Quick, grounds crew tarp the slopes...it's thundering, lightning and raining like hell in Central PA...

Yeah, I couldn't really stand the way they made vast improvements in snowmaking, had excellent conditions every time I went, and have still been making snow when temps permit. I'm sure glad they didn't put up a windblock on the mt., or that would have really made things bad.
-
How about validating season passes and making pass holders get tickets everyday.....
-
I always wondered where all of the damn stones come from, when there is still a lot of snow left....same with the brown snow . It wasn't there at the beginning of the year.
-
I called Blue today, to make sure they were going to be open on Thursday, since JFBB is closing because of the forecast of thunderstorms, and they said they would be open until next week....don't know if they meant that was the last or not.

Where's the pics?? I went to bed around midnight Monday, ended up waking up around 5am with an upset stomach....figured it was from the hamburger I ate before I went to bed. My alarm clock went off at 7:30 am and I got out of bed to get dressed for skiing, then bam...more than the hamburger. Instead of making lots of runs at JF, I ended up making lots of runs in the toilet from both ends . I was really looking forward to the early morning snow. Pushing the clocks ahead earlier has made a noticalbe difference in the snow quality, first thing in the morning. I've been lucky, this is the first time that I was sick this year.

I'm not worried about BB, I'm worried about JF...I like JF a lot better.

Every year there seems to be one snow wrecking rain storm in March. The whole week's forecast has rain in it . From NOAA for Lake Harmony...this won't be good. "...HEAVY RAIN IS POSSIBLE AT TIMES FROM LATE WEDNESDAY INTO EARLY FRIDAY..."
-
I've heard from a few different employees that mid April, if not later, is there goal. If you skipped JF, you missed a great morning. The snow was still firm, when I left at 11:30 and it was 45 degrees out. It was just starting to soften up, a little bit.

I was there today (Sunday) and there was still a lot of snow in the trees when I left, at 11:30...it was a little icy off trail, though. I'll be there first thing Monday, for a couple hours before work. It's supposed to get down to 22 degrees at Lake Harmony, so it should be solid cord for the first hour or so, until it warms up. The grooming at JF is top notch.

The same ticket is good for both mountains and $25 for both places is a pretty good deal. The snow should be nice and soft. The snow stays a lot better at JF than BB, since it sits down in the valley. JF's park has a few jumps and maybe a rail or two, but they've turned JF into mainly a free riding/ skiing mountain, since BB is the park place. There is still a lot of snow in the woods/ trees to ride....and they allow you to do it. Go to JF to get in your free riding, then hit BB for the parks. If you like fast runs, go on East Mt. and hit lightining and bear right and hit the left side of Floyd's Folly (beware skier's right side of Floyd is bumped up).

Only problem is Jimmy goes to Sno and Johnny goes to Elk....or is it the other way around

Meanwhile, there was probably some pretty hot looking girl on the chair behind you who WAS checking you out

I pulled into the lot at 7:45 and it was a warm 31 degrees with a light wind blowing. I booted up and was on the snow by 7:58. The snow started off nice and firm and I bounced around to each trail for my first round. I then went to east mt. and did a bunch of laps....the snow was nice and gripable. After spending about an hour on east, I headed back over to the west part of the mt. and went onto a couple of the side trails, including one named moose. I believe they might have had something to do with cross country, but now they are mainly used to access the condos. After goofing around on the side trails, I went back over to the center of the mt. and concentrated on exhibition. The snow was really nice and soft and carvable by then. There were a decent amount of people out, by then. I became addicted to the snow and did run after run of nice, fast runs with lots of carves in them. I spoke to an empoyee on one of my rides up and he said that JF and BB are looking to stay open into mid April and BB will determine their date after that. That's a rumor that comes around every year, though. At least today I didn't wipe out any. Friday, at Sno, I was flying down switch and in the middle of a deep carve and tipped a little too much into the mountain and went on my side. I checked out the track I left and it almost looked like somebody on a snowboard had carved it. A guy, who came up to see if I was ok, said it was a really beautiful fall...I would almost classify it as a complete body carve instead of a fall . I was surprised at the number of people who were there, but the $25 ticket for a weekend is probably helping to boost their late season numbers.

Sounds good.

This Sunday 11th @ BB: BBQ luncheon 11:30 - 1:30 -- free for passholders Fun Race 11 am -- registration 9-10:30 The number to call on the info card they sent out is 570-443-8425 ex: 3017. They asked for RSVP, so I'd call and tell them you just recently got the pass.
-
Do you only get up to the mt. on weekends?
-
I'm at JF pretty much every weekend by 7:45, including this Sat. This Sunday I'll be at BB, since that is where the Passholder party is.
-
and you weren't even on paradise

Go! The cookies are from freshly blown snow, that will be groomed over a couple times by Friday. The icy patches were on Tuesday, from the wind.

Well, I got my 07-08 pass. I figured that I would save $80 by getting it now, since it goes up $50 after April and the debit card decreases by $30. If anybody hasn't figured it out by now, I'm not a great fan of changes, so I'm sticking with JFBB. The main reasons I'm sticking with JFBB is because the snow conditions are always excellent, on windy days the slopes aren't affected by it since they sit down in (the sun also doesn't get to the snow as much either), and the employees are really friendly and helpful. Although there are still the usual changes that I always bitched about, that I'm not too fond of. Regardless, I'll always probably have something in general to complain about, or I wouldn't be happy .

Like Jeff said, it was a sweet morning. We joked around with Craig a little and it was nice to meet him. Craig and I did a few more runs, after Jeff left, and did a run down raceway, from the double chair. Jeff also had somebody try to explain smart style to him, in the lift line, after a brief encounter on the hill . It also warmed up quickly. I started with a facemask, but kept it on because I was already acclimated to it. If they do, it sounds like you could also have a reporting job .

Maybe you need to undo the buckles on your boots when you are on the lift, this will help circulation. I always try to wiggle my toes on the lift, on cold days to keep circulation going.
-
I guess that's not as bad as trying to type and look at a computer screen while driving .

I think CB will definately make it. Oh wait, you mean closing in mid April, not by mid April .
