Now that's funny!!!! I didn't know who EXPLODEE was 2 months ago, I like him now because he is a home town boy at the top. I like how he has personality. I wish I could ski like him, reckless and all. Hero? Not sure bout that..

AHH ha - Ok that makes sense. Question: How long has this racing format been around? Any insight on why the USSA program hasn't picked up on the Nastar format? Or am I trend setting? BTW- did you ever get a chance to see that V1 video of the 8 year old? HOLY CRAP!! Thats what Ridge likes to watch over and over and over and over.. USSA doesn't have anything like that. regardless of the difficulty of the course I hope they keep attracting that caliber of skier in the pursuing years.

Thanks dude, that confirms it for me!!! It is what I thought. For a moment, I thought I was stupid.. I have heard numerous times that if you don't have anything nice to say, then keep quiet. Can you hear the silence?? Now the noise... Ok - I think I understand this. If you are a 14 yr old and under Junior ski racer, you aint s--t (in the racing communitys' eyes) if you are not racing USSA courses. If you race nothing but USSA races you never know where you rate/rank unless you ski where? So - a kid skis his heart out at his little home mountain going to a few state or regional races, does well but then he/she and his parents find out that when they are 14 that you still are at the bottom of the point list? There is no ranking, no point list, no nothing to shoot at? Ok I think I am learning how this works. whether or not I agreee with it, I can guarantee this. We won't be traipsing all over the country to race in scoreless races. We will just find tough courses and compatible coaches. Are there even any recognitions for winning 14 yr and under race? Bragging really seems to be looked down upon. So bragging rights aren't cool in ski racing, what is? The competition and fun we had at PC will be unforgettable - Does the USSA program have anything to compare to that? Please remember, all you hardened racers, I am brand spanking new to this whole community. Be patient to my questions and comments and try to be encouraging.

Maybe it's me or maybe the search function. I scoured the USSA website trying to learn something and thought I would do some searches on 10 yr males. It seems that everyone of them has 990 points. is this correct? If it is, how is a J4 or their parents for that matter supposed to see how they are doing comparitively? Also, I am not turning up any 11yr old freestylers - I found a few that competed in the Tahoe area but it seems that in freestyle the more points the better and in racing the less points the better. USSA is all very new to me, so all you "old school" people cut me some slack and some patience and understanding. Thanks!

Gimme a break steeze - Tell me where that phrase is from and I will believe you wrote it!

Great picture! When and where is it from?

This string reminds me of all of the different types of lessons I have had with all the different terminology and techniques given by all types of ages, genders and personalities with widely varying experience while I was simply trying to improve my golf/skiing/tennis/baseball/math/science/art/business.... IMO there are no right ways and no wrong ways - all the lessons are good and have taught me more the bad ones taught me even more.. BTW - all the instruction in the world is only as good as the student is capable of. I suck at all the aforementioned stuff! ..Not really.. There are those who teach and those who.... It's all good, The Dranow group is a infectious fun loving group. If you want drill Sargents, I don't think they are it, they don't make you sit time out when you miss a gate. They don't bark from a timing tower. They do take run after run analyzing and critiquing with physical examples side by side offering lots of positive encouragement. Perfectly suited for the recreational skier.

Tell him to check the email address that is listedon his website..

Thats cool... Good move, the more public gated race courses the better!!

They never answered any emails either.

http://www.modernskiracing.org/ Nastar fanatics they are.. A good bunch of very dedicated fanatical skiers who want to share what they say is a "breakthrough". As a newbie overloaded with tremendous amounts of confusing info, it simply appears to be one more training technique that works for some.. It is an interesting concept. As with everything, there are a lot of vocal opinions, negative ones toward this group of good hearted guys is....... All I can say is that they love to ski and they are very encouraging and welcoming to all who want to listen. It looks like they will be having a clinic at the same time my other son will be in BC. I know and trust them.. They can't possibly be making any money at it, all though I am sure they wish they were. http://www.modernskiracing.org/

Some of the core guys MSRT might being doing a clinic at Whistler in June for anyone interested.

Is the season over for her now? What is her USSA number so we can follow along?
-
Apparently - there aren't any 11 year old freestylers registered. the ones I could find don't look to be at the level he is.. It's hard to tell.

There are 4 distinct 1 inch gouges that have removed enough of the topsheet to see the wood core beneath. I was told that water could get under and cause more damage, the fix is to epoxy over the damaged areas. I just looked at the edge and they seem to be holding up really well and surprisingly still sharp at the waist. Where are the 4frnt dealers around here? I found one Binginghamton

Go gurp go!! that's the attitude that'll win these things!!

Fragile is subjective compared to the abuse steeze throws at them. Granted other skis hold up better but they don't perform as well. Comp a Mercedes and a Ferrari.. Ferrari would never offer replacement or free repairs nor would mercedes for that matter.. I was going to buy an extra pair for steven for his trip to BC this summer and asked about what I could do to repair the use and abuse damage to the top sheet, I repeat, I was pleasantly surprised when they offered to replace that set plus comp another. Rather that calling them a fragile junior piece of shit, I tried another approach.. Try some honey dude, it works!!
-
Thats probably why the Steeze is trashing the AR3, it wasn't designed for the stuff he is pulling You'll have to take a look at them if you come to BC. Interesting enough they are wood core, like LINE! Also, I think his are from '04, so being the end of the season, they are giving em away..

Loyalty is a 2-way street, hand carrying new customers into "my" shop, lots of personal patronage and promotion also get some rewards. The shop owners do have the connections. It also helps to have (high visibilty) kids in both disciplines who speak the language. IMO kids ultimately drive the skiing markets. For example, I doubt I will ever get anything for me, for free, matter of fact, they probably would charge me double, just to have to deal with me. Not that I have recently bought anything for myself

Hopefully the "S" rail is in ... Steeze will actually have a shot at it if they do.. Either way, there should be some great Kodak moments!!

4/29 at BC - Be there! We will work on drawing something, scanning it and emailing it to you..

I was just pleasantly surprised by the folks at Armada today. To those of you who have seen Steezemachines damage after a few days on the slopes should be able to relate to this.. Due to the amount of damage in 8 days of skiing, I thought it would be smart to make sure he goes to BC with an extra set. At the rate he is destroying his skis, I doubt that they would make it 2 more weeks. SO, While inquiring at our local ski shop (Ski Bum in Chadds Ford - ask for Dwayne, tell em Rob sent ya ) about the cost of another set and commenting on the damage, they (Aramda) offered to REPLACE his current set and comp another set in preparation for his trip!!! Props to Aramda!! I am not sure why the top sheet is so fragile on the AR3 but I can tell you that they stand behind their product and the Steezemachine really likes them.. Demo a set next year and let us know what you think.
