  1. I have to admitt, he does seem to be right with the things that I have seen and what I've read from his postings.
  2. As I approached on the main road, there was snow on the roadway, which is always a great sign . It was 24 degrees as I pulled in at 7:45 and all sorts of guns were blowing (small guns, big guns, etc.). Challenge was open with the big guns blowing on it. The left side of the trail was the less sticky side. East Mt. had snow blown on it and was sweet...the guns were off on that part of the mountain, so it was really great skiing. The fans on Challenge were turned off as the morning went on and the snow got packed down, making it less sticky, but it was still soft and nice. The snow was great, I just hate it that it is supposed to rain now . I left after 18 runs at 11:00 and it had warmed up to 38.
  3. I noticed a difference today. Last night's temps were marginal and they used the wisper guns on east mt. The snow was a lot better. The last time temps were marginal, they used the fans and the snow wasn't as good on the one headwall. I guess they all have their own purpose.
  4. I think you would almost have to open a new resort for a park only resort. Remember, BB is a family type resort where a lot of people go to learn how to ski/ ride. I think it would hurt their business. Around here, you need to have something that caters to everybody. I think it would really hurt their business. People like having the two resorts to choose from. Turning BB into a "park" would cut off the choices. They would also almost have to put night skiing in at JF, to accomodate the whole spectrum of customers, especially those who can't get out during the day. If they keep turning trails into parks
  5. The first few days that BB was open, people were going off the side of Tannenbaum to jump the edges. Doing this, they were running over the hoses to the fans/ guns. To me, that should be enough to get tossed off of the mountain. I couldn't imagine that this could be any good for the hoses.
  6. Hit JF today for a short 1:45 session for 12 runs. Fresh snow was blown and the coverage was really good. Things started to get pushed around by 9:45 and some sugar pile moguls were starting to form on Challenge. They must have taken Yummerzzz' advice for East Mt. They had a bunch of the tri-pods on the side and blew snow last night. It looked like they didn't use the fans, just the tri-pods. This made a big difference for coverage on East Mt. People were starting to file in as I left, but it wasn't overly crowded. I'm going for quality this year, instead of quantity....I think my knees will like me more. I just hope it gets COLD SOON, so they can open more trails...its getting boring on the same trails day after day.
  7. Tell them you have grass skis, maybe you could make some money renting them out.
  8. Yeah, I got that message again. I also was typing and a screen popped up, like you get when you go to a non-existent web site. Next thing I know, my topic is posted 8 times .
  9. Uh, you're one short
  10. I loved it as a "free trail"
  11. How have the crowds at BB been. I was thinking about going first thing Sat., but might just stay at JF since it
  12. Jane's lane would make a nice free riding/ skiing trail. If everything would be on one side of Widow, it might not be as bad, but being a narrow, winding trail is a down side of it being a park.
  13. I saw an add that Sno is going to be on "The Great Outdoors" on Fox 56 at 10:30 pm on Sun 31st.
  14. I like the two rollers at the top
  15. That's what happens when you take a popular free-ski trail and turn it into a park. The more trails you turn into a park, the more people you are going to have on them who aren't there to use the park. That's one of the reasons I don't like them turning Widow into a park. And you won't see these turned into "park pass" trails because they would loose money on people who go to just ski/ride. They might have been better to turn Little Boulder into a park, instead if Widow, that way two of the three parks would be in one spot and they both would be out of the way of other skiers/riders. I do like Tannenbaum being a regular trail now...it makes for a nice carving trail, if you want to mellow out.
  16. Maybe this thread should be re-titled "Who can keep the most trails open?"
  17. . Two more holidays to endure. I woke up this morning at 6:20 and was too tired to go to JF, after being there the last two mornings first thing. I'd go to BB tonight, but I'm sure it's a mad house . I'm probably better to take the night off and rest for Sat and Sun. morning.
  18. I was at JF on Thursday and didn't see any "mud pits" on the lifts that I used (one by janes lane, triples, quad, and east mt.). The lifts were running at top speed. They'll handle the rain just fine. The base is now frozen solid from the previous rain.
  19. JF is actually in good condition. East mountain was a little icy and had a few ruts first thing in the morning, but it loosened up as the day went on. I thought East Mt. was in a little better shape on Wednesday, but Friday should be pretty good since all of the new snow and ice will have been groomed over two days already. I'm heading to JF or BB. I might hit BB, since I was at JF the last two days.

    Dear Camelback

That seems to have been their motto since the end of last season. He has to be under 5 foot tall. They measure from the floor up, but he has to stand on a 3 foot high box..........
  21. They had to hold off on the upgrades until the suit was settled. There were days that they didn't make snow because the upgrades weren't done. What I meant was that at least some of the mountain could be open if all of this didn't happen. IE...they didn't sell or the stupid injunction didn't happen.
  22. Hmmm....I think my thread is going off course...................
  23. Still, wet snow is better than no snow.
  24. The county might not have lost out as much because the law suit is what is to blame for the delay.
