  1. Cliffhanger was open and so were both quads. Rocket and Pharaoh were the two trails that were closed.
  2. Who's going to JF the last day, this Sunday? I'll be there from open till close. Last year there was enough natural snow to ski from the east mt. lift onto snow tubing, then back onto the bottom of snow chute (tubing was closed so it became another trail ).

    Elk TR 3/18

I'm pissed . Every damn decent size storm has been rain. When I planned to go north, they got hammered with rain. After everybody closes, it will probably get cold and snow. Even the one storm that JF had light fluffly snow, that usually doesn't fall around here, a brief shot of sleet came in and screwed it all up. I was also hoping to head to Elk, the last week of March.

This damn shitty weather is killing it. It figures that it's supposed to get cold and go back to winter conditions, after this storm. It's already too late. People have now lost interest and think that nothing is left .
  6. The home page says that limited terrain will be available. Why not have the whole moutain open and use one lift, preferably one of the widow lifts or black forest lift? The black forest lift would allow easier access to the whole mountain (closer to boulder park and stuff in that direction). It's also possible to get to the whole mountain off of the triple, although it can be a little bit of a pain. The only down fall to having the whole mountain open would be maintaining it. As long as Mittl Weg is open and groomed .
  7. www.jfbb.com. Check it before going.
  8. That isn't part of the hours listed
  9. It's free. Do what I did, do two places.
  10. A little lightning won't hurt anyone......unless if you get hit by it. Hopefully the heavy rain stays south. This could really hurt.
  11. I stopped off at JF, on my way home from CB, to do a few laps on exhibition. I was pleasantly surprised to see the quad running, so I spent a decent amount of time on Challenge, T-bolt, and Exhibition. The snow was still in good shape, but there are thin spots popping up. I didn't go to east mt., since I got my share of steep stuff at CB. Looks like I will get a day to sleep in, since JF is closed on Wednesday (damn rain).

    CB 3-18-08

Today I took advantage of the free pass for the second time. The snow was in excellent condition and they have a lot of it left. I went across the top of the mountain, then worked my way back west. I then spent the rest of my time lapping the birches and king tut, down through the meadows. The snow was fast and this route really allowed for some good turns. I also spent time lapping Big Pocono Run. Rocket and Pharaoh were closed. It appears at one point they blew snow on Margies and didn't groom it, because there are mounds on the top, but the trail itself was groomed. I'm now thinking about getting my second pass for CB, instead of Sno. I forgot how fun CB can be, especially on a non-crowded day.
  13. Last Monday of the season at JF .
  14. Today was a really good day. I woke up early to go to CB and the wind was calm at my house. The closer I got to Lake Harmony, the windier it go. I was concerned about the quads being shut down, so I called CB. I was right, they were on hold, so I got off at the Lake Harmony exit from 80 and went to JF. It was 24 degrees and windy, which made it feel colder, but the sun was out and helped out. I spent most of the day lapping East Mt. until 12:30, then went back and did a few laps on Exhibition. When the wind died down, I left at 1:30 and went to CB. It was 5 degrees warmer at CB and that really made a HUGE difference. The snow was a lot heavier and wetter than at JF. I floated around and found that cliff was the best, so I did a bunch of laps on that and raceway.
  15. Since they might be the only place around here open during the week, they should change their hours back to normal, or at least open at 9am. The last week of March is my long week at work and I'm not off during that week .
  16. So the bright orange fence accessory might not be a bad idea .
  17. Play nice. I've been a passholder there for a few years and the third week in March is usually when they close. Since BB will open at 10am, you might be able to get first tracks . That's also another reason to get an unlimited pass.
  18. JF was in decent shape on Sunday. They got about an inch of snow, prior to opening on Sunday .
  19. Mother nature helped out today by blowing 1" of fresh snow. Slow first thing, but really nice as the morning went on .
  20. Orange fencing optional?
  21. Shit, there was an error on the final week's hours. They changed them to 3-10pm. That means that I won't get to use my pass at all that week. I guess I'll have to spend my moldy money at Elk, the last week of March .
  22. As long as they keep Mittl Weg open and maintained, like last year. That will make me happy .
  23. They have.
  24. I might go on Friday. I'm off Monday and Tuesday, so I will go on those days, since I can enjoy them more, then hit JF on the way back.
  25. Wow, if you go every day of the remaining season, you could get in a season's pass worth of days.
