  1. Okay April 1st is next week.
  2. sorry Atomic I didn't see your reply
  3. They always go well into May and some years into June
  4. Is it even possible to go straight down?
  5. It is hella steep!! Reminded me of world cup at Stratton. But WL is probably longer and harder because of the ice
  6. All of this White lighting talk made me want to see for myself. I must say I severely underestimated WL. I wasn't expecting that type pitch. My first run was Cannonball and when I looked up from the quad I was surprised at the steepness of the thing. The left side of WL was icy and impossible to edge ( I learned this the hard way) but I figured lightning out by my third run on it and skied it successfully every time for the rest of the night. (stay where the powder stashes and bumps are). The top part of the mountian didnt really interest me. Boomer is a nice run too. Lots of ice and hard pack. The snow wasn't the best especially on the steeps. Beginners (if there are any here) read the signs and do not try White Lightning if you aren't an advanced to expert skier / boarder!
  7. I'm thinking about being at Montage tomorrow night.
  8. I like Blue. They have some good terrain and nice trails (switcback, razors, challange). Great service too. But I've always wondered a few things. Why is Tut's lane an intermediate trail? Why are razors and challenge ranked double black. They aren't any tougher than Susquehanna, Slalom, or Tunkhannok at Elk. In fact the latter might be tougher. Why is there so much garbage under the lifts? (especially the quad). It's really an eyesore and no one seems to care. Oh and what's with the Funnel cake and Hot Dog stands at the Valley lodge area. Just wondering thats all.
  9. It's going to be this Wednesday. But after Mapquesting I think I'll just stick to Elk. I don't know that another 2 hrs each way is worth the 600 extra feet of vertical. I'll probably have everything to myself.
  10. I'm such a Jack**S. It was Cannonball probably. I've been to Blue a bunch of times the past few seasons that I probably got my names mixed up. As far as the picture under my name, it's a shot of the Lehigh Gorge I took when I was biking one day. I love the Gorge, probably one of the best State Parks in PA.

    Elk or Hunter

Is it worth the extra hour and a half drive to Hunter for a day trip sometime next week. I know Elk but I've never been to Hunter. Your thoughts?
  12. Wow, their first dimond was Slalom? Impressive. Even advanced skiers enjoy Slalom. I remember my first diamond - Challenge at Montage (I'm 99 percent sure it was challenge). Anyway I was 12 and I got so scared ( mostly because if the moguls) that I faked a leg injury so the ski patrol would get me the heck off of it! That was a long time ago.
  13. Most of the tough stuff at Elk too
  14. wow, I always wondered what that place looked like. Nice views.
  15. Its a shame White lightning isn't a top to bottom run. What's the length on it and is it steeper than Iriquois, Slalom, or Susquehanna at Elk?
  16. Yeah the roads are definitely not the best in heavy snow. I advise not driving there in a storm unless you have a 4 wheel drive. Otherwise definitely worth an hour and a half drive.
