Just get a couple pics for us when you take your breaks. Whichever type of break that may be...

You're old and rusty. You don't know the first thing about chasing the east coast early season nowadays... -

Looks like temps at lower elevations are going to be too warm to make snow today, so I expect those mountains that can benefit from a snowmaking loop on the upper mountain will do so. Just heard that Killington has finally lit up the Great Northern loop that will at least allow people to ski to the NRT. They will probably lose temps on Superstar this morning, but they have plenty of trails on the NRT pod to reroute that capacity to. I wouldn't be surprised if they start the upper mountain loop to Snowdon. Lots of people not happy they won't be t2b this weekend, but with the WC, I think everyone with common sense expected that. -

I'm curious as to who will stay open. Killington runs 7 days a week. SR usually does weekends only the first couple weeks, but they are starting two weeks later than usual. No idea on what Okemo, Mount Snow, Wildcat, and BW will do. Temps are marginal next week for blowing at the base for almost every mountain in VT. Killington is the only one who has the ability to expand up high. Regardless, should be a fun weekend with less crowds due to the amount of resorts open. POC should enjoy Mount Snow. -
My guess is a t2b run with many a couple side trails. GSS, what did they have when you went years ago?
-
Anybody still have a JFBB pass they can use at Mt. Snow?
-
Did you manage to scare her and Dee away in the same week?

I think Mount Snow is a no brainer this weekend if you've made the decision to ski. Unfortunately, if Hunter isn't making snow now, I don't see how they will have temps next week to make that opening happen...

Killington opening to Season Pass holders and Express Card holders tomorrow. Walking to and from the NRT via the Stairway to Heaven. Open to the public Thursday.

I was just up visiting the gf this weekend in NH, and I am obligated to have Thanksgiving at her house, so it looks like opening weekend at Sugarbush on Nov. 18 will be my first days this year.

Well, for those of you with nothing going on this weekend, the cold weather couldn't have been timed better. Looks like Killington, SR, Wildcat, and Mount Snow will all be open. Bretton Woods might also have potential. Wildcat, Mount Snow, and BW don't have uploading/downloading options, so they will be t2b. Killington will be accessible via the Stairway to Heaven since the WC is using all the water and air they would typically use to go t2b. SR will likely have a midweek opening uploading and downloading, but will probably be t2b by Saturday. For those of you in the valley, the 5 hour drive to Mount Snow might be worth it. No real freeze thaw, so conditions will be as good as they can be for early season.

Season Passholder appreciation event December 2nd.

The weather can change quickly, but the long range is trending the wrong direction... -
Looks like solid nighttime snowmaking temps up in Central/Northern VT with a couple round the clock days added in. Killington was probably puckering their buttle, but with the 30 extra towers they added in this year on Superstar, I'm thinking that the course will be pretty close to finished come the end of this weekend. However, it will hurt their early season offering for the public. I can't see t2b skiing there after what they did last year with the same situation, albeit an earlier snowmaking window. I fully expect that SR, BW, and potentially Mount Snow and Wildcat will all be t2b come Saturday AM. SR will probably do a soft opening for locals on Wednesday/Thursday afternoon with t2b on Saturday. They can open Barker pretty quickly nowadays.

Which of the mods is dropping the ban hammer this year?

There are definitely some Platty reports in the other mountain thread from 4-5 years back...

Have you been to Plattekill? You won't be disappointed...

She may be Rajeev's alter ego. Just pops up to praise GSS every once in awhile before disappearing back into obscurity...

One of the best posts I've read in a long while...

Anybody got an over under/pool going for how long it takes GSS to scare/shame away Dee? SallyCat made it, but few others have gone very long...

It's like every state. Some passes are more expensive than others. Most of the big players used to be in the $1,000 plus range. Killington was $1,350, Sugarbush $1,800, and Stowe $2,000. However, with Stowe being bought by Vail, the passes have all dropped. Sugarbush is only $850, as is the Epic Pass. Smaller areas like Bolton Valley and Magic can still be had at $400 ish...

It's definitely a situation where it is theirs until they can't host it and then they will have a reason to go elsewhere. Ultimately, I think the goal for Killington is to successfully host a couple early season events, then hope they get moved later into the season if another slot opens.
