I didn't figure anyone would go back, and I probably never would go there, but if I had it in my backyard in Delaware, I wouldn't complain lol Its actually pretty far North... Definitely farther north than the rest of the Pokes... But definitely farther South than Elk... Same distance to the state line with the curve in the far Northeast... Anybody know the elevation?

I couldn't find it placed on the map, and the skiing section of their website seems to redirect you to other mountains, but I found this link while looking through some skiing news. If I remember correctly, it is a small mountain built mainly to drive the "family destination" four season resort in Northeast PA. It claims to be a Pocono resort, but I believe it is actually farther Northeast than Elk in the Endless Mountain region. I dont know about its elevation or natural snowfall, and since it only has a 430' vertical, I doubt any of us have been there, but in the middle of summer, it is some type of ski related news. I am guessing that even though the resort wasn't open in 10/11 (it was open in 08/09 and 09/10 after being closed in 07/08), that most of the infrastructure is still there and in fairly good shape. Hopefully they will revive the ski operation (based solely on the fact that I hate to see ski areas close) and it will open this year (although that may be a stretch). Has anyone actually been there? Could it potentially turn a profit again? Do people vacation there? Here is the link: Tanglwood Sold Edit: In another article I found, it "remains unclear whether the new owner will maintain the operation of the ski facility."

I'm sure we will be hitting it When his schedule allows... Hopefully there is some good snow before I go... Some of the other tree sections looked fun, but a little thin... The cliffs was intense... Anybody actually done the ledge drops?

Blue Mt. Nastar ranks near the bottom

Nope... If I were closer to the mountain, I would look into it though... -
You've never been to Platty... Less vert, slower lifts, but some gnarly terrain... To the best of my knowledge, Hunter doesn't have an all natural on map trail called "The Cliffs" which actually has some 4' to 5' ledge drops and a 2' stream you have to jump to get off the trail lol

Time to move back to Montana? I'm sure there are people in need of tombstones there too...

Was anybody able to find Blue's Nastar ranking from past years? I looked for awhile when the thread started, but had no luck... Anybody know a Nastar insider? -
You might have to go to an X5 if you move to CO
-
I was actually going to throw a shout out to you in parentheses, but I figured that if you gave a shit, you would find it anyway lol... Definitely not your kinda place Steeze... Too far for a day trip, slow lifts, and if your going that far, might as well go to Vermont... Maybe one day you'll be adventurous again Your missing out!!!

They Have 75% snowmaking coverage... Are the trails with snowmaking usually covered by Christmas? I'm sure their snowmaking is slow but steady... Hopefully they continue to add snowmaking by year. I wouldn't mind making this an early and late season option. They are definitely farther out than the other catskill ski areas and have a little bit of a micro climate...

Has Plattekill seen a rise in attendance in the past couple years?
-
Bell is definitely closer, and does have some good off map tree runs, but for my money, I'll take less people, no lines, better vert, and more natural any day... I was fortunate enough to try Plattekill this year twice, and I will be back for sure... It's definitely a great mountain I can hit late season or on a day I'm headed to Vermont...

I guess big Tupper is assuming the developer will get all new snowmaking equipment should the resort ever come to fruition?
-
I had heard that Big Tupper never had real powerful snowmaking. I would be surprised if they had that much new looking snowmaking equipment left at this point. Although, I really would like to get to Tupper at least once if they unfortunately have to close again...

I still don't know which ski area!!!
-
Hmm... We are more of PA folk down here... Some Greek Peak regulars, but not many... Which ski area? Did one recently go to NELSAP? Or are these older pipes from a ski area upgrading?
-
That's really good to hear... While I am skeptical of ski areas with water parks, I would rather them have around than have neither... I just hope they put some of the money back into the ski area (CB installed 2 new slides this year, but few new improvements in the ski area)...

Just took a look at Sno Cove's website. I didn't see any improvements listed on the site, but the map looks like they may have added some new attractions. It definitely looks like it is filling out a little bit. If I come up there to visit some friends later this year, maybe I'll come a day early and hit the place up. I wouldn't mind getting smashed and chilling in the water. I am guessing nobody has been up this year since they just opened on the 4th, but if anybody heads up there, I would love to see a TR.

What are trail restrictions etc like in the Blue Mountain area? I don't hear much hoopla about it like in VT, ME, and NH, so I kinda figured there was less? Is the permit process as difficult? Or is it easier because much of the land is privately owned? -

I wasn't saying they weren't making improvements... I like what they've done in some respects (lodge, deck, mini village with increased consumer offering, new trail (although I'd love to see a widened mountain footprint instead of cramming trails in between other trails (although there was a ton of space there)), and glades (though in their current state they are more of a sideshow attraction (they need to be like Pats Peak, NH and have snowmaking in the glades instead of blowover lol), but my point was that they are sacrificing long term member loyalty for the one day user (which I understand makes financial sense). I would rather them be around then not around if that's what these improvements mean, but they seemed to be fine the way they were before Ray passed away. I just hate watching a good mountain slowly having it's soul sucked out... -
Really badass, but a ton of work for such little use. I'm sure Red Bull paid for it, so why not?

Even frisbee golfing is a half ass attempt at them trying to become a year round resort... Shits weak... They don't even need parking attendants. If they want to increase the bottom line, they would scrap that pronto. I only get back to Blue once or twice a season now, and its usually only for a morning session, so it doesn't really bother me, but if I were a local that didn't have any other good close by options, I would be really pissed at the direction the mountain has taken. Its really lost alot of its soul...
