  1. Our customers have taught me well It's just that this guy has a 99.9% rating with 20,000 sales - he wants to give me a $10 pair of socks for a $235 purchase that was misrepresented.. I don't think so. I trusted him, sent the money and waited for the shipment to arrive. Ebay prides itself on its reputation, he didn't look at what he was actually shipping and I would not have bought them had he listed them correctly. It makes matters worse when he finger points at the Fischer website (which you can't buy from) after taking 3 wks to respond to my original notification. I should have offered him the option to ship the correct skis (since he didn't) and pay for my time and shipping to have the wrong set returned.
  2. thats a good point. I am thinking tents for the main slope.
  3. We had ice sown here too, it was different, not frost, a whole glaze of ice.. Looks like there might have been some white stuff north west of here..
  4. Holy Crap !! where's the vid to that?!!
  5. When is the Nestors sale? How much for Lines by themselves.
  6. The Lines sound interesting ask Steezemachine what he thinks in a PM
  7. I am reviving this thread because of some interesting things I learned today from a Marketing person within BC while at my favorite ski shop. In a nutshell, BC will continue to improve and expand their facilities, the new lodge was apparently only the first step. Now is the time to talk up and convince them to take a hard look on what it would take to offer an extened season. My suggestion is simple: blow a deeper base at night on the main slope adjacent to their main lift throughout the season, install pilings and supports sufficient for a tent of circus porportions. Shift the park features over and market the hey out of spring rail jams and spring fun races and I bet they will be crowded for as long as the snow doesn't melt. I know that the idea of shifting the tubing park and increasing the size of the park is already on the table along with a separate ski school facility. There was mention of an ice rink (think shavings!!) - As the trends are emerging they seem to be actively planning to make BC a year around destination. IMO Bear stands the best chance to "cover" the spring season... Here is the link to their survey page.. Fill it out - if they don't hear from us they won't know.. Bear Creek Contact page
  8. Keep us posted on whether it is a private thing or not and any other details. It is fairly close to us.
  9. This is the letter I wrote.... In response to a "hey, sorry for the misunderstanding, how about I throw some socks in" reply I got today... I am also sorry for the misunderstanding related to simple geometry. While I appreciate your offer to "make things right" I want to make it perfectly clear that I would not have bought another pair Slalom Skis with a radius sidecut of 11m. regardless of the total length of the cut. You advertised R14 at 138cm. My son owns 6 pairs of various race skis at various radii, at various lengths for various courses. We own 3 sets of fisher skis, 2 of which were bought from you previously! I have attached a picture of a set of your skis in action while in Park City last month! Regardless of the Fischer website information these skis are clearly labeled R11.. no where is there any indication of any type of 14 meter sidecut on this ski, unlike the the Junior World cup skis which is offered both at an R11 & R14. By the way, the Fischer website also states the sidecut length as 138cm on a 133cm ski, how is that possible? You will also notice in the Junior World cup series that the shovel, waist, and tail are clearly different dimensions on a ski of the same length with different radii. I am sure that you know all of this. You would not have been wrong to advertise the information printed on the ski. Advertising other information from other websites and selling a product that is labeled different than your advertising is misleading and wrong in my opinion. I will verify the actual radius of the skis against a proven radius and let you know what I find. It appears to me that you simply copied the info from available marketing info without checking the information printed on the ski. I guess it is possible that these skis regardless of what is printed on them may in fact have a 14 meter side cut. I know that you sell a tremendous amount of skiing equipment - I have bought a half dozen pair of skis and other items from you, I also bought the BUY IT NOW matching bindings for these skis which I would not have bought knowing what I know now. I have 30 pairs of socks and another pair of won't make me forget about this "misprint" at this point. Another thought or point of reference would be the Atomic GS series skis which are heavily marketed - the yellow set is R11, the red set is R14. I hope that this clarifies your "misunderstanding". Since I delivered these skis directly to my ski shop and since it is they who brought this to my attention and since it would be a terrible inconvienence for me to now return these to you, I will make the concession of keeping this pair of skis in return for you giving me ............................
  10. Ok - a pair of skis online is advertised as 143 cm with a R14 at 138 - Physically imprinted on the skis is R11 - how can this be? How can a 133cm ski also be advertised as R14 at 138. 138 refers to the length of the sidecut and R14 is equal to a 14 meter radius. A 14 meter radius is a 14 meter radius regardless of how long the tangent is (sidecut). Why do manufacturers list 5 different lengths of skis all with the same radius and tangent. here we go again... this time I am going for free roller blades..
  11. We are in for 3 evening passes only.
  12. I really don't get why some place like CB wouldn't generate a few bucks with a limitd TP slope in the off season.. I just don't get it. They pushed enough snow to the bottom of the TP lift to cover several rails.
  13. Just grouping the suggestions together

