  1. If the manufacturer could figure a way to remove the middle man of a (costly) shop, they would. One of the reasons behind integrated bindings is a step closer to minimizing the need for shops. Now, just to figure out boot fitting on line. Look at the "clearance houses" that are selling last years gear cheap on Ebay, where do you think they are getting these skis? The manufacturers are tickled pink that they skis are out of their inventories into these resellers.
  2. Do you know what one of the biggest cost is to ski manufacturers is? ski shops that go belly up and never paid off their debt and the manufacturer had to write the loss off. Before you say "thats because of Ebay", sorry this has been going on long before the popularity of Ebay.
  3. With ebay especially, if you don't know what you are buying...you have no business shopping there.
  4. I have only bought one pair of skis in a shop in the past 10 years (my Metrons because I was in VT and I needed some skis), all of my purchases have been either direct from a rep or from Ebay. That includes (about) 20 pair of skis (I buy for friends too), 10-12 pair of boot, I know what fits me and my family) and at least 15 pair of bindings. I have my own jigs so mountins is not an issue and I have a Montana ski tuning machine so we do our own tuning. If I can't find my ski needs on Ebay, I don't need them.
  5. I have no problem going up to Elk..I just really hate Blue, its not so moch the mountain but the attitude and probably the worst snowmaking on the east coast. I would jsut sooner ski Jack Frost where they actually know how to blow snow. But again, if I am going to Frost, I might as well stay in the car another hour and do Elk. I skied Elk last year, the first time in 3 years, and was remnded what a nice mountain it is. Plus, I got to demo Metrons for the first time. Also, there should have been a with my PA comment, soory.
  6. And an even smaller community. I am sure we will make some turns sometime..as long as its not in Pa..especially not Blue.
  7. Including me? :
  8. What is the difference between the Vertech I & II?
  9. One size fits all , 175.00 shipped, if you are local and want to pick them up, less. I really don't know what I was thinking, you would think I could count to 3
  10. I picked up an extra pair after not thinking. If someone needs a pair of the lighter and better 06 Neox's (Silver) either post or IM me.
  11. Make sure the landings aren't flat. Tell Rip and Yuki I said "hey".
  12. I was gonna do the Nestors sale today, but what I needed was dropped off to me today.
  13. I will probably stopping at the Nestors sale on Friday late afternoon. I need to pick up a few things.
  14. Skis were traditionally "sandwich" constructions. in 1990 Salomon (a tru monocoque construction), Elan and Volant came out with "Cap" skis. Cap skis are actually less expensicve to produce that a sandwich (vert sidewall) ski. There are a few manufacturers that still produce sandwich skis for their top end boards.
  15. Are you in the PA shop? I will stop by and say "Hey".
  16. Papa, Are you at Ski Bum? PA or DE?

    New Stuff

I got all new gear, Atomic Metron 11's, Neox 412's and Dalbello Kryptons. I am getting my son some Metron 10's, Neox412's for this year. I haven't been on Atomic's in almost 18 years but these Metrons are awesome. As far as the Kryptons, after 20+ years in Flexons, I finally found a worthy successor that fit my feet.
  19. Yep, Lasik is the way to go.
  20. In King of Prussia, Fat Bastards are 120.00 and Sin's are 135.00. They will be shipping the gear out soon. Take advantage while you can.
  21. I remember when it went in. I didn't know that it was gone?!?
  22. When Wicks was closing some of thier stores in the early 90's I picked up the Marker ones along with the Mohn (wet belt sander). I did some tech work for Salomon a bit later and I got that jig then.
  23. It was either my sophmore or junior year in High School, every time I skied was at night. I had gotten to the point where I liked the lighting at night better than the flat light that we get during the day, either that or it was a very good rationalization
  24. I have to confess a bit. When we got the Montana, I planned on having it at my place, but I didn't have 220 (3 phase) at my place so we moved it over to my in-laws in Downingtown to replace our old Mohn. Since then, they moved to VT so I have it up there, I get up there a couple of times a season to do my tuning, but if I did have it here, I would invite you over. I do have all the mounting tools here though.
  25. For the whole family..there is about 60 pair in the basement waiting to be turned into decorations. We also have a Montana wet belt sander for tuning and I full complement of Marker and Salomon jigs for mounting.
