  1. Rummy is a regular, and several of us get up there a couple times a season... Most people love the place... Let us know what you think...
  2. Ross, can't you justify boarding an hour every morning for the snow report? I would think that an accurate firsthand report would be useful to your customers
  3. Welcome back R2!!!
  4. Is it possible to get it backwards so I can put it on the inside of the car facing out?
  5. Wer are definitely getting pounded here in Bethany Beach 5 miles north of OCMD... 12 inches already... Blizzard warning in effect...
  6. Thats why I said I was laughing my ass off... I only use them to see their "expected tracks"... The weather will be the weather and I am sure I will be shoveling lol
  7. I've been tracking it pretty good since I don't feel like shoveling out the complex, and it looks like it will hit the coast more than inland, but who knows how much moisture... I'm hoping only several inches at the most... Ill root for it to hook north into a massive snowstorm for you guys... Accuweather said it looked like it could shadow the same storm as the 93 superstorm... Accuweather makes me laugh my ass off... I don't see that happening lol
  8. I have gone to Elk 15 times or so over the last 10 years, am a self proclaimed Elk groupie, and only once have I not been satisfied with conditions... It was 65 and raining on Saturday and 28 and snowing lightly the next morning... Place was a sheet of ice... Other than that, I would put Elk manmade snow conditions over most of the places I have been, and most definitely over everywhere I've been in PA... If I make it to Blue Knob I'll let you know if that statement will change, but I am damn happy with Elk...
  9. I'll try not to bore you with details, but two of my friends and I decided to go snowsporting at Killington the 20th to the 23rd so that we could be home for Christmas. We needed to help a mutual friend of ours move in to her new apartment on Saturday, so we left from the Villanova area after moving her in around 4 PM. We traveled to one of my friend's grandparent's houses who live in North Bennington, VT, and arrived around 9:30. Since we will be staying at Killington tonight through Wednesday night, we decided to try out something different. There are several mountains on the way north to Killington from North Bennington (Bromley, Magic, and Stratton), and based on price, terrain, and crowds, we decided on Bromley. We arrived at Bromley at 8:35 AM and quickly began to gear up. There were about 120 cars in the secondary lot, and by 8:50 we were on shuttle headed toward the base lodge. We bought our lift tickets for $65 and headed over to the high speed quad. They were making snow on several trails at the base and are hoping to open several more trails before the busy Christmas week. They were making snow on most of the trails to the left of the high speed quad, but not many on the right hand side. Most of the trails on the left are beginner trails while most of the trails on the right were expert trails. I'm not head of mountain ops, but I am assuming that since they market themselves as a family resort, they are trying to open the beginner terrain for the week after Christmas. Here is the first picture I took this morning of us walking toward the high speed quad: I also took this picture first thing looking up the mountain from the base of the quad. There was plenty of manmade snow and excellently groomed corduroy: We were blessed with blue bird skies, and as soon as we got off the lift, I noticed a beautiful sight across the valley. I quickly snapped this picture of Stratton blowing snow on the front face of the mountain: We then headed to the backside of the mountain on the beginner trail Run Around. They had been making snow on it for several days, groomed it out a couple more, and opened it for the first time today. It had some of the best snow of the day and has an excellent pitch and length. It is definitely a bunch of fun with some nice little rollers to air off of. The top half of the mountain was coated in light snow and made the trees look spectacular: After getting to the base, we headed back up the mountain and decided to take the intermediate run right underneath the lift. That run had the most traffic of the day and got scraped off fairly quickly... Especially on the headwall at the top. However, on this run, it was in excellent shape and let you turn on the speed a little bit: On the next lift ride up, we took the time to turn around in the chair to see how many people had come in after us. Around 11 AM, about 2 hours after we arrived, only 20 cars had parked behind us, and we had yet to wait in a liftline. We got to the top and I looked to the left and saw Magic Mountain. They currently have 4 trails on and had snowmaking going all day on the upper portion of the mountain. They are doing their best with their limited infrastructure, and I applaud them. Here is the picture although it is a little farther off than Stratton: Right before lunch we decided to try out Yodeler, which is an intermediate trail, and found some crazy snow whales. I snapped these pictures after lunch, but since I am talking about it now, I'll show them. The whales were pretty close together and the rollers were steep and fairly dangerous if you weren't paying attention and not checking your speed. However, there was fresh manmade on the sides of the trail that were creating some small bumps and made it easy to carve: We stopped for lunch around noon, and after a quick bite of lunch, we headed back to the top of the mountain. We wanted to burn off some of the after lunch lethargy, and we decided to hit Run Around again. The snow was still in great shape, and while I don;t have another picture of the trail, I found this little path and outhouse in the woods. Looks like a great place for some of you guys to stop and discuss safety procedures After several more runs repeating the above, we decided to head down the center of the mountain dow the liftline for one of our last runs. We found this to be fairly scraped off, but we found a side trail we hadn't hit. Heres a view at the end of the day: Overall, it was a great day. I logged 24 runs and we ended up leaving about 3:30. It was nice to try out a new mountain and there were no crowds all day. We waited in a 10 chair liftline once. Other than that, there was no wait at the high speed quad. We arrived at Killington around 4:45, had our room by 5, and were out shopping in Rutland by 6. We will be awake at 8 to get first tracks tomorrow in the AM. I'll holla at you guys again tomorrow...