Maybe, just maybe a little more attention to the park and extending the season??? how about some spring skiing stuff with all that snow THAT THEY STILL HAVE!!!! BTW all - we are now proud owners in Northridge, we will be making CB our home mountain, OK - lets put it this way, it will be our home point of operation for events in the Pococnos!
  15. I was surprised to see the amount and depth that CB has still on the upper slopes. Roundtop is managable, I won't be there but maybe steezemachine will be. I have a fishing tournament that day.
  16. We will do weekday evening passes for BC for Nastar and the Park - I think they are $99 - well worth it IMO

Uhhh I just took a look and there hasn't been any new posts for a while (well just a couple) - I took a minute to browse and found some funny moments .... Dude is annoying
  18. You can't count steezemachine in to participate - I'll do what I can to organize/help transport whatever I can do. I dunno anything about rinks - but the fake carpet snow thing sounds really cool - got a million dollars? Here is a question? Can a snow machine/fan like at the ones at BC be enclosed in a cooled down building and be forced to make snow?
  19. Naaa... I just checked their interactive cam and ther is not a soul there
  20. Nestors honors a 50% trade in which is cool when it means new boots for the boys each year. Last year Steeze got Ridge's hand me downs. I would imagine that next year will be the same scenario given what I have learned this year. Steeze boots are Lange L8's the plastic cuff was remove all the way to the top buckle (about the top 2") and Booster straps were added (highly recomend). The screw at the back of archilles was removed entirely to allow the boot to flex more. He has not complained about shin bang since a boot fitter in Tahoe suggested and did all the work. I have looked at the 1080's while they are different - it would surprise me to have to do similar work to his boots again. Maybe a poll on who wears what boots over at newschoolers is in line. What do you guys wear? Do you land much switch? Do you have issues with shin bang? BTW - ridges shins seem to get far more banged up than steezes
  21. CRAP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I wrote the teachers notes about the boys having appointments and having to leave school early.. I scheduled work for saturday morning, I blew off a trip to Killington.. I think we should show up anyhow. Welcome to the board Romeo however, if you're going to give us bad news then your not welcome!! Just Kidding... THANKS FOR THE HEADS UP!! Does anyone know how they covered it? I have had straw covered frost from the winter still frozen at the end of May.. It's not that much rain they are calling for... I stand corrected........... Not that it matters either now but the webcam shows a really small pile of snow as of this afternoon. Crap... steezemachine was sleeping with helmet on last night thinking about this one.... Noaa radar
  22. WOW - what a great deal!! What ski club are you outfitting? How many are you auctioning off? My boys might not think it was cool - but I'd like to see all 4 of us in the same jacket.

UPenn must be an inside joke.. Ok which one of you guys went there to ski? Sib - I really appreciate your observations, insight and advice. I am starting to see more of path that makes sense for me/us. The next few years will be a balancing act with both my boys. Fortunatly my estranged is very helpful and supportive, well at least she is/was when the boys started proving thier talent. I think she hates skiing. I have to give her a lot of credit for supporting us boys and out fun stuff. We'll do the USSA-PARA-CAT-NASTAR with the intent of keeping the skis wet for as long as possible next season. Last night, I explained to Ridge the point system, and that there isn't one until he is older. I suggested that we run around to as many various USSA races as we can and see how he does and then he determines whether he want to get into a more regimented program to train to be the best he can be. Otherwise, I told him, we will just run around the country collecting pins, looking for Nastar, off-piste, until they are not interested in that any more. I reminded him that his brother will also be competing and that it may mean changing away from Camelback the following years so don't get too comfortable at CB. Steeze needs a place that has a progressive park, BC and MC are the only ones that have any caliber to them, while Blue is coming up from behind and seemingly making an effort, the crowds are hard to deal with. BTW - Steven was in tears at first when we said we would make CB home next season - After he filmed his brother race at PC - I think he became more supportive, at least it appears so. He'll get a USSA number also and I'll try to find some events for him that fit with everything else. Private school has always been an option since they were in Kindergarten, so that is also possible (academys) in the following years however, I may have some motherly problems/hurdles - thats a tough call at this point. My biggest concern is keeping a job in amongst this overall plan. Guess I'll go work at a ski slope somewhere. Can someone teach me how to tune skis?
  24. I think I am seeing more clearly now that the haze is gone...
  25. Yesterday was another record, 18, 19, will there be 20?
