I also take all things into consideration. I take me about 65 minutes to get to CB and 80 minutes to get to Elk. Even though Elk is a little longer drive and the lifts are slower, I head to Elk because it's a bigger mountain and doesn't appear as commercialized as CB. Only down side is you have to go first thing in the morning, to get the most out of the runs, because only four trails are open at night.

I don't like the idea of adding chemicals. Last thing I want is for my legs to be eaten away.

Anybody know what the cash purse was, from the competitions?

From looking at their website, it says the got 3" of snow on Sunday and the pics look like it was coming down pretty good. Only problem is, this time of the year, 3" doesn't stay around long...although it's better than nothing.

Well, I didn't get there Monday. I woke up at 6:15 and was exhausted from skiing and being up early the last few days. Tuesday will be the day I go.

This was on their home page Sunday night...like I said above. Might also be "peer pressure." "Camelback plans to close for the 2005-2006 season today, March 19th at 5:00pm. If cold temperatures continue and the weather cooperates Camelback will reopen on Friday, March 24th through Sunday, March 26th. Camelback will make a decision by Tuesday, March 21st."

I've always thought the opposite, because JF sits down inside of the mountain. BB sits up higher, but the temps are actually a little colder at JF because it is sheltered more.

That must have been last Sunday when it rained. I was there this Sat. and Sun. and I thought the conditions were really good. They pushed a lot of snow around and groomed it over really nice. First thing in the mornings, it seemed like there was fresh powder groomed over, on the top.

I plan on heading to Blue on Monday and have never been there. I was just looking for some input on which runs to hit first, for warmups and what anybody suggests after that. Also, how is parking. I know the lot will be empty, but are there any areas that are closer, that I should look for?

I checked w/ some employees at JF and they said there hasn't been a closing date set yet. They said they are open next Fri. 24, Sat. 25, Sun. 26. They are not sure yet about the weekend after that. It would be something if the stayed open into April .

While going up the East Mt. lift, I saw two people snow plowing their way down river shot, not in a pizza wedge, but completely turned to one side. They were floating from one side of the trail to the other. I don't know if one of them didn't know how close to the edge they were, but one of them hit the edge and the other person knocked them over it and into the gully onto the wooded area. A classic reason why people should not go onto trails they can't handle.

I plan on heading to Blue on Monday. How many runs can you get in, in a four hour period? I have to be out of there by 2:30, so I don't know if I should spend the extra $8 for 2 hours....yeah I'm cheap.

I have a feeling that CB will open back up, seeing that other resorts are now planning to stay open. But then again, they have the waterslides to make up the money.

JF announced that they are still going to be open, so they might help keep it from being super crowded.

To answer my own question...I went Saturday and conditions were excellent

Well, I've been using rub on wax, by boardside down, for over a month now. I put it on every night before I plan on going skiing. It seems to be working ok. I don't buff it or cork it, I let the mountain do that part. I just crayon it on reallly good. I've noticed a difference since using it CONSTANTLY...the bases of my skis even appear to be "healthier" looking. I just thought I'd post this observation. Although, I still periodically get my skis hot waxed.

From what I've been reading, it seems that a lot of the local resorts are lacking crowds. This is really depressing because without the crowds, the season will end quicker. I don't know if people think the resorts don't have any snow, or what the problem is. Boulder had a decent turnout in the morning/ afternoon, but when I left at 5, it looked slow for a Friday night. I spoke to a couple who said they drove three hours and said they started to worry because they didn't see any snow on the ground, the closer they got. Don't people realize, almost all the snow that area resorts have is man made, or do they think there are magical storm clouds that hover over the slopes? Maybe the local resorts need to advertise more, to let the people know that they still have good snow.

Did anybody get to JF this Friday? I ended up staying at BB, and was wondering if anybody had a report on Frost's conditions.

Now I'm really confused. They spent all day Thursday re-doing the large park. Friday it didn't open until around noon, then they closed it around 4 pm. . Anybody have any idea what the logic was behind this??? It seems like a lot of time was spent by the park crew and it's not getting much use the last few days.

I think that might be the problem all over . Boulder still has really good coverage. I thought Boulder would be more crowded, since CB was closed Thursday. It wasn't dead, but there were no lines. I left at 5 and it was steady, as far as people getting on the chairs, but not as much as I anticipated

I don't see why BB is closing already, this weekend. I know they have the snowmobile event next weekend, but I'd think they could at least be open during the week....considering the amount of snow they have left and they just re-did the big park .
