12/21…fourth opening day..a little slick.
RidgeRacer replied to GrilledSteezeSandwich's topic in Blue Mountain
Can you imagine a towrope at a pocono resort, with pocono crowds / visitors? Film and send to America’s Funniest Home Videos for sure. -
I’m not saying that but you know better than most there’s a different vibe that exists in certain areas. I’ve actually had this conversation with Barb before. Places do exist west of the Mississippi where the Barb to Karen ratio is probably like 100 to 1.

That’s so infuriating to read and you’re right…it is the mentality. A stark reminder of how badly I need out of here. “Here” as in northeast, east coast…whatever.l

My goodness. We can’t get a break.

This site was probably designed for "Netscape Navigator"

Looks like it’s working now

We just got a call from the school district. I thought maybe a Christmas miracle happened overnight a d the rain changed to snow. Nope...busses are delayed because of excessive flooding on the roads

Saturday 12/16…another mild day. Free falling
RidgeRacer replied to GrilledSteezeSandwich's topic in Blue Mountain
Today was so much fun. Perhaps the best session of the season so far for me. Spent a lot of time today like Tom Petty....Free Fallin'. Good snow on that side despite the narrow trails and thin cover. Some leg burning later as bumps formed. Upper and lower dis is definitely narrow but the middle was ok. Blue pulled it out. Good on them! Despite the flood warning for palmerton hoping its not too terrible. Pray for cold next week. -
Nice. can I play this game too? The lottery ticket I have says “free ticket”. But to me it says I won $1,000,000. Let’s see what the lady at the gas station says when I go to cash it in. Lol

That reminds me of @rummys place at Elk

Nile mile isn’t a trail at blue

This mornings conditions were nice. A good crew on hand. Great day! Skiing in nice temperatures and bright sunshine is always great but obviously this time of year it’s not ideal. Lots of people today too prompting you to hit the brakes a lot. Went to get my oil changed after skiing and walked to the coffee shop while waiting and dang it was warm out.

Hopefully I'm wrong but I don't think p dis or freefall is opening this weekend, at least not based on my observation from the quad this morning and GSS is right...razors will be gone after Sundays weather

Stupid name. CB should correct that. The Romans were enemies of Egypt at the time. Although Cleopatra did have a child with Caeser and Mark Antony...but that's was a thousand plus years after Tut, Ramses etc.
-
Bucket list for me...no doubt. Wait till the national museum opens at Giza though. That shits gonna be incredible. All of tut's treasures are being moved there. Plus lots of other cool stuff. The museum was built in the shadow of the pyramids. Supposedly has an atrium area with an incredible view of them. I'd like to start from Cairo to Giza to Luxor to see the valley of the Kings.

I’ve actually been watching a lot of documentaries recently about ancient Egypt. I find myself fascinated by the new kingdom, namely the reign of Ramses II. Tutankhamun (his actual name…camelback should update the trail name to be historically accurate) believe it or not, wasn’t a very popular Pharaoh…as in he didn’t do much. His reign was short and likely tumultuous as he took the throne at the age of 9 and passed at 19. It wasn’t until just over 100 years ago when Howard Carter and his team discovered the tomb of Tutankhamun, literally untouched, that propelled Tut into what we know of him today. That discovery was huge because it’s the only tomb of of a pharaoh found that wasn’t looted by grave robbers. When they found Tutankhamun not only was his mummy intact (and viewable today by visitors) it was covered in multiple golden coffins and the tomb was filled with over 5000 artifacts….including things like the sandals he wore, his thrones, gold everywhere, beautiful works of art etc. literally thousands of years old. Incredible. The thing is Tutankhamuns tomb however is tiny compared to the other pharaohs of that time…which may mean that he passed suddenly. To this day they can and do still x ray his mummy to look for bone fractures etc. Ancient Egypt is cool. The ONLY thing camelback has that’s better than blue are it’s trail names.

Weekend roll call thread 12/15-12/17..
RidgeRacer replied to GrilledSteezeSandwich's topic in Blue Mountain
Tomorrow morning for sure. Saturday is up in the air as I'm headed south to J Town. Sunday at some point -
It has a couple of stops. I know other lifts have multiple stops but I believe this one has sort of an angle, turns uphill and can drop you off right above legacy lodge. Honestly it's a nice option to have because now you can go to little WF summit easily from bear den. So when skiing down from the summit or anywhere for that matter you can veer off into bear den for something different and easily get back up top right from there

Freefall and pdis for next weekend. Book it. Blue’s gonna flex this week for sure and show off their snowmaking prowess. Not terribly cold but cold enough and clear skies all week. See you all on the quad next weekend. LFG
