  1. I’d like to. Not sure how the schedule will work this year. Work is packed and the wife has some ski instructing certifications she would like to work on. Might be using all the time I have to run to VT.
  2. Did they blow on anything else?
  3. What’s everyone think? Friday night opening at 3 PM, or wait until Saturday?
  4. Starting sometime this evening they will have a solid 24-36 hour window. I’d imagine it will be good to go after that. The mix of snow and rain shouldn’t Wed-Friday shouldn’t hurt anything. You’ll all be on snow this weekend if your name isn’t GSS...
  5. Each to their own. I’m not judging. I can understand not wanting to drive 600 miles round trip to Killington to hike the stairway, but this is potentially 2 extra weeks of skiing basically in your backyard... Side note: With your skiing style, I can see why BB wouldn’t be appealing...
  6. I wasn’t even trying to troll him. I loved the dedication. It was a fun little TR. He could still have it in him to do it again...
  7. Are you going to find that little hill you skied years ago and get some fresh turns?
  8. One man’s trash is another man’s treasure. If my only choice was a 200’ vertical lift served mountain, I’d ride it and be thrilled. Would you rather be on the snow or not? It just comes to the love of the sport vs logic. Logically, it’s probably not worth it, but to be able to ski/ride two weeks before everyone else? That’s an amazing option. Killington’s stairway may be a pita, but they just hit their 26th operating day. I’ll hike that any day for an extra month on the snow.
  9. It’s like when I used to think every season was supposed to start in the middle of October...
  10. Hotel lyfe and Uber driver? You be rollin...
  11. Sounds like a game you can skip for opening weekend...
  12. If the temps hold on Wednesday and Thursday, they could have two days with pretty close to around the clock snowmaking. I think they’ve got this...
  13. The snowmaking production we can see in the foreground is what I would have expected on the whole trail. That part seems to be pretty solid for 24 hours...
  14. It is supposed to rain, but I don’t expect them to lose too much. Both rainstorms this week should be cold rains. I still expect them to open this weekend at some point. They’ve always been pretty aggressive.
  15. EdBacon? I expected more production, but the window was small. They shouldn’t lose too much over the next couple days.
  16. I can almost feel the love!!!
  17. You get antsy for bonus skiing? I would only get antsy if it was past the normal timeframe for opening...
  18. Tuesday for Wednesday evening opening, or Friday evening opening?
  19. Little known fact: I’m actually what is called an “early season snowmaking planner specialist”. I’m on retainer with most resorts to come up with an early season snowmaking plan that maximizes their chances of opening as early as possible without blowing a bunch of snow that will likely melt out.
  20. I’m not saying it’s the right move, but if temps don’t look conducive long term, but you still want to try to have something open for Thanksgiving, the Vista Chair offers a decent solution and doesn’t throw a ton of snowmaking $$$ out the window.
  21. That would have been my second career choice. I don’t want anything to do with the hotel and water park side of things. Just the ski resort.
  22. Like everybody else said, why waste the time and money when the place is making money hand over fist without it?
  23. As stated before, the Camelback ideology makes no sense. They blow in the tubing park and on the main mountain, yet they don’t open the main mountain at the same time as the jib park in the tubing park. The snow is there. Why not run a lift? Just like Ray Liotta, if they build it, people will come...
  24. Think they are hedging their bets and just trying to get enough on Vista to open a jib park at the top? I’m sure the masses would still turn out just for a groomed Vista. Is that similar to Freedom at BB?
  25. Between tonight, tomorrow night, Tuesday night, and around the clock Wednesday, Boulder should almost be guaranteed next Friday, even with the niar on Monday night/Tuesday morning. With temps in the low 20’s Tuesday night, and a high of 29 Wednesday, I could see a 3 PM opening Wednesday depending on what they put down the next two days. I wouldn’t even be surprised if they opened with two trails or added the second trail by the weekend, but it depends on if they start building the base now. Blue looks much less likely for an opening on the 17th. Even Root Friday looks iffy with current temperatures... Root, will you head to Bell if Blue isn’t open Root Friday? Hunter is pounding the mountain too, but it will be twice as busy...
