Wow, what a difference the pole fans made. You can see them on the right side of the Boulder pic.

They could make a trail that goes half way down the mountain and dead ends and name it "half way closed" That would sort of represent the current trend. Or a mogul run with the name "Hooters and Humps."

I also like the way everything is set up because the beginners are to the far right of the mountain. If they move the park to the right, then the beginners are going to be mixed in more toward the center...which isn't good for either beginners or experienced riders / skiers.

Then there should be no excuse not to stay open longer .

Thanks for the report. I already had decided not to go, because I haven't been there before and I don't want to get the wrong impression of the place. Not to mention, the long drive kind of made me decide to wait until the upcoming season, when conditions are better.

. The new fans are what made that base. If they put those on other trails, they would definately be able to extend the season.

I might take my skis to get "summerized," next week. If I do, I'll try to take some pics.

I was debating about going to Killington on Monday April 17th. What type of coverage could I expect and does anybody think it would be worth a six hour drive??? I also noticed that they have trails listed as open, that go beyond the open lifts. Do you have to hike these, to the closest lift?

From the looks of the recent pictures, they could probably have at least three trails open, with the snow that they have.

I didn't think I would like skiing in the rain, but I actually did like it the one time I went. It was 50 degrees, so as long as it is warm, its not that bad.

I feel your pain...I had the same thing happen....planned on going Sunday, but an unexpected event put an end to that .

I never noticed before if the snow lasted this long at BB. I would imagine the new snow system added to this. Hopefully management will take note to this and stay open longer next season. Heck, they could put the snow back after the snow-cross, or get rid of the race. I would imagine that the race brings in too much $$$$ to get rid of it. The last day at JF, I spoke to an employee who said they expected 30 to 40 of the new pole fans at frost, this coming season. I would imagine Frost will be able to stay open longer, with this update, especially if they blow like heck. Bare essentials would be all you need. A lift attendant at the top and bottom, w/ no chair attendant (a warning could be posted...even though I would imagine that it would be mostly die-hards). Don't really need food services, unless if it would bring in money. Hours could be 8 am to 1 pm, to avoid really bad snow, due to the heat. Lift tickets $10 general, $5 for pass holders after April 1st. I'm a pass holder and would pay $5 for a ticket, because I know that they need revenue to keep things going. PS...I now refer to it as "this coming season." It sounds less depressing than "next year."

You should. It's a nice little mountain with a couple decent diamonds, even though they are short. I have to admit that I'm a little biased toward it, because that is where I first learned to ski, three years ago and it's been ever since. A couple of the lifts are actually pretty fast, for the size of the mountain. I kind of ignored it this year and went to JF, until the end, but now I wish I would have gone to BB more. I wonder if they pushed some snow around if they could still have a few trails open? The pics look like there is still a lot of snow left, especially on the Big Boulder trail.

I planned on going Sunday, but a family emergency changed my plans.

Hunter would be the best choice, because they are still open .

CB is probably getting their water park ready, so that wouldn't be suggested. Personally, I wouldn't risk the trespassing charge, anywhere, because you might face a misdemeanor charge, which could lead to a record and being on probation. It's not worth it .

That will suck. The chair the services that slope is really, really, really slowwwwwwww. Unless, if you stick with the current lift.

Approx. how many times can you get you edges sharpened, on a set of skis, before you where them down too much? Also, can the metal edges be replaced, if they would get damaged bad by something like a rock? These were just two questions that randomly popped into my head. I now have too much time to think .

Anybody know how Alpina ski shop on Rt 940, in Whitehaven, is for tuning equip.? I was thinking about taking my skis there to have them prepped for the summer. I assume it's about the same, anywhere.

You might want to consider Hunter. Belleayre only has one lift running and half the trails that Hunter has open. That's the reason I'm heading to Hunter.
