  1. Welcome to the board!!! I think she brings up a valid request.. What color did you want? Any particular style?
  2. Papasteeze

    Straps

Nothing about fast strapless skiing on this board........
  3. Boulder ranks right up there with Bear as confirmed yesterday by Steven- I could use help with a nickname for him..... We will be at BC Tuesday night running Nastar and the skier Cross and of course Steven will be sessioning the whole thing.. From 7 - 9:30 we have no problem getting in 15+ runs... Hope to see you there!
  4. Hey Gurp! For next year & to those of you who saw him this weekend... Do you think he should enter those events next year?
  5. We are definitly considering going up.. Any idea of what the categories are going to be? I would imagine it would be age groups - Any way to pre-register? Who should I call at Blue? Questons, questions, questions.....
  6. If the storm comes.. I would rather be at elk - cause no one else will be there..... Walk, crawl or hitch a ride on a plow - go man go!
  7. Mark my words -- I saw a little kid today hit a jump, inverted and landed on his head.. That makes 3 that I have eyewitnessed in one year.. Don't worry - it won't be long before they clamp down inexperienced skiers in the parks.. I hate seeing an extra fee added - but how else could validation be done? While we are on the subject of validation for access - i think that all mountains should have a couple of chairs that people can practice in before they are let onto the slopes.. Bad enough the slow chairs but when they stop 5 times on the way up..GRRRRRRR
  8. Confirmed.... Shawnee has potential but NO MAINTENANCE that we could see.. Boulder Gets HIGH ranks!!
  9. AHHH YEP!!! this a double confirmation of BB -- Very nice rail set up in the rail park - Tough call in comparing it with Bear...
  10. Hey Gurp, If steven had participated, what group would he have been in?
  11. OUCH!! that hurt... Ok the only reason I am in the park is to spectate and spot the jumps...
  12. Free ski then Nastar more than likely... I got a pair of Race 310 bindings donated!!!!! Ski999 pointed me to a pair of GS11.2 at $99!!! I ain't passin up this deal gotta Run!!!
  13. Yep, another change in the workings CB manana - JF Domingo... See ya there
  14. I bady want to razz you for going the easy route (riding) and "high five" your 4 year old, but I won't I hope I don't start a war - but riding is for people who don't know how to ski....
  15. Nestor's in Allentown has been my place of choice for my 2 boys' boots - they have had their own boots for the last 5 years - they are 10 & 11 now. Nestors has a trade in program. They have honored a 50% percent trade in on what I spent the previous years. Through the years they have kept the previous years' information, so that helps to get the better service. I chose the "new boot every year" route because of the number of days we ski per year. The lease programs are a great idea if you plan on doing 5 or so outings per year. Any more than that I would get new. I am not suggesting that you do this - but I will be honest, for the first years (5&6) - I bought a size too large and stuffed paper towels in the toes to make up the difference - just to get a little more mileage out of them. As they advanced, it is now footbeds, heel shims, padding, booster straps. It killed me to see my freestylers brand new boots sawed and grinded on to stop the shin bang. Oh well.... You will enjoy skiing with your children a lot more with their own gear and so will they!! Rob
  16. See..... then I am on the right track.. Hey dude, are you skiing at CB tomorrow? Think any one with a 145cm might let my kid take a run or 2 - I am striking out on finding a new set of GS11.1 at 140cm locally - Any ideas??
  17. BC adds a degree of difficulty to thier course in lieu of minimal vertical - I think it is a good idea to learn to ski in the dark or fog - it teaches you to better balance and feel.. Call me nuts, just a quick thought...
  18. Hey Atomic, He hasn't been held back by any means as evidenced by this long summary - read on if you are interested. I have a pair of Beta 918's - and anymore, it is too much ski for me. I can tell a huge difference between my Line 165cm all mountain and those 170cm Atomics. Ridge has not had any formal race training he only has his own intuition and gear. The progession throughout this season has been amazing, using the Nastar Handicap system as a guage. (71 races) Keep in mind that he asks me what he can do to win in Utah. He built a run on a 100' verticle and skiied well into the dark last night. He runs up and down stairs with a backpack of dumb bells.. This kid is pumped!! Here is my reasoning using GUESSTIMATED averages of his daily Handicap over 10 timed racing days. 1. 39avg. - His score at the start of the season - much faster than last year. 2. 30avg - After 6 days of freesking in Tahoe - scores noticibly improved. 3. 27avg - He now has 5 days of running the gates on Nastar courses. 4. 30avg - Appears to be have plateau'ed at Bear Creek (short course) 5. 26avg - On new Fischers, best score was the his last run (13th) at 23.75! 6. 23avg - After spending day with Skidude at CB - Tell GUS I said "Thanks!" 7. 22avg - Last Tuesday night at BC with speed suit. Best score 20.55! Midway through this season he commented that was noticing that kids were skiing on Atomics or Fischers, so simple economics led me to purchase the Fischers via Ebay. I had no idea that the improvement would be so substantial. I am betting in analyzing the mechanics of the different skis and photos of him, that a stiffer ski will perform better - he appears to have the strength.. I am also noticing that he can now tell the difference between skis. I don't let him use the Fischers 11m for freeskiing, he uses his Crossmax 140cm 14m. He skied on an old set of straight Elans 135 last night and complained. he loves those Fischers - I am betting that he will love a set of high tech flashy set of Atomics even more and MAKE them go faster.. Besides thats what BODE skis on correct? This is all guesswork on my part - I/we just won't know until we try. We have a month before Utah and as a overly proud Dad (and Coach) I just want to make sure that he has gotten all that I can give him in preparation for his big race day. Poles gloves and new goggles are on the list - so at least he will look like a top notch racer. I am thinking he should try a 140 - 145cm with 13m radius.. We won't know until he tries them whether he likes them.. I would love to hear every ones thoughts - I would be happy to forward the albums to anyone who would like to advice. CB or Shawnee this Sat. for Ridge - Steven should be at BB & JF I need a new nick - any suggestions? Rob
  19. Steven inisted it is at Bear but I corrected him becasue dude said it was at Montage - it may have been at Bear last year but it is not there now. The 70's wer hard on me.. I have no short term memory
  20. When I snap them together for carrying the base of skis nearly touch each other at the binding - there is no or little camber to them..
  21. Either or.... Anything he can control.. if he likes em - i 'll buy them. I have a hunch that he should be on something stiffer, the RC's are flat with no spring until they are flexed.
  22. Dude, I was thinking that my request might be unreasonable.. Keep your ears and eyes open for any Junior racers that might want to part with theirs in the near future...
  23. hi this is steven the park rat Bule had a awsem terrain park the rails were awsem even know I fell on the kink rail and had a run away ski. Jumps were OK the landings could have been steper. BC's rails and jumps were perfic.Yeah I vote for BC.
  24. Hey guys, I want my kid to try some various types of high end skis. I got a set of 138cm Fischer RC4's for him very recently and the improvement was obvious. After scrutinizing some photos http://www.photoreflect.com/scripts/prsm.d...photos?a=181436 I have decided that something stiffer and a little longer may suit him better. Only he will be able to tell me - obvious problem - who caters to a racers needs? A try before you buy type of thing.. Can't and don't want to wait for a demo day.... OR DUMB QUESTION>>> Does anyone have a set of stiff 145cm Atomics at 11m??
  25. You guys are coming from a different direction - Yep the lights act like a beacon coming in. I come from the south.... turn right when leaving BC - hit 100 and point it south for an hour or so..
