Take him up on it R2. -
Now phillycore you know silly threads like "how was floyds" take precedence over legitimate ski threads like this one here on PASR. Anyway great link. Awesome video.

Ditto to what Phillycore said above. Powder Mt. - amazing snow. Powder Country is very cool, worth the bus ride back. Skiers left and right off of the Paradise chair was very nice also. I'm not a huge fan of traversing but some of the other "hidden" stuff was well worth it. Didn't get to ski the Cat accessible areas - maybe next time. The trail map is VERY deceiving. Snowbasin - Loved everything off the Strawberry. That and the steeps off of the Tram were worth the trip. Kinda wishing we hiked to the other stuff but the stuff off the lifts were good enough. They do put a lot of money into their facilities. The cafeteria staff even wear ties and they wiped our table before eating lunch - classy. I like the fact that the place has 2 gondis and a tram. Alta is everything Phillycore mentioned. Cool laid back atmosphere too. High Rustler alone makes everything we skied at Basin seem tame. That plus the chutes off the wildcat, the stuff off the Supreme chair, The ballroom, etc. The list goes on. We didn't even touch the Catherine's area (didn't feel like hiking) - Next time. All of that being said - I'm officially a Snowbird junkie now. I will be back again and again. Maybe it's because we skied it on a powder day (with pretty much the entire Salt Lake Valley) but I'm pretty sure I've found my home out west. Lots of vert, Steeps freaking everywhere, Mineral Basin, Gad Valley's trees, The Cirque, open bowl areas like Regulator Johnson plus lots of other hike to areas that we didn't even touch. There's absolutely no run out. It's steep from top to bottom. Just look at the map. There are more diamonds here than the Gahcho freaking Kue diamond mine in Canada! The tram gets you up in literally like 7 minutes and it's a long way down. The Bird is where it's at. -

Just back from our 4th and final ski day in the beehive state. This time at Alta which is sick to say the least. The snow was polar opposite from yesterday at basin. Alta holds powder. That plus the few inches that fell on us in the morning made for great conditions. We started the day off riding the Collins lift to the top. We got our legs warmed up on Mambo down to Collins face back to Collins lift to the base. Back up the Collins to the ballroom area then back down. From the we took the rope tow to the other side. Jumped on the Sunnyside lift to sugar loaf to the top. Great views of snowbird and mineral basin could be had from here. We decided to bear right down sugar bowl through some steeps, trees, gullys you name it to the supreme lift at 10,500 feet. The Catherines area was open but we didn't feel like hiking so we went right down challenger and some steep tree runs. We beared as far left as we could to get back to the sugarloaf. We took that back to the top of collins back to ballroom to the base. Phillycore and I decided to hit the high rustler area while Dan (who was demoing) changed skis. High rustler is absolute money. Steeps, powder, trees, gullys etc. The three of us took another run on high rustler and beared right to some hidden cliff area that was filled with sweet Utah powder. So much fun in there. Dan, core and myself messed around a little more in the Rustler area, then headed over to the wildcat chair for more bowls and steep chutes. We almost ended up at snowbird at one point until beared right at the last minute to get back to Collins lift. We headed back over to the rustler area and traversed even further out this time and skied some of the steeps there. At 4pm we hit collins one more time and blasted down the groomers for a quick 2k vert. Another open to close day at what may be one of the greatest places in the world. -

Another nice day today. This time at Snowbasin. We started the day off the needles gondola with a fast run from the top down to the strawberry gondola with the other PASRs. We lost those guys so we messed around in the bowls back there for a bit. The snow was a lot different today than yesterday. It was windblown chalk, tough to describe but definitely glad I was on the thinner skis today. We then made our way to the John Paul quad to the Allen Peak tram for a run down mens start, to some steep groomers (grizzly etc.) JFdan switched skis and we went back to the strawberry area in hopes that the snow softened. It did up top but was still kinda stiff down below. We went back over to Allen peak (Mens start) and messed around up there for a while till close. Another open to close session today. Snowbasin is a kick ass mountain with lots of bowls and open faces. One of the resort guides told us that its a combination of Vails back bowls (strawberry section) deer valleys groomers (the middle section) and snowbirds steep terrain (Allen Peak). Whatever its a kick ass place that would be even more so on a powder day. The bathrooms, by the way - baller. Pics to follow from jfDan. -

I Never like to hear shit like that, and it never gets any easier to hear it either.... ++vibes++ for his family and friends... Hope he's getting pow shots upstairs. I got myself a reminder today just how dangerous this sport is... Skiing down powder country and caught a hidden rock which sent me airborne headfirst directly into a big ass boulder. Thank God I was wearing a helmet, and thankfully it did what it was designed to do because today could've easily went a lot worse. Skied away with a headache, a stiff neck, and a little red mark on the dome.... -

Sorry for the late TR. I had attend to some personal issues at the Target here in Layton. Anyway, Skied open to close today. Good skiing with Toast, Justo etc for a bit. Im too tired to write a lot. Plus I believe Phillycore is typing the days events and Dan is posting some pics. Dan and PC were determined to show me where all of the untouched powder was that they skied when I lost them for a bit. It required hiking but was 100% worth it. The hike to stuff was the absolute shit. That and Powder Country (both sides) were unforgettable. I'm off to the hot tub after an epic day 2. Phillycore pass me another PBR. -

Woke up this morning to find out that Snowbird received 8 inches overnight. Stopped at Canyon Sports on the way, picked up lift tix and ended up arriving at Snowbird around 9am. The line for the tram was about 25 minutes long. Got to the top and skied an amazing powder run on Regulator Johnson. From there we skied down to the littlecloud lift and back up to the top. It was perfect timing as they JUST dropped the ropes to Mineral Basin. After skiing the "Path to Paradise" to the bowl, Phillycore screamed "There are no friends on Powder Days...see ya bitches" as he jumped in to fresh untouched powder. Dan and I followed. We spent the next hour and a half or so back there scoping out untouched powder before making our way back to Cirque Traverse. Mineral Basin is exactly the way I envision Heaven. Cirque Traverse took us to Great Scott / Upper Cirque etc. This area was on my hit list and lived up to expectations. Hella steep. After skiing Great Scott and the bowl below we made our way to the bottom for lunch. After lunch we decided to take the tram again since we paid extra for it. At the top we heard a local say that they just dropped the ropes on the "Road to Provo". Again luck was on our side as we made our way over to untouched powder on the Road to Provo down to the Gad Valley. Floating through this area and mineral basin was insane. In Gad Valley Phillycore and I found more untouched in some trees. We ended with with some blues and greens as our legs were f'd up pretty bad. We got back at to the car at 4:15 and skied pretty much open to close. Pics are coming. Next stop Powder Mountain tomorrow. -

Dan and I have made it through the most hectic part of our journey, we're sitting in Phoenix waiting for our connection to SLC in about an hour and some change. Phillycore ease up on the PBRs. You need to pick us up in a few my friend. Can't wait to ski some powder at snowbird tomorrow. -
