ski !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

From the looks of the snow, an epoxy and p-tex vendor could set up a stand and probably make a good profit.

I have three pair going. One spare dry pair in my bag, a pair on my hands, and the other pair at home drying out over top of a radiator. My heat is the "old style" radiator type, so I just put my gloves on top of them, because my hands also sweat inside of the gloves, despite how cold it gets.
-
I don't ride, I ski. I was out 56 times this season, including cold, windy days. The Wal-Mart gloves are actually really warm and have gore-tex in them. They are warmer than some of the more expensive types that I have tried. They do tend to wear quicker, in the fingers.

Do you mean they don't get much sun??

This might seem like a dumb question, but the book for my bindings, (marker lt motion), says to store them with the bindings in the "closed" position. Is this when the inside of the binding is pushed down (as if it is when you step into it)? The book really doesn't give a clear definition of "closed." To me, the binding would be "open," if the outer part of the binding would be pushed down (like you do when you release it with a pole to take your boot out). Am I correct? Would a "closed" binding look sort of like " / "

32 for 04-05....56 for 05-06.......pushing for at least 60 in 06-07.

Here's a link from a newspaper article about the jam: http://www.mcall.com/news/local/all-b3_1sn...0,1506237.story Here's a link to the photo: http://www.mcall.com/all-photojournal-0507...allery?index=12

The opposite side of the Mt. would be facing south, so it probably would melt quicker. I think it would be cool to have a Mt. where you have two sides to choose from .
-
I overheard somebody saying that BB has been trying to buy land on the other side of the mountain to expand, but the owner won't sell. Anybody know if this is true?
-
Every year, resorts "claim" they would like to open that early, but I think that JFBB is sincerely going to try to open at that time. One big difference and advantage they will have is a massive amount of new snow making pole fans...to the tune of $5 million according to their announcer. Peak resorts is making a hell of an improvement for the sister mountains. I heard an employee say that rivershot is supposed to get the fans, this would make the East Mountain unbeatable. They could probably, and I feel that they might, stay open late into April, if they put down as much snow on the entire mountains like they did on the BB park . I don't see any other reason to add that much money into snowmaking, unless you are going to take advantage of it. It's hard to imagine a local resort being open from Thanksgiving until late April, but it could become reality. All we need is for mother nature to help out.

I tried, but had it set to zoom and they came out really shitty and were blurry .

Here are a few pics from the rail jam. Sorry about the quality...they are from a camera phone.

Was he wearing sunglasses and have a greyish helmet on?
-
I also feel your pain.

I was there. I was surprised at how much snow was left. A little longer than a football field and decent width. The snow was also fairly deep, considering the temps. They kept making announcements about improvements for next year...supposedly over $5 millon for JF and BB for snowmaking, etc, during this off season. They are hoping to open for Thanksgiving and plan on having the rail jam again, the first week of May .

I'll be there in some form.

Question # 1. Do you think CB should blow snow on all of the mountain this year, or only half, since it seems like only half of the mountain is ever open?
-
A better name for that would be "Upper Poop Chute."
-
I saw an old trail, by the name of "the badlands" listed on a key to an old JF map, but the trail wasn't actually printed on the map. Anybody know where this trail was?
-
It's nice to finally see a rep from JFBB. Is the whole park trail going to be open, or just part of it? I assume you will have to hike?? Also, can we get any info on improvements for this coming season?
-
I took advantage of it five times, at the end of the season.

I read an article that said that it's no longer recommended to release the tension on ski bindings, for the summer. The article said that manufacturers now say to keep the settings the same, during the summer, because easing the tension on them can cause the springs to elongate, which would create problems when they are re-set for use. Anybody hear this? Now I'm wondering what would be best. The article said that bindings are now made to remain under pressure, unlike in earlier decades. What to do??
