    BC NASTAR

We would love to run up with you - we will probably be there, it is up to Ridge.. The course was fast tonight.. All of BC was one huge sheet of ice, with some soft spots that were sheltered from the wind... 20 degrees with 30mph winds when we left. brrrrrrrrr.................
  2. I promise they were there.. wind probably blew them out..

  4. I am headed out the door right now!! (well as soon as I log off) See you guys up there!
  5. I am ashamed to say how many - I have an obsessive compulsive disorder. Ebay is fantastic source - but establishing a frequent flyer account at ski shop is even better. There are 4 of us who ski and get gear regularly plus friends and other family members. End of the season right now is the time to buy!!!!

Private Lessons, a little bit at a time, combined with the Nastar Program have proved invaluable in Ridge's development. The Nastar program shows dramatic improvement each time there was a lesson (2) or a change in gear (3) by way of the scoring system. The handicap system is variable but close enough to track major changes. When we/I have been in doubt of the score - he simply raced another day at another place.. This has been a tremendous motivator for him - we check the results, track, review and discuss the scores. It really keeps him pumped up to try and do better. Hopefully some of the resorts from early in the season will continue to have Nastar so that we can return to them just to verify the improvement.. Racing head to head a couple of times can't compare progress unless all of the sudden you start winning when you weren't before.. My humble opinion.... I am a huge fan of Nastar!!! Can you tell?
  7. We should be there tuesday night and Wednesday night. Steven has the flu so I don't know if he will be recovered in time to leave this afternoon.. I know the kid is sick if he tells me that he is not sure that he will want to ski tonight. I need to call to see if they are setting up the gates - we are getting hammered right now by a blizzard!!!!!!!!!
  8. Polka dotted boxers takes 3 tries to get them to stick... (need to learn to toss like a frisbee)
  9. That's something I might like
  10. Why did Jamie beat Jeff too?

You bring up a great point.. Now I am an ashamed sissy... I said I wouldn't be goaded, now I am having second thoughts. I'd like to think I am more of a little league mom than a grandmother.
  13. Have fun!! Wish we were going too!
  14. More great advice... Ridge's brother his headed for COC this summer - I was hoping to find a similar camp for Ridge. I would love to talk to some of you that have experience with sort of thing. PM me with a phone number!!
  15. THINK SNOW!!!
  16. Understood - that is helpful to know. I think that it may be, that a full blown race sponsorship is one thing, swag for a 10 yr old is another. Could be nothing more than a carrot to appease my confusion with with their lableling of skis. It helps to know that for future reference. Thanks for the input. Rob

No intent on anything other than supporting my son - I see everyone in this sport as an asset to Ridge's improvement and support - Even Atomic skis - I learned alot about that company last week.. After 25 yrs of being battered and bruised - skiing greens often terrifies me. I blew my knee last year in a lift line!! I can't lift my right arm over my head.. etc etc waaaa waaaa waaaaa - Yep I'm a sissy

I ski on Line Darksides - an all mountain ski that handles everything but doesn't do anything particularly well. So you know, my race skis are an older set of Atomic 9-18 I'll admit it, I am too scared to race this season, I am at about 100% now and I am feeling stronger every day since surgery last March. I won't be goaded into doing anything stupid like blowing out my other knee until I am ready. Maybe next year. Let me say this about your skiing, you ski better than 99% of the people out there. I have all the rights to say that, right?
  19. We are on the same page, skis and a potential sponsorship go hand in hand... A portfolio at this point is all that is needed to firm up any future stuff.. We'll see....

Funny... One Atomic down.. One Vokyl to go!!
  21. Congrats!! waiting to see those results>>>>>>
  22. I am a huge fan of Nastar.. It is a unique program that allows you to race as much as you want.. What is really neat is that you can see instant improvement via your scores with every little advancement whether it be lessons or gear or both!! If anyone is interested in seeing one hell of a success story then check out this link - http://www.nastar.com/index.jsp?pagename=r...p&compid=416893 Pay particular attention to scores at the start of the season then work your way through the season. The biggest jumps are related to gear.. Changing gear with changing conditions are important.. Ridge scored the biggest jump on his vokyls, but nailed his best ever on his Fischer Slaloms at the end of the day today!!
  23. No Joke.... I love Atomic now and so does Ridge! Well he likes the look of them..

    Ridge

WOOOOO HOOOOOO!!!!! AH YEP!!!! he continues to chisel away at his Handicap.. thanks for following Ski Mom!! I didn't want to gloat and make a post about his accomplishments but since you noticed. After the retabulation that is to occur at 2am tonight Ridge should now be ranked FIRST IN THE NATION in the Nastar Program!!!! For a kid who seems to have raw talent the Nastar program has been a tremendous motivation for him to go faster. It has more than proven itself to me.. I will register him next year in the sanctioned stuff so that if he interested in participating in one of the ski team programs then he can.. Keith Dickerson at CB, in a 1 hour private lesson worked with Ridge in his starting technique today and he continued to improve his handicap.. One paceset last tuesday, was suspicious, Wednesday night against a 18 year old was verification of speed, But today at CB, was just freaking awesome for the kid. He is so pumped!! Thank you for everyones support, we should be at BC Tuesday and Wednesday night if anyone is interested. Come on out, enjoy the awesome park, take some runs with us or hang out in the lodge. It is all good! Rob, Ridge and Steven
  25. Ridge came in third for the 14 and under category.. It was his first and he wa catching the bigger guys each time and told me he was afraid that he was going to land on one em so he had to sit back and misses a gate after the last jump and was DQ.. Burton Girl, the pink polka dots were donated to the CB tree today..
