I never ski the front side at Vail - when china bowl opened I was there, when Blue sky opened I was there. The key is to ski all the way back to blue sky as fast and as early as you can in the morning. Blue sky stays un tracked well up to lunchtine (11am) even on the busy days.

Christmas break week... I like the date function but keep forgetting to reset it or get impatient to take the picture. I should just turn it off. I dunno what kind of camera it is .. hahhhahaha 8 megapixel with a bunch of fancy settings and the size of a cigarette pack. If you had seen the other 30 pics from the other settings you would understand why I am happy with that one.

Is the 13' pipe open at CB? It was in printed marketing literature from pre-season last year. I haven't been paying attention to CB this year, but did take notice in similar tactics that SNO is using.

Knowing that JH is just getting the absolutely best conditions right now tells me that it is very unlikely that no matter how many times I visited, that the chances of the conditions being that good again are highly unlikely. at 15 degrees F the snow was what they called blower on Tuesday, they have to be approaching 4 of cold smoke since last Saturday. The locals there (many) were telling me that that this is the best they have seen it. I am glad I got lucky.

They got 3 feet saturday thru Tuesday!!!! Ha! Last January 07 sucked according to the locals it was too cold to snow for the latter 3 weeks of Jan. seriously doug... I think Jhole sucks with out fresh.. COMPARITIVELY to other destination resorts with out Fresh. Nips will not agree.. It's a combination of several categories of personal preferences that cause me to rate it like that. .........including a bus for 45 minutes in the morning and afternoon. Hopefully it will impress you, but you already have a preconcieved notion that JHole is the best, so I am fairly certain that you will report back that Utah does not and will never compare.

For your first trip, definitly do the Safari thing. Plan to go to a different resort each day out. I would do Vail, Keystone, Winter Park, Breck, Copper, in that order of priority (must see). Then either go back to see more or do another smaller resort to complete the end of the week. Oh! I always suggest to head out as far away from the base as fast as possible and then work your way back for lunch, -this is important - Try to take an early lunch like 11am to beat the crowds and ski or ride while every one else is at lunch. Stop about 2 pm for refueling break. Good luck!

I care very very very very much about 1/2 pipe in the Poconos, so much so, that I got duped into buying a season pass for a "Competition Ready" pipe last season and so much so that I also post in Pipe specific forums and competition threads on this and other boards.

I kept hearing, "it doesn't get any better than this", "epic" etc etc.. I am fairly convinced that I will never return to Jackson, because the liklihood that it will be as good as it is right now, is not likely when guessing at when to book another trip.

not true at all.. I want a pipe cause nips wants a pipe.. For what it is worth, I am actively involved in a huge pipe event for 2010 and 2014 They are in year 2 of a 5 year plan. possibly year 4 or 5 no definites, I guess it depends on how well BB does these first few years. Pipes of that size are ridiculously expensive and rarely is there a ROI

This came from the locals. yesterday off of apres vous were 2 foot untracked freshies all day long. Saturday and Sunday were a cluster f&^% . Skiing chopped up powder for 4 days is annoying. I can't ski strong and fast enough to skip over the tops. wider skis would have really helped. BUt yeah... I am really glad we got lucky or my overall opinion would not be that positive comparitively to other destination resorts.

yeah we got lucky.. I really wish I had wider skis - of course if I had bought a set, it wouldn't have snow like this. It's funny to see how trashed everyones bases and edges are here.

easily 3 feet on the mountain, about a foot in the valley, since last saturday. The airlines are having a difficult time getting in here...

ANy ideas of when? next year maybe?
