Early in the morning it was perfect. I made a few runs with Phillycore and Smartass through the challenge trees on sweet mad made packed powder. It felt like mid-winter. The snow on the trails were nice and it held up nicely in the rain as well.
-
Today was a perfect opening day at Jack Frost. Snow was excellent, weather was great, sun was out. The snow guns were firing on T-Bolt and Exhibition both of which look real close to opening. Awesome day.

sorry i couldnt join you. see you at frost tomm.

Looks like we got about 3 or 4 inches of snow, but it's since turned over to rain which has turned it to snow cone. I can't wait to shovel it . Although it's probably not bad for building a base over at the hills since it's easily packed down.

Don't know if any other PASR's were out there but tonight was fun...definitely nice getting back out for the season. The guns were firing on Boulder Park and some of the other trails. The Boulder Park Trail looks real close to being open. There were lots of people out there but the snow up nicely.

I should be there around 6:15 ish

Jack Frost Making Snow
RidgeRacer replied to Heather-Big Boulder's topic in Jack Frost & Big Boulder
Trail report from JFBB.com for opening day at JF... "Opening day for Jack Frost is Saturday, December 12th - 8 am to 4 pm! The snowmakers and groomers are working hard! Mark Daubert tells us this is what JF will open with: *CHALLENGE *DEMATTE'S *ONE PARK w/ FEATURES! *SNOWFLAKE *POWDER PUFF *FROSTY *SKI SCHOOL 4 chairlifts will be operating! See you there!!!" Since Challenge is open, I'm thinking the glade should be skiable as well. -
thanks...never seen that site before. I'll be sure to check it out.
-
That's what I'm hoping for.

I couldn't make it over today. For those who were there, how was it? I'm def. heading over tomorrow night.

You guys rock -
I think it's finally here folks. It looks like they may be able to run the guns day and night through the weekend. If this forecast (from weather.com) holds, JF and BB should have most if not all terrain (including the Elevator) open by Christmas ... Today - Dec 4 43° 28° Sat - Dec 5 33° 22° Sun - Dec 6 36° 22° Mon - Dec 7 40° 27° Tue - Dec 8 39° 25° Wed - Dec 9 34° 28° Thu - Dec 10 31° 22° Fri - Dec 11 34° 25° Sat - Dec 12 36° 26° Sun - Dec 13 34° 26°

I think jack Frost opening on 12-12 is actually earlier than last year so that's decent news. The rain was nasty last night and now I just walked outside this morning and it feels like spring

from JFBB.com... 12.01.09 December got off to a snowy start. At 1am this morning Big Boulder Ski Area, who pioneered snowmaking over 50 years ago, did it again. The veteran snowcrew laid down a solid base of manmade snow. Expect JFBB to make snow every second we can. Stay tuned for a Big Boulder Opening Day announcement soon! Keep checking back for up to minute information on our Opening Day

We've been spoiled the past two seasons. This year's start is a reality check I guess. -

With the next 2 nights of forecasted lows in the mid 20's, I'm going out on a limb and predicting that more than one Pennsylvania ski area will finally see some snowmaking tonight. -
It's gotta be hard to get off that thing after you land on it with your gear on.

I'm still holding out hope for next weekend. -
Check ebay. You should be able to find a ton of stuff under $300. Here's new pair of K2 Burnin Luv's (advanced ski though) with bindings for $249 shipped. Decent women's skis can be had cheap. http://cgi.ebay.com/K2-BURNIN-LUV-11-0-Womens-Skis-160-w-Bindings-LOVE-NEW_W0QQitemZ130346836231QQcmdZViewItemQQptZSkiing?hash=item1e5946e107

Weather.com seems to have revised their lows downward for this week, although still not optimal snowmaking temps it's better than what we've been seeing. Today Nov 28 - 42 -
They need to do something about that trail map.

I hear ya...They are spot on. That's what the was for. They're forecast doesn't look much better.
