I see they are now opening on Friday. It says that mid week vouchers can be used toward the purchase of a weekend pass. That's BS if they are charging the balance, since they closed mid week.
-
Camelback doesn't have to worry about money, since they have the waterslides in the summer. Also, I would imagine that it is cheaper to run the waterpark.
-
That's why I stick with JFBB. Bigger isn't always better.
-
Come to think of it, don't....that way the snow stays fresh .
-
If there snow stays as good as boulder was this morning, I don't see why they can't stay open until the 25th and 26th.
-
Go to boulder. They are still open and the conditions are excellent!!
-
I was surprised at how good the conditions were this morning (3-14) at Boulder. The snow was nice and soft, edge to edge, no icy spots, and no brown spots . The groomers did an excellent job at getting the snow back to good quality. It should get even better over the next few days, with the temps going down.

Not to mention I didn't put sunblock on and got fried.

I hope this doesn't mean they are closing next week. JF is usually open longer that BB. . It's also supposed to get cold, during midweek. Overall, today was a good day at Jack Frost. The snow was excellent in the morning, but got a little extra soft in the afternoon. Everybody seemed to be in good spirits and was having fun. There were numerous people wearing just t-shirts and shorts. Even a few of the ski patrolers were wearing shorts. The most humerous thing was one of the ski patrolers had shorts on and an orange "thin cover" circle hanging off of him. I guess that's what it is all about, having fun .

That's the depth of the snow on Big Boulder Terrain Park. That is the slope that has all the new Pole cat snow tower fans. They plan on adding more at JF/BB, from what I've been told. Like I posted before, these things put out a blizzard of snow. Unfortunately, not all the trails have that much snow. If they did, they would be able to got through April. It wasn't that deep, last year. The new company that runs JF/BB has, and is, investing a lot in snowmaking. From what I've read, Peak Resorts is all about snowmaking...so far they have held true to this. That's what I heard today. JF is supposed to be open a week later than BB, until the 26th. I also was told JF was only going to be open on Fri., Sat., and Sun., but I'm not sure if that is this coming week, or the week of the 26th. Either way, that sucks that the end is coming

Last night of night skiing/boarding 03-11-2006

Elk has it posted that March 12 is the last night of night skiing. -
What's this? Is it a groomer that grooms into piles?
-
I noticed this also. Last year half of thunderbolt and floyd had bumps on them. Either it's the new management or maybe the lack of natural snow. (Although they let rivershot bump up for a couple days at the end of Feb., when they blew snow).
-
The locals should be able to hold out for a few more weeks. It's supposed to get cold again next week and some of the computer models are hinting at a snowy period from mid to late March. Although I will believe it when I see it.

From their website today. "Season Pass holders from other ski areas may present their current season pass at Elk and receive a $20 Lift Ticket! This offer is valid anytime for the balance of Elk Mountain's Season!" I might have to take advantage of this .

Is there some type of comp this weekend
bigdaddyk replied to Papasteeze's topic in Jack Frost & Big Boulder
Only thing that I'm aware of is the Pass Holder's Party on Sunday. There is a "fun race" scheduled for that day and anybody can sign up. -
Kind of dumb to have a Thursday off. I'd add Friday to that, to make a four day weekend .
-
Try now....you beat me to it before I posted them .

The size of this impressed me....also took a pic of the snow depth, of BB's large park, from the lift. These were taken 3-7-06. They're not the best, but as good as you can get from a camera phone.
-
The size of the quarter pipe impressed me. I put a couple pics in the picture gallery. quarter pipe

From looking at the trail map, it looks like you have to skate uphill, from the phoebe quad lift to get to some of the diamonds...is this true? Also, how are the lines, during midweek, since they only have one lift open for the harder trails?
-
Only problem is, Elk doesn't allow tree skiing. There are signs all over saying this.

Here's a couple pics from last year that I took with a camera phone, but it doesn't do the view any justice. You have to see it in person.
