I've been goofing around with an old pair of goggles. It seems that the insides scratch a lot easier than the outside. I assume it's due to the anti-fog. The wool pads that have soap or the plain ones .

And I was going to go to CB on Monday, but didn't because everytime I've gone, during warm spells, the snow seemed to be mushy, wet, and heavy.

The conditions on Mon. Jan 9th were a lot better than I thought they would be at JF. The snow got soft, but never got lumpy or mushy. No matter how warm it gets, the snow always seems to stay decent at JF, I guess due to the elevation and sitting inside the mountain.

Anybody figure out how to clean lenses, without scratching the hell out of them? I've tried everything I could think of, but I always end up scratching the lenses and it gets annoying.

I have a pair of clear Oakely's that I use at night and a pair of tinted light enhancing Scott's. The Scott's fit better around my eyes and don't pinch as much as the Oakelys. I also have a pair of clear wrap around safety glasses that I use at night, when it's not really cold, because I can't stand air blowing into my eyes.

I've been thinking about getting a helmet for sking. Is there anything specific I should look for, such as features, brands, etc, or are they all about the same?

I just checked accuweather and they changed the temps back to warm, toward the end of the 15 period

I hope the rain misses us. I noticed at JF that there are bare/ icy spots popping up. If we get much more rain, it's going to put a lot of the mountains back to step one...making a possible great year a possible horrible year.

"BTP" = Beginner's Terrain Park.

JF was crowded today. The snow wasn't mushy, but it did get lumped up and icy / thin spots did start showing up. There were way too many people on the East Mt. who didn't belong there. It was a pain going down the headwalls because all the misplaced people would stop part way down and just stand there, because they had no clue how to go down a diamond. Way too many "one time a year" people.

I was at JF on Thurs., Fri., and Sat. and I thought the conditions were really good. The snow didn't get real loose, even though the temps got into the mid 40's on Sat. JF always seems to have good snow, probably due to it sitting down inside of the mountain and the elevation being so high. It also seems to be able to withstand the rain. They have most of the mountain open and a rep. even said that this is the most they've had open, so early. I just hope that the cold weather comes back. It would suck if it turned out to be a warm winter, and we were only being teased early.

Yeah, but once approved, do you have to keep the costume on? And how about Mrs. Claus?

I saw that JFBB's web site has an interactive section where you can build your own park and it now has an interactive map of their parks.

Quick question about drying boots. Would it hurt to turn them upside down and put them on top of a radiator to dry them out? I used to do that with rentals and didn't notice any negative effects, but I am hesitant since I now own boots. I took out the inner boot and did this, with my new boots, but it is a pain to constantly do this and I am afraid of tearing or damaging the inner boot. I guess my question is, could/ would the heat from the radiator be enough to damage the plastic shell. I've looked at the insert dryers that you plug into the wall, but I don't like the idea of doing this overnight, like the instructions say, because if they would short out I'm sure the inner boot would catch fire easily .

I'll be there . I hope there's more open than what the web page has listed. I find it hard to believe that they could only have a few trails open, with all the cold days they have had to make snow.

My Rossi elite exp 3 boots have a "flex adjustment" ( soft / hard) located above the heel area. I've tried both settings on dry land, but haven't noticed any difference. The instructions say that this is to be suited for height/ weight / power. Anybody know exactly what this setting does and which would be the best for an intermediate skier??? The booklet isn't much help. Thanks.

While on the topic of new boots. I got Rossi elite exp 3's. This is my first pair of boots, I've always used rentals. I had a question about the canting forward or backward of them. I noticed that they seem to be more comfortable, canted almost straight up, instead of forward. However, there seems to be more play in them when they are straight, as opposed to canted forward. Is there more of an advantage having them canted forward...I know that shin pressure should be kept on the tongues. Or is it just a matter of preference? Thanks.

I hope they update the website more, during the season. It seems like it is being overlooked right now.

I haven't seen anything on the Home page or conditions page. It still says that the opening date will be announced. Until then, its only a rumor to me

That's how I feel about JF starting so late, at blowing snow.

I also like living in the east, more than I would in the west. More choices is what I like.

I got the largest size.

Three weeks....that's no earlier than last year . At least they have a decent amount of snow. My home mtn. only blew for a few days, which I would imagine a lot of it is melting away.

I just got a pair of cat tracks for my boots, to protect the bases. These were a pain to put on/ stretch. Has anybody used these and do they eventually stretch and become easier to put on? I have a dumb feeling that if they don't stretch out, I'm gonna end up snapping them, when they get cold.
