Ride Delaware ?

I could probably do it one or two times a season. Often times it’s not much more expensive on the 2 for 1 than it is for the case of beer... It’s probably more worth it during mid-season.

Blue Knob’s new owners talked about some decent upgrades. I wonder how much it will truly help and how extensive they are. The place probably needs to add some housing or more short term lodging in order to up its game. I love it how it is, but small upgrades probably won’t increase skier traffic.

I’ve only ridden Blue Knob once, but if those photos show the location of the tubing area, it seems like an odd relocation for me. It looks to be in the middle of nowhere. Is it nowhere near the lodge?

It should be interesting to say the least. I only ride Killington early season while the 2 for 1 deal is in effect. They are usually down to the base by then depending on the World Cup’s snow requirements and how much that impedes expansion. The Mouse Trap/Bunny Buster tunnel will affect me the most, so that should be a decent upgrade depending on implementation. The Snowdon triple usually opens long before the Snowdon Quad, which is what they are upgrading to a 6 Pack, so I doubt I’ll use it much this season.

2 months and Killington could be open...

It wouldn’t really effect much, because you still have lighting for night skiing. If Sugarbush was willing to stay open until 9 PM in the winter because it was still light out and the snow was dumping, then yes, I would be all for it. Unfortunately, I don’t think many resorts would actually extend their hours to take advantage.

I don’t care about the sunlight as long as winter is involved...

Doesn’t he have a power washing business on top of being a teacher? I would imagine he will have to power wash a couple more houses to go slope side living...

Lots of people on the trail were saying that PA on the trail was insane. They were holding their packs above their heads chest deep in water trying to cross some streams. Also, the leaves are changing at Plattekill. How they looking up there in the Pokes JFskiDan?

You were mislead. This is the thread where you list your hopes and dreams, then reread after ski season only to realize your dreams have been snuffed out.

You could always forward that business along to Shadows. Could be easy side money. It sounds like retirement at 50 could be doable. Keep maxing that 401k and Roth IRA.

I’m guessing that there’s a decent markup/profit margin on a headstone?

Tombstones come in all shapes, sizes, and materials, but what does a standard tombstone for two cost? Something decent, but not extravagant. Your mid range model let’s say.

Do you guys prepare the bodies too? I was under the impression you only sold tombstones...

Can your office manager run the show if you’re living out west? You must really be investing if you want to retire at 50!

I’ve never seen you ski, but patrolling would do you well, even if it’s at a small mountain. It will get you out on the hill a lot and build camaraderie. If you are going to become an EMT, you should contact Suicide Six’s patrol director and tag along for awhile. I’ve heard they are accommodating. My brother in law basically learned to ski while on patrol there.

I guess people are still dying at a good clip? $3k a month seems pricey...

My best single day ever had to have been at Sugarbush on Valentine’s Day 2014. It was deep and had free refills all day. That whole season was pretty epic. Last year I had my best day where it didn’t continuously snow at Le Massif de Charlevoix. It snowed the night before about 10”, but there was untouched powder all day. Might have been the best woods day I ever had. This year I probably had my best “stretch” of snowboarding ever during winter storm Riley at Sugarbush North. It snowed from Monday at noon to Friday at noon. Weekday powder skiing with free refills all day all week is incredibly hard to beat.

I’d love to get to a lot of these places out west. Business is looking up, so maybe that will be in the cards next year.