  10. He doesn't ski with Jeff because he doesn't want to make Jeff self conscious of his skillz... Sounds like quite the park rat lol
  11. Bottom one looks sick... Totally onboard with that...
  12. The hair?
  13. That is fucking pimp... No way around it...
  14. I would love to hear a trip report on Blue Knob... I'm looking at getting there later this season for a day trip or possibly a single night overnight trip... Really interested...
  15. Dont really jib at all... So, in my case, I'm going to guess yes lol
  16. I guess I could do that... Earn my turns... I wonder how brutal sand is on edges etc?
  17. I can't remember if I found it on Nelsap or dcski.com lost ski areas, but there was a ski area that looked pretty decent around Camden... If they could keep snow on it, it probably would be pretty profitable now with all the people and no close ski areas... Snowmaking and lifts... Had it all... Now I think its condos and housing developments
  18. Expecting 2-3 inches here on the lower portions of the Delmarva Peninsula... Now only if I had a place where I could actually use it...
  19. When I was up there this past Saturday I was told that they usually groom it out through Christmas and then let it bump up with it receiving weekly snow... However, this could be an absolute crock of crap and probably changes depending on the whims of the management...
  20. Any updates on how Sno is doing? Conditions? Business?
  21. Lets put it this way... Camelback isn't Blue, but Blue has already resurfaced and expanded... Plus reports of Blue seem to say that the snow is in good shape... My guess is that Camelback is experiencing similar conditions... If your afraid of that, go to Blue... Conditions have been confirmed...
  22. Bump... Noticed that we need some more stickers for new mountains... We need some at Hunter, Loon, and SR... I'm sure there is one at Elk, but I haven't seen it... Hunter needs some on the new Kaaterskill Flyer... Hook us up!!!
  23. They have some terrain in the Basin, and some over at Silver Creek. The basin terrain is in the 1,000 ft range while Silver Creek maxes out at about 800 ft off the top of my head. The majority of the terrain at the Shoe is indeed pretty mellow. Each to his own. I know that for me, what I chose to do would vary greatly on what conditions I want the most. If I wanted max trails, vert, and possible snow, I would take K-Mart/Bush/Stowe... But if I knew it was snowing at Snowshoe and they had received several feet and it were going to continue snowing? Maybe I would go there if I were feeling the powder... Powder is tough to find anywhere sometimes...
  24. If they man up, completely refurbish it, and place it as a high speed, that would be great for traffic and uphill capacity... Still planning that for next year?
  25. I first learned to snowboard 10 years ago at the Shoe, and it holds a special place in my heart... They get some gnarly lake effect and while the average states 180" a year, there have been several recent years they topped 200". The only downfall is that they are much more susceptible to the Gulf Stream movements than we are in the NE... To the best of my knowledge, they repeated the same thing as last year with opening. They were in the process of being dumped on midweek and opening was set for Saturday. Being real snow enthusiasts, they closed the offices on Thursday and Friday and had the office crew man the lifts and tickets sales. dcski.com reported that the General Manager was even checking lift tickets... Thats my kind of mountain. Enjoy the goods Moe... The last time I was there, the Sawmill glades were not, and the high speed lift was still a fixed grip... It may only have 1,500 ft vertical, but the place can get the goods and at times is downright chilly as fuck...
