I just saw on the weather channel that northern AZ is only at 9% of its average snowfall this time of year. With that said…they’re reporting 5 since Monday. It definitely snowed some overnight in town. Can’t tell because it’s dark out still but the mountain is reporting an inch. It could snow on and off today. I’m anticipating some nice western groomers on lower bowl, and upper ridge. Perhaps some playful stuff here and there but most likely not much more but we’ll see when I get there in a few. @AirheadD8 who’s the creepy guy with the hat?

Ahh ok. I'm in A -
So I'm not 100% sure how this would go. Every time I ski snowbowl its snowed, however the southwest has been experiencing one of the worst droughts in recent memory. Snowbowl, especially, has been dry as a bone really since November. Things have been bleak and I've been contemplating a @Johnny Law style plan b, which is to drive wherever the road takes me until I find actual snow, snow that the good lord placed upon a mountain top for winter sports enthusiasts like me to bask in. Then yesterday, as if it were a scene from "its a wonderful life", it happened.. 4 yesterday and some reports are saying up to a foot could fall this week. Just like that the excitement levels jumped 100 fold and it looks like I'll be parking it in Flagstaff and staying there. Yes no upper bowl and most likely limited if any 🌲 or off piste. I'll be lucky if the gondi line is open. But it's gonna snow, and snow it shall so hoping these next couple of days are filled with ear to ear smiles at the most bad ass ski resort this side of the grand canyon!

RidgeRacer replied to GrilledSteezeSandwich's topic in Blue Mountain
I’m out all weekend sadly. at Penn state for a volleyball tournament starting tomorrow night. -
I'm finally getting a new zipper. But they only have black in waterproof. I hope it doesn't look weird.

Excellent day. Not much else to add from what @GrilledSteezeSandwichsaid. I liked the ungroomed switch, ungroomed side not as much but still fun. Conditions were excellent throughout. Even finished the day off with a run through blue baumer. The sun was a god send today because it was dang cold

Yeah. The red plastic thing. I had two that magically disappeared . I didn’t think to shove anything in there.

Just got in. Shoveled because I’m a jackass and lost the snowblower key. Thank God it wasn’t wet heavy slop.
-
How heavy is it. I’m waiting it out

Blizzard conditions indeed

1/19…Sunday before the storm..pretty decent

Those first sidewinder runs were perfection. So good that everything after that was a bit of a let down. Don't get me wrong it was good all things considered but those first runs are why you get in line at 740 am. Fun quick session for me. It's coming down hard outside. Tomorrow will be a good one -
The timing if it makes me nervous. Based on the forecast, We won't get it in the AM tomorrow. It'll start after skiing tomorrow and be over by midnight tomorrow night so it'll get groomed in for Monday. Monday will be good no doubt but I think we can leave our floatation devices at home unfortunately. Tomorrow night could be prime.

Really nice views of the surrounding hills

I skied there once in the pouring rain. Reminded me of big boulder but with a nice hotel and lodge. It’s good if you’re close I guess.

Just got back. Everything was good. I’m giving it a 9.7. The inch or two of fairy dust that fell from the sky made things pretty consistent throughout. Mostly chalky with a ton of grip. Not the fastest snow in the world but it didn’t matter. Even did a run through sleepy hollow for stoke. I’m assuming school groups canceled so the crowds were minimal with maybe 3 or 4 buses total. I thought it may be good when I left and saw how sketch the roads were. Took me and 15 minutes or so longer than normal keeping it in third pretty much the whole way. Our school just announced a 2 hour delay tomorrow. Fun night for sure. Ski you all on Sunday.

I’ll be in Lancaster for a volleyball tournament on Saturday. So looking like Sunday and Monday for me.

First time I’ve ever heard of a resort removing trails. What’s the reason for that?
