The morning started off with fresh wax and edges on the skis, and even a little fresh natural powder from mother nature. The East Mt. stayed good all day. Challenge and Demattes also stayed pretty good. Stayed away from Exhibition, one of my favorite cruising trails, except for the 1st run... it started to get thin and by the end of the day there were two large rocks visible. I also didn't like the way Thunderbolt looked, but went down it a few times and it was better than what it looked. Not sure what the west side (greens) was like, because I didn't venture over there. The snow got soft by the end of the day, but didn't give you many problems if you kept up speed and plowed through it. Sunday will be a day to hit every trail at least once, because I have a feeling that might be the last day, despite the extra french fries that I bought, to help up the cash flow.

I spoke to a few employees at JF today (Sat 25) and they told me they did not know yet if they were going to be open next weekend. At the end of the day, I overheard a ski patroler say they might be open next weekend, but weren't sure. The updated website doesn't even say. I'm treating it as the last day, because personally, I don't see them being open, with the forecast. Either way, I'm heading to Elk during the week. It's weird...last year all the locals closed the last week of March, with no debates and excellent coverage. This year, the coverage isn't as good as last year, but some of them are trying to stretch it out.

Little late for this response, but JF closes at 4. According to the weather, at the time of this post, it was snowing...hopefully this helps out Saturday's conditions. Yeah, they know but don't care. Elk is actually open until April 2. JF wasn't sure, today when I was up. It all depends on their financial intake, from what I was told. So, everybody get up there...I'm a passholder, but bought extra food today to help out .

Friday, Saturday, and Sunday

I've only been there three times, so I will pose this as a question. Wouldn't it be more beneficial to put another quad on the far right side of the mountain? Unless if I am wrong, where they intend on putting the six pack won't be able to service the far right side, will it? It seems like the current quad and six pack will be too close. I would guess there were no crowds .

Dumb question, but is there something added to the snow at Blue, because I could smell something, today, but couldn't figure out what it was?

The title translates into the date 3-33-06. 8:30 am again. Only my third time there, coincidentally it's my third day in a row. Let's see...3 more months of school compared to a few days or weeks of skiing/riding...

Wasn't too bad of a day. Really windy, causing top layer to blow of at the top of Razors and Challenge.

I come from central PA and go I-80 to ex. 277 and get on the turnpike south (476) to ex. 74 onto 209 south, then onto 248 east. Is there a quicker way? This takes about 1 hr 20 mins.

Oh....I have marker LT motion bindings. Do you have any idea if these have anything like that? I have to break out the book...I'm not to familiar w/ technical stuff on the settings.

I thought the same thing. They closed or shut down half the mountain on a frequent basis. I'd be if I was a passholder. They wasted money on a new piece of equipment; therefore, they could not afford to blow more snow. I guess what they were saying is that they would have closed more often, but would look dumb after investing in a new groomer that was supposed to alleviate those problems. It's obvious that they care more about the water park. "Much anticipated mid-March snow . " We didn't have any snow earlier, why would we get it now. Even if the two "storms" that went to the south did come through, they would only have give us a couple of inches.

I sort of thought they would stay open, since everybody else is. I don't know if I would be bragging about the winch cat, since they closed before some of the other resorts. All the other resorts made it through the same conditions, when they said that they would be losing trails if, they didn't have the winch cat.

Remember, the key word is "Trying." I hope they can.

I heard today that JF is trying to stay open until the first weekend in April. I think that at least the east mt. could make it, because there is still a lot of snow on that side.

Well, I finally made it Tuesday. I thought the conditions were pretty good. Although I hit a rock on Challenge and scuffed up my edge...oh well I guess that's spring skiing. The fresh powder was nice. I started out on Paradise and went to razor's edge, then challenge. Paradise wasn't much fun...the man made powder stopped you in spots. I got 28 runs in, so I was satisfied. The only thing that didn't impress me was the amount of bottles and garbage under the lifts. The fact that they had pierogies really impressed me ...it's almost unheard of to find them at ski resorts, around here. One thing I was wondering, there looks to be an unused trail that goes under the quad, or is that just an access road for the lifts? I made out pretty good with the $10 off for business cards, plus I have the 1/2 off coupon that I plan on using Wednesday. There was a decent amount of people there, in the morning, although I could tell if most people has passes or bought tickets.

Gives more meaning to the term "love hurts." You can't stand the feeling when something you love is no longer available.
