Last night was definitely fun. Visibility was a big issue for me though with the guns. Definitely not complaining, still a great time. I got there around 4:30 took about 3 or 4 runs then ran into Jordan on the lift, who it was great to meet and ski with. After about 2 hours or so I hit the road. The snow is really nice. There's definitely plenty of good coverage and base....no need for the beaters. The only rocks I noticed were to skiers far right on Snowdrift, which really isn't officially open yet.....The worst part of last night though, finding out projected opening for JF is 12-13!!!

Definitely not a bad Day1 of the season. The snow was good. Had a few runs to choose from. I'll take it.
-
Jack Frost....Whats that?
-
Sounds much better for Saturday...I'm definitely going around 4ish

It may be tough to repeat a Nov 10th opening like last year. I still think by T Giving there will be skiing at JFBB. BTW I'm waiting to see their trail maps uploaded to the site. The trail maps say coming soon which lead me to believe they're adding stuff (new marked glades at Frost?, new park at BB?)
-
Dude if ever I see you at JF remind me to buy you a beer or something. You're an inspiration. I'm a few few minutes from JFBB. There's about 4 inches of HEAVY snow out there now. And still falling. All area schools are closed today. I don't think anyone expected this. I'll have to snap a few pics.
-
uhhh...don't know about that.
-
Is there still a Jack Frost? Looking at that site you wouldn't think so. I know it's still in the works and all but it's essentially a Big Boulder site anyway.

Any interest in a PASR Gathering out west in 08/09??

Big Boulder Closeing this weekend

How was it Sat / Sun? I was too busy to think this weekend let alone go skiing...my season is done. -
A small lodge / sundeck at the bottom isn't a bad idea actually. Regarding the Pole Cats, if they were pulling them from River Shot to send to Mt Snow, I'd feel the same way but I really don't care what they do with tubing.

Wow, you're persistant. I don't think he's lying about his status at JF; and I don't think it's strange behavior at all to not want to post your name on an internet message board...regardless of his position. He did state that if you want more info to send him a PM. I just hope now that he won't be hesitatnt to provide us with inside info here in the future without fear of coming under questioning.

I wanted to head back there this winter but there never seemed to be enough snow.
-
The East mt lift is the least busy of all the lifts there. I don't think a HSQ will affect snow quality too much...Again other mountains with not much more vert have them. Of course I may just be a bit selfish since I ski there mid week mostly I know about the one huck just right of Risk it...Thats easy to see. Past that there are all of those bushes and stuff. I never ventured through there. Is there anything behind those bushes? Dude I need your tour of JF.
-
Doesn't that area take you down to the river or is there a path back to River Shot?
-
The one park trees are already perfectly spaced out up top. It does get tight towards the bottom and there are usually hoses there so I normally jump onto exhibition...Any chance the wood chipper will see the Elevator? Keep us posted with updates Fluffy...I'm getting excited for JF next season already.
-
Why does he have to post his name here? He wants to remain incognito there's nothing wrong with that.
-
Where on the mountain will you be bringing your wood chipper?
-
Awesome news with the glade clearing...that's why I'll be keeping my pass there. But IDK I just think high speed lifts should be the norm nowadays. I don't like comparing JF to other mts but Camelback's Sullivan lift is about 600 vert. (like East), is right there when you walk in (as opposed to being secluded like the East mt. lift) and they don't seem to have a problem. If anything their problem is the lift lines on busy weekends. It won't affect my decision to purchase a pass at JF but it would be nice to have.
-
Don't know for sure but I know I would like to see the the East Mt lift replaced with a HSQ, The double is ridiculously slow. Expanding past Floyd's like Jordan said would be really nice. I wouldn't mind having a few more Floyd like trails (or better) to choose from. Oh and thin out the branches / sticker bushes from the elevator to make it skiable from the top....pretty much all I got. Oh and a carpet converyor belt from the bottom of Sno Chute to the lodge would be sweet...That cross country trek can be quite a work out

It would be cool if the local hills started laying down this stuff for summer turns. That would excite me more than Xanadu.

Just back from a really fun time at Big Boulder and probably my last day of the season in PA. I got there a little after 4 and skied until just about 6. There was maybe 200 people there. Snow was typical ungroomed spring mashed potatoes, pretty fast for the most part. I did laps on Draufganer (sp?), one run on Mittl-weg and one on Bunny Schuss. Draufganer was lots of fun and empty as mostly everyone was on Bunny's Elbow and Boulder Park...Still good coverage on what was open. I can't say too much about the parks other than there were a few rails and jumps on Bunny Schuss and Boulder Park still had big jumps and a staircase at the bottom along with a jib that I think is a propane tank. The lady behind the counter told me that they plan on being open next weekend.
-
I'll be there one of the 2 days later in the day though.
-
Isn't it pretty much cut already?? Besides they had it on the trail map this year too.
-
They're open and it's April plus I'm not paying for it.....definitely no bashing here. I would look for you but I'm out for Thursday and I know Friday they're talking about rain....I think I've skied my last midweek day in PA for the season.
