  1. I figured some people may be wondering what the mt looked like after all of the rain.
  2. Weren't they like $100 for a pair. I remember pleading with my Parents to get me a pair of z cavs. Oh and V was awesome...but when I think of 80's TV shows that I watched it's gotta be the original Transformers cartoons.
  3. Hey everyone, Just back from my first day at JF since last Tuesday and since about 5 inches of rain fell on the mt. so I really had no idea what to expect today. I pulled up to a busier than expected parking lot. It wasn't busy by any stretch but I've seen less people midweek. They were actually running all lifts including the Absract which was surprising. I hit the snow around 11:45 and found a mixture or cord, ice, suger and even some packed powder in spots. It was nice becuase it was fast. I made my first run on Thunderbolt and actually got a little unexpected air due to my speed and the flat light as I didn't see the headwall, not that it wasn't fun. I headed over to the East mt lift to find that Floyd's was open. The upper right hand portion was closed but the trail itself was if fairly decent shape. I lapped that and River Shot a number of times. The elevator still had a lot of snow on it but I didn't attempt it as it was frozen solid. There is still some snow in the trees to the right of Challenge and some in T Bolt Glade. It was all solid ice though. It doesn't look like they made any snow and I doubt they will. There is still a good base for the most part and who knows maybe they don't feel like they have to. I personlly didn't see one bare spot, but I wasn't west of Thunderbolt either so I can't speak for the other side of the mt. Here are a few pics from the day.... Floyds was open River Shot with the Lehigh River in the distance Thunderbolt from the "Gateway to East Mt."
  4. Seriously...Fire up the big guns one last time.
  5. Thanks for the TR Philly now I know what to expect tomm morning. I can't belive they said March 22nd...that's depressing...oh well I'll be looking to hit up some other mts at the end of this month then.
  6. Simply beautiful...wow!
  7. Miguel I don't think Method's intent was to to slam snowboarders, since he is one himself (as his avatar and user name suggests). I apprieciate your passion for snowboarding; that being said...I'd really hate to see my TR turn into a frivolous argument that has been beaten to death a million times on a million message boards. Like you said...the argument is so old and lame...and I agree so why start it?
  8. lol....that's because I'm not taking pictures of "Frosty" and "Powderpuff"
  9. Seriously man...glad to hear you're ok. I can't even imagine how crazy that park must have been that day. I would think a park pass on busy days at the very least would be a smart idea.
  10. Didn't they have those flowery designs too? I think I had jams.
  11. steady rain at a ski area....not fun skiing in wet, soggy clothes....definitely not fun having the entire mountain to yourself on fast, wet snow PRICELESS! Just back from a suprisingly nice outing at JF. I got to the lot maybe a bit before 11. The rain went from a spritz when I left my house 15 minutes earlier to a somewhat steady rainfall when I got to the mt. It was pretty much off and on (mostly on) the entire time. Obviously the place was empty as I may have seen 7 or 8 different people all day. I got my ticket and made my first run of the day down one park, which there was not one person on. The snow was a groomed, wet granular surface. It was soft but it was fast which was nice. After One I hit Thunderbolt. Here I noticed some thin / icy patches starting to surface. You could easily slide out if you turned on them at speed so I had to be careful. After Thunderbolt I beared right past Challenege to East Mt. which is where I remained for the rest of the day since the Abstract lift was closed. River Shot was nice for high speed turns and Floyds had me bust out in laughter the couple of times I skied it due to how fast it was. I stayed on skiers left to avoid the ice and was making shorter turns than normal but was still able to get speed. I also hopped off the last headwall off of River Shot into the gully a few times which is still very skiable and still has plenty of snow. I did make a run on the upper portion of the Challenge glade which is a bit sticky and you have to turn closer to the trees to avoid bare spots and rock. I popped out and finished the run on the trail because it looked like it was taking a beating. Over all a pretty awesome day today...I'm glad I went as I usually don't ski in the rain. I did cut it short after about 1 1/2 hours becuase I was drenched a thick fog started to roll and the rain started to come a bit harder.
  12. I'm drinking my coffee now and should be out there in about 1/2 hour or so. I don't know how long I'll be there. Look for the TR later on.
  13. Yeah East is kinda boring if you stay on the trail...The fun is venturing off it. Thanks Ski ... I tried to avoid getting that darn blue barrel in these shots. Yeah believe it or not. I mean you could bomb it down there but I personally wouldn't do it. That may be dangerous as snowsnakes are everwhere
  14. Hey all, Just back from a sweet outing at JF. I got there around 9:45 or so to beautiful blue skies and bright sunshine and fairly empty parking lot. It was a bit chilly so I wore the jacket but that changed as the day wore on so I ended up regretting the jacket. I made my first run down Thunderbolt...The snow was groomed very nicely yet somewhat slow. (I really couldn't get any speed anywhere today.) From there I, of course, made my way over to East. The east mt lift was pretty busy for a Monday in March. I think there was a fairly large youth or school group there today. I hit the usuals like river shot and Floyds. There is still lots of snow in the trees although it's pretty sticky, yet still skiable. I ventured over to Risk It but I really couldn't find a skiable line so I headed out to Floyds which was, once again, icy and probably the only trail that didn't have a wet sticky surface. Although it does look like they're letting it bump up once again which will be nice once spring corn harvest arrives. I did hit the upper portion of Challenge / Challenge Glade then to exhibition..which again was a bit slow but really fun. Back to East to ski River Shot and into the gully on the final headwall to skiers right which was LOTS of fun. There is plenty of snow to plow down there...There are even moguls forming in it...I must have done this 6 to 8 times before calling it a day. Overall an awesome spring day at JF...Of course, due to the nice weather, I broke out the camera phone so enjoy the photos below. Last river shot headwall on the run out towards the lift Lot's of fun skiing off the side of river shot today which is fairly steep and requires hop turns or bombing it Lift view of East mt and the Lehigh River
  15. The one day I plan on being at Frost early and you're going elsewhere?
  16. Just reading this....very nice TR...I really want to get up there.
  17. Ok now you know that's asking too much
  18. Wow...even more people...I may have to sit that one out.
  19. Nice TR's guys...I'll just echo everyone else by saying it was the crazy busy. I saw the jam going down to 940 and I couldn't believe my eyes. Good for JFBB. I'm sure they made a killing even at 9.33 a ticket.
  20. I'm in sales / customer service
  21. I really don't have a TR for today... I was there a grand total of 30 minutes...I took 4 runs and left because it was so crowded. I got there around 11 and there was a traffic jam on the access road just to get to the parking area. I couldn't get there any earlier (because I know that's coming ) I parked in lot 11...which is near Snow Ridge Village. It took me about 15 minutes just to walk from my car to the snow. When I finally started to ski it was just way too crowded for me. The snow was very icy in the middle of the trails. This may be the busiest I ever saw a local ski area. On the way down the access road the traffic jam was nearly all the way down to the traffic light on 940
  22. Not sure yet...the wife has to work which means I'm on baby sitting detail. If that changes I may be there.
  23. I work late afternoons
