  1. I've never hated rain more in my life.
  2. Not sure how you boo snow in a forecast on a ski message board. I think Salty suffered temporary amnesia and forgot that the S and R in PASR stands for "Ski and Ride" and not something else like "Starwars Rules" or "Saltys Revenge"
  3. Skis. Still need bindings for said skis. Oh and a helmet.
  4. Don't get me wrong as much as I enjoy the camaraderie of fellow PASRs on the hill, not skiing with another PASR hardly makes one irrelevant.
  5. If it had one more decent local hill on it I'd grab one.
  6. WNEP card is out for '18 / '19... We are excited to announce the 2018-2019 Ski Card! You can purchase a ski card that is good for one full day lift ticket at each of the following local ski resorts: Whiteface Mountain– Lake Placid, NY Ski Big Bear– Pennsylvania Jack Frost / Big Boulder– Pennsylvania Mountain Creek– New Jersey Shawnee Mountain– Pennsylvania Ski Sawmill– Pennsylvania Swain Mountain– New York Tussey Mountain– Pennsylvania You may redeem this for either weekday or weekend lift tickets. That’s right, you can ski on the weekend with the WNEP Ski Card! Please note that this is not valid for holidays (Please see holiday dates in restrictions below.) The best part about this deal is that you can ski each of these great resorts for only $124 total! That’s more than a 75% savings from purchasing a lift ticket to each mountain, individually! If you want to take advantage of this great deal, then you’d better act fast as quantities are limited
  7. When Snowbird and Steamboat engage in a Twitter war..
  8. PC being there made it much better (although he was in different group than me). I was jealous of Dan who just skied and didn't have to check in on the hour.
  9. You're right. In addition to the teaching thing I also did the ski marketing thing. Same premise certainly applies
  10. In theory it sounds like a great deal (free pass, paid to ski, discount passes for your family etc.) but in reality it, like anything else that pays you, is work. You have to be there at a certain time. Your name is on a schedule, there are shifts, tests, certifications etc. It becomes an obligation. Part 2 of the instructor thing is the whole technique and training thing. Sorry but for me spending time on the hill, when not teaching, to focus on ankle flex or whatever the hell technique related activity that was going on that day is not for me. I found it to be a very "hey look at me and my awesome form and this is what you need to do to look like me" vibe. Then there was the infamous whirlybird session day that actually had me rethinking my life. Lol Others may disagree and if you're cool with that then great. No judgement here. Truly. But my stupid ass just wants to get to the mountain without being on a schedule, ski until I'm ready to call it a day, not obsess about what I look like (granted I'm not trying to look like a shit head either), and have as much fun as I possibly can during that time. I don't regret it at all but I will say that I can't recall a day when I was busy with lessons or there as an instructor period, where I had that glow after leaving the mountain because of the ski day that was. It happens all the time otherwise.
  11. Shits kinda scary out there right now. Not gonna lie. Tornado warnings are popping up on our phones, power was out briefly, raining hard, lightning etc.

I love how you speak for the majority of PASR. If i could make it this weekend, I'd consider heading up. Octoberfest at Elk sounds like a fun time.

Excellent. How's yours? You coming to ski moose with everyone?

My weekend is insane, otherwise sounds like a lot fun. Rummy I'll definitely have to catch up with you on Elk PASR day. Funny story. Was talking through my vacation day situation with my wife earlier; and to quote her "aren't you taking a day to go to that place? What's it called again... Moose?" haha
  16. Same. While I understand the love for the lower lot (sans pot holes), I don't quite get the upper lot hate.
  17. I'm predicting Black Friday... primarily because that's what I hope happens. I do love those first few weeks at Blue. Midweek nights on Main St, Come Around and Lazy with no one there is always fun; like that night Salty was there last season; in awe that PASRs can actually ski really well. Haha
  18. Sweet. Where were you hiking?
  19. Most certainly. I need Blue to announce their tent sale already...I need bindings
  20. While I like the idea of a Vail picking up Blue one day and classing up the joint, there's something pretty cool about Blue still being "mom & pop" owned yet annihilating the competition in skier visits. Plus blue is doing stuff (or trying to). Makes me feel better about dropping dough at Blue year in and year out. What investments have Peak made in JFBB over the last however many years? Not being a dick but truly wondering. I really like Frost but it looks exactly the same as it did when I was there for my 6th grade ski trip making my friends jealous cause i was rocking out to Dr. Feelgood by Motley Crue on the bus ride up. How will Roundtop, Whitetail etc. actually benefit? Or do they?
  21. I like the whole Vail Resorts buying Blue notion
  22. First one I've seen in a while
  23. The excitement levels are rising for sure. Side note... Drove past Blue two days ago and "coming soon" looked finished to me. I think this is the year we finally get a name for it (queue Doug with a Barb's Bush joke). My guess for the name.... "Edge of Paradise" Boom! you heard it here first. No name will ever beat "Here be Dragons" at Solitude.
  24. Elk is 1000 feet higher than Blue at it's peak. #microclimate #altitudesickness #rimeice #drypowder
