My in-laws have a plave in NY htat we skied from (they since moved to VT for winter), to get to Belleayre from their place was about the same to get to Hunter. Belleayre was fine and better than most Pocono areas but compared to Hunter, it lacks terrain and uphill capacity.
-
Make sure you plan on eating there, Hunter has some of the best food. Get the apple struedle, yumm yumm.
-
If you ski Hunter smart it's not bad, infact its very good. If you are skiing weekends, ski the quad early then go to the backside (Claires Way) from 10-1, then to the triple then back to the Quad bout 2:00. Skiing there midweek, you can ski all over w/o any crowds and some great skiing in.

I was refered over to the Ski Bum by a few members here. They didn't have what I wanted in stock so Duane ordered for me. Looks like he wants to keep PASR members happy by the price he gave me. Duane is a good guy and give him an oportunity to get what you need, you might be plesantly suprised, I know I was.

I skied Belleayre twice, it reminds me of a big(er) Montage. No desire to go back. I am sure I will get slammed for that comment too .
-
And Hunter will open sooner with more trails.
-
Nestors, Langhorne or D&Q would be the only ones I trust in the Philly area.
-
Bellayre might be closer, but for early season, nothing in that area beats Hunter.
-
Hunter should be. If not Mt. Snow then Okemo then Killington as you move up VT. Hunter will be Belt Pahkway and Hellgate.

The Flexons are basicly non existant as a new model. The Krypton is a spiritual successor to the Flexon. If you do a search over at Epic on "Krypton" you will see a ton of reviews and opinions.
-
Between what two? Are you asking me?
-
Last years ski, used about 12 days by my son. with bindings $200.00 w/o $150.00.
-
I was the first non Dalbello employee/rep to get into Kryptons last year. I have spent 20+ years in Flexons and was president o F.L.o.A (Flexon Lovers of America). If any of you are on Epic, you know my history. The Krypton is a Flexon on steriods. If you were in a Flexon, it will take you all of three turns to adjust. I am also in Thermoflex/Intuition molded liners. Is the krypton "end all of boots"? No. It is what fits YOUR foot. It really doesn't matter what is on the shell as far as the name, its what fits your foot. You see a lower hinge point and also a much better design in the buckle placement and design. It is a much better boot in every aspect compared to the Flexon

I do . I will be up there (worst case) in early December and maybe in November IF they blow enough snow.
-
Nope. There was a ski area down from there that did..began with a "C" I am thinking Corinthia, but I know thats not it. Either way, I don't think they are even operating any more.

And (the late) Stu O'Brien was at Big Boulder.

Serious. Aerials were at Shawnee (on Thundercloud) and IIRC Ballet, when they still did that, was at Big Boulder. I went to the Aerials at Shawnee and I think I still have some pictures somewhere. John Eaves was there. It was a rainy day and it was mid week, a buddy of mine and I got passes to cover it for "The Cardinal Quill" the newspaper of PMHS. Mrs. (Govacer)Tetor got us out of school that day. The Moguls were to be held over the weekend. I recall the weather turning bitter cold and the bumps never really formed well. For a couple of years there was a sign at the top of Margies saying that a "World Cup Mogul Event" was held on it. But, yeah, it happened.
-
I remember when Margies was always bumped up. Also, in 1980 there was a World Cup Mogul Competition on it .

Duane was a big help, good guy. He is gonna order what I need.
-
Gonna warn him that there is a a$$hole coming...watch your back

I will be down there Sat AM, I will be wearing a Mad River Glen T-shirt.
-
I might swing down Sat AM. I have to see if I have anything to sell.

HAHA. I had some Hanson Exibition II's, I went throught the same thing wit the flowpacks. Talk about heavy boots. I bought mine at Mitchell & Ness when they ran the base shop at Camelback. I wnet in to buy Raichle Freestyles, but for some reason I bought the Hansons, even to the dismay of the salesguy. Big mistake. Manufacturers will say publicly that they want "only" specialty shops to sell their gear, but privatly, they are happy htese 'clearing houses' are selling skis by the boatload. Ebay is great for someoen like me who knows what I want and need. I bought a single new 05 Atomic Metron on Ebay for 7.50. I called teh warrenty department at Atomic and got a single from them for 10.00, so for 17.50, I have a pair of Atomic Metrons. Try to do that in a ski shop.
