  1. yeah ski and liftguy............... there is always 2 sides to the story. Could be that the employment stipulations regarding attendance were layed out initially and this kid never imagined that he would actually win and need this much time off? He told me about the employment situation at the regionals, I didn't think much more about it until I heard the Sports radio story at the Championships and how they thought it serious/funny/weird/dumb/unusual enough to put the ski resort employer on the radio. I met his family and all that and what I know, is his side, which in basic terms he was told if he wanted to compete on weekends he could but that Sno needed him to work and he had to choose one or the other. So maybe chronic absenteeism? I dunno..... I can you tell you that this family has been going there for a very long time and is very happy that it was sold to the new owners.
  2. hahahah well if it does happen I am going to claim that I called it first! woot!
  3. Oh Ok.... well you seem to be representing the scene for sno - so in the category of - I think you should know............... Apparently - you HAD an employee there who also competes in park. He won his regional division and was sent to represent Sno at the National Championship event that will be televised in April called the Jeep Terrain Park Challenge. NOW.......... word has it, that Sno would not secure this employees job and allow him to take time off to go to this event. A radio show out of San Frnacisco caught wind of this and decided to call this boss and put him on the air... I don't know exactly what happened with the radio show or whether they got a hold of him or what. There just seems to be something really wrong with this whole picture and thought you should know. I hope that that kid gets his job back and any other deserving perks for someone who has spent thier life there along with representing Sno on a televised National level should get. capiche?
  4. The Results are in!!! QUICK! did really well with Newschoolers in the JEA!! Awards.. http://newschoolers.com/web/content/news/news_id/1393/ Runner up best Am film - QUICK! Runner up best male skier - Steve Stepp Best Box trick - Tom Wallisch Best Comedy - NIPPLES!!!!!!!!!! Best Mom Cameo - Mrs. Stepp Best Dipset - 4bi9 - (steve and tom are members) In Light of Tom Wallisch getting invited to the Jon Olsen Invitational, Steve Stepp recognized as "blowing up" and Nips noteriety along with results from comps this year. Everyone should consider owning this little flick for a piece of history. I have copies if you see me out on the slope or you can order them directly from the link in my signature. $12 may prove to be really cheap, when or if these kids go "big" some day.
  5. http://newschoolers.com/web/content/blogs/...6/entry_id/861/ Notice some important info like 34 dgrees and winch groomer. CB take notice. Your park this year had to be of the poorest quality that we went to this year. That is really disappointing considering how big of a machine you have there.
  6. Piche? consolation prize? lol.. nooooo............ The Sno Mountain Race would have been a lot more fun...
  7. wait..................... since when did CB ever announce what they were closing in advance? Correct me where I am wrong, all ski resorts close with threat of lightening
  8. Camelback doesn't care about quality, only quantity of sales. Didn't you get the memo?
  9. Just a footnote, I am fairly certain Ridge would have declined any post season races.
  10. Well if what you say is true, then why aren't those divisions penalized or why isn't everyone padding thier enrollment. I do see your point though if that is the way it is. What is the point of the state team anyhow? Is this the way every state appoints thier team?
  11. THe Derbie results are posted now, Ridge missed the state team (whatever that entitles you to) by one point. http://paracing.org/mambo/index.php?option...5&Itemid=46 BTW edit......................... props to Blue for getting a ton of swag together to hand out for the derbies, I think I heard 20 pairs of skis? !!!!!!!! wonder if there were any twins in there.
  12. Sure they could. Just base it on quotas the same way they do on figuring out how many from each division go to the Derbies. Being new to racing I just sort of equate a state team to like any other sport where season standouts are named to all-stars.
  13. Hey Lift guy.. answer this question..
  14. JUST IN!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Tom Wallisch invited to the JOI invitationals... How freakin sick is that? Congrats Tom! wooooooot! http://newschoolers.com/web/forums/readthr...read_id/286667/ EDIT: here is what this means.
  15. well said....
  16. I agree the J4/5 race score formats are ok - however I think oveall season cumulative scores would a better indicator for the formation of a State team. Of course I am biased, but in Ridges case, he apparently had a rotten weekend, not sure why, he isn't talking about it.
  17. Not that any of us file Canadian Tax Returns ............................................ $500 Tax Credit for Canadian Campers CANADIAN GOVERNMENT MAKES SUMMER CAMP $500 CHEAPER The Canadian government just passed tax credit bill to help Canadian taxpayers keep their kids active and involved in sports. If you participate in a sport and receive more than 5 full days of coaching you are eligible for a $500 tax credit on your annual taxes. So cool! The government just made going to camp so much more affordable. If you come to an 8 day or longer snowboard, ski or mountain bike camp, either Deluxe or Standard, you are eligible for the credit. From what we understand, you simply file your camp receipt with your taxes and you get the $500 credit for your participation in The Camp of Champions, if you haven't already claimed the credit. Amazing! See you this summer. COC 2007 SESSIONS ARE FILLING UP FAST Camp sessions are starting to fill up fast this summer and now with the news of the tax credit, pro camp going off and the record snowfalls, camp is going to be filling up even faster. Don't miss out on what is going to be the most epic summer ever. If you know the session you want to attend book today as most of our sessions are about half full.
  18. Who is the guy that got interviewed by a San Francisco radio station last Firday?
  19. fastest.............. naa... they combine the SL and GS scores for that standing. Then for the Derbies, they start all over again cummulatively, not best race or anything like that. Ridge didn't have a good weekend.
  20. Here is a question. I am curious, do you know the guy in your department that was interviewed by a San Francisco radio station for not allowing an employee to have time off to attend a National Championship competition? I'll try to get the sound bytes for posting. Funny stuff..
  21. not true, carving the take off makes a stylee cork look even better
  22. Kind of hard to decipher the cut and paste, essentially the last number is the best run score. 23. If thats all it is, then it's cool, however I am not an expert on all things park, yet. Seriously though, having spent the amount of time in the parks across the entire nation that I have and having witnessed all of the stupid stuff - there is only one program that works really well and that is park passes.
  24. yeah, get some 80's clothes, (preferably fourescent colors) rear entry boots, straight skis and see who can be the most outrageous... Gaper From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Jump to: navigation, search Gaper on the front of "Van der Pigge", a pharmacy in Haarlem.A gaper is a stone black man's head on the front of a building in the Netherlands. It is used to indicate that this building is a pharmacy. The literal translation of gaper would be yawner; the figure is always displayed with an open mouth. Traditionally, the man depicted is of Moorish origin. The traveling salesmen of herbs and pills, the 'forefathers' of the pharmacies and drugstores now, used to have an assistant who would play the character of an ill man of stage. After taking the pill, the assistant (typically depicted as Moorish) would all of a sudden feel much better and perform a dance. Later, when pharmacists opened shops instead of travelling through the country, the symbol of the Moorish man (often depicted with a pill on his tongue) would tell the illiterate audience that this was the home of a pharmacist. Nowadays these symbols are rare, next to collections in museums fewer than 50 can be seen on houses
