The Official Bring Back The Elevator Petition Thread
bigdaddyk replied to phillycore's topic in Jack Frost & Big Boulder
That might be the best request. -
I didn't see either rock, and I'm really anal about avoiding rocks and I live on the left side of exhibition...I'll have to keep my eyes open. Are you sure it's not something that the groomer kicked up, because I didn't think that anything was that thin? There is a pile of snow at the bottom of the east mt. lift. It's where challenge comes down into the lift area, near the tower gun. Those will get covered over. There were ice spots coming off the lifts, in the afternoon. After the nice day yesterday and the crowd, it didn't surprise me. The groomers will take care of all this.

The right side of Challenge was the best, ungroomed fan powder. I ended up lapping it 10 times in a row, at opening. Two days in a row of freshly blown powder . Ended up with 30 runs from 8 until 1230, on Saturday.

Jack Frost Saturday 2-21-09 Roll Call

I'll be there at 8. Hopefully they blow on rivershot again and leave it ungroomed again. Rivershot was sweet today . -
Snowmaking at Jack Frost
bigdaddyk replied to Heather-Big Boulder's topic in Jack Frost & Big Boulder
I'm suddenly rich and don't have to work no more ? Seriously though, that's excellent news . I had a feeling that the fans guns on thunderbolt weren't put away, for a reason. -
50 runs is the most I've done. Floyd's was nicely groomed cord.
-
Looks good. If it wasn't for the holiday rates this week and more people, I would have went there today. I've never been there.
-
. They do have enough snow, right now. Hopefulley we don't get any rainy and / or warm spells. There were a couple areas that they touched up last Friday. There is plenty of snow that could be pushed around. I didn't even know that they were blowing at BB. It's been cold enough that they really haven't had to blow snow, since they got everything open. It would be nice to have everything buried, but that's lost revenue, if you don't need to do it. I still wouldn't mind some new snow, though .

I get mine done at JF or Alpina. If you're in a hurry, JF is nice because you can ski, drop them off at the shop, and they warm them up then service them. You usually get them back in under a half hour. I've never had any problems at either place.

It was actually really nice today . I got in 40 runs in 5.25 hours. The sun helped to loosen things up and the granular stuff is now starting to get mixed in with the other snow. When I got there at 8:30 it was 19. When I finished at 1:45, it was 34. I had the day off and was going to go to Elk, but decided to stay at JF and putz around the moutain, on areas that I tend to skip.
-
Blow more snow. Everybody else is doing it. Submit to peer pressure.
-
I think they only blew snow one night.
-
I didn't even think of that. I guess I might just hit Elk or JF.
-
Should be decent by Tuesday. Get there first thing. I plan on heading somewhere else, on Tuesday. Elk was one of my options. I'm debating Windham, or a day trip to Killington.
-
I was there today and lapped between exhibition and challenge, mostly. I didn't read this until now, or I would have looked for you.
-
JF was sweet, first thing. Lapped Exhibition numerous times. The snow was really nice, because it got blow over from one park. I also lapped one park, since it had the most new snow. I stayed until 10:30, and had no problems skiing right up to the chair.
-
I was actually wondering about that. I saw the one portable on rivershot, today. I noticed the new outlets throughout the area at the beginning of the year (t-bolt, exhibition, etc). Weird how you pick up on things like that. I would assume that the fans would be more cost effective, at this point.

Thunderbolt is listed as one of the trails that they are going to blow on, but all of the hoses are still put away, for those guns .
-
Please add Exhibition to the list . From the website: " The plan is to make snow on the following slopes at Jack Frost starting Thursday depending on the temperatures but for sure on Friday night going into Saturday. River Shot Challenge Thunderbolt One Park Ski School Jane's Lane Powder Puff Snow Flake Frosty Easy Rider Conditions for the holiday weekend will be great! "

JFBB Season Passes Going on Sale
bigdaddyk replied to Papasteeze's topic in Jack Frost & Big Boulder
This early in the year, it can easily be two seasons for the price of one. -
There's usually plenty of snow to last into mid April. The problem here is that there isn't enough people, to keep the places open that long.
-
Groomed Frozen cord, first thing. I actually would have rather gone out at 10, instead of 9, because it didn't start to break up until around 10:30. I actually noticed over the last few days that they have started putting the hoses away on trails like thunderbolt and over on east mt. Looks like snow making might be done. Although, things should stay pretty good, barring any rainy warm spells.

Dead link.........

Boulder had excellent conditions, but crowd wise it was also dead, which surprised me. I didn't go over to freedom, but BB park was empty. I thought the snow would bring people out.
-
I almost went to CB, but figured it would be scraped off and mushed around, so I went to BB, since they open at 3 and I got a late start.
