I met JFDan just after opening and skied Frost until 10:30 or so. C1er we saw you coming off the East Mt. lift. We also ran into Barb. Conditions were fast in the morning. The wind did have a tendency to blow uphill and slow you down at times though. Floyd's is in all of it's bumped up glory and was so much fun to ski this morning. Bumped up Floyd's Folly = IMO. Challenge glade was also the run of the morning. The snow has definitely firmed up over the past few days but is still easy to edge for the most part. JADIP at Jackson Frost.

So glad the snow gods came through in time for the PASR day at Jack Frost...stoked everyone had a good time. That's a keeper.

Robert2, you're spoiled because you ski mid-week. I don't think there was even half the people there compared to a WMMR day. The one time I went to a WMMR day, the line of traffic was backed up from 940 to the parking lot and I had to park in lot 17 or somehting like that.

I was surprised to see that mine held up fairly well also.

Today was one for the books...so much snow and a good crew. I got to JF just before 8am and got seriously stoked when I saw the Welcome PASR sign. I met JFDan, Phillycore and Serch at the ticket window. We made our way over to the Challenge glade where it was so deep and when I polled at certain points, my poles didn't hit the bottom! We headed over to East and down to the Elevator where we met up with the Blue Crew who were looking for the "escalator" It was really nice to finally meet Toast, Johnny Style, Noxidee and JFBBMom and Barb made me jealous when I asked her about her move to Colorado. It was also nice skiing with with Doug, Jeff and Greg again and of course the JF crew...JFSkiDan, Phillycore Serch and C1er. I wanted to venture into some previously uncharted territory (for me anyway) east of Risk It. If there was ever a time to do it...this was the day since there was so much snow. Doug and Jeff followed me in but I ended up following them out. It basically became a bushwhacking expedition that took us back out to Floyd's. I don't think I'll be heading in there again unless it's cleared out. There's some legit terrain back there. When Greg, Doug, Jeff and Johnny hit the parking lot. Phillycore, Dan, Serch and I made a few more runs on east. The Mad Tree glade was deep and there was even some float going on when skiing though it. Core and I were determined to huck the cliff on Risk it. I manned up and jumped the left side. I didn't land it but it was really soft. Phillycore took the baller route closer to the trees. We skied the C-Glade with Phillycore and Serch before they headed out and Noxidee joined us just around that time. I was mad that I didn't land the jump on Risk It so we went over and I did it again...and again I didn't land it. After a few more runs with Noxidee and JFDan, I hit the road. The challenge glade had my legs screaming by 1pm. Great day guys...thanks to everyone who came up. It was a memorable day for sure.

We'll be skiing WF on the 10th and 11th...just in case you're there. For anyone who is planning on heading up to WF. Wednesday lift tickets are only $38 if you bring a Coke product to the ticket window. BTW I just saw on their site that they opened Cloudspin . If the weather keeps going the way it is, the slides may be open for the next few weeks in addition to all of glades. I would love to at least attempt the mighty slides. Speaking of the Slides...I found this stoke inducing thread over on ski ADK posted by "frashdog"... http://forums.skiadk.com/about2668.html "They were open for the first time this year, thursday the 25th, yesterday afternoon. Snow pits were dug and filed through out the season by professional certified avalanche ski patrollers. Obviously the favorable pits were dug wednesday. Around 50 people got to "help pack down the snow"during this seasons grand opening celebratory pow celebration, waist deep i might add in some spots, thus making way for the long anticipated opening of the mighty slides. To be aware this land is of no joke... there are rocks lurking below the surface like mines waiting to explode your skis off above several frozen waterfall/cliffs up to 15'+. Even though the highly trained mountain ski patrollers are completely able to navigate a rescue sled over back country/ungroomed conditions among the rocks, trees and cliffs; rescue for an injured person is not as simple as on a " ski trail". Snow plowing, rental skis, small children, pregnant women, if you may be suffering from a heart condition or panic and urinate uncontrollably you should not attempt the slides. To be frank these are badazz double black diamond baby, maybe triple? Those who might know, some one please tell me of a place on the east coast with lift serve (for the most part) with extreme alpine open bowl terrain that even compares to the slides."

I think Dime nailed it. PC you're suffering from post ski trip blues...It's normal. It's like meeting the girl of your dreams for a week then all of a sudden, she disappears. You have no interest in anyone else for a while, but with time...you will.

Slides are OPEN (beacon and shovel required). WF received 36 inches over the past week with plenty more on the way. JFSkiDan and I will be up there in March....can't wait!

I thought the name "Robert's run" was changed to "JADIP Fields"?

Yup...I'll likely be there for opening bell at 8am. What time is everyone meeting and where? The top of exhibition is always a good place. I think that's where everyone met last year.

Instead, it inspired those who know how to ski and snowboard and others who are interested in learning. Plenty of snow equals success for Jack Frost Big Boulder Ski Area. Thanks to last week's Nor'easter, the ski area said everyone had snow on their minds. "When Philadelphia gets natural snow, like on Wednesday, that means success for us. That's our market, Philadelphia and the vicinity," said Michael Cloeren of Jack Frost Big Boulder Ski Area. We caught up with one Philadelphia native right before she headed down the slopes who said she couldn't wait to dig out and enjoy the powder. "We were dying to get out. We've been home for the last week and a half and we needed to get out and go out in the snow," said Heather Hill. The people at Jack Frost Big Boulder Ski Area said sales have never been better. "Since Friday, Saturday, Sunday and today (Monday), Jack Frost Big Boulder exceeded 30,000 guests. The biggest in history," said Cloeren. "It's the 21st day I have skied this year. Maybe it's the 22nd. I'm not sure," said Robert Spikol. Presidents' Day also meant a day off from school and a good opportunity for parents to introduce skiing and snowboarding to their children. "It's the first time he's on skies and I'm trying to catch every moment," said Chris Wianecki. "Since the Olympics he really wanted to try snowboarding and that's why we came here," said Peggy Pulice. Jack Frost Big Boulder Ski Area expects to be open until the end of March.
