  1. I never go storm chasing even when that's the goal. Maybe this will be the year.
  2. Any pics of the ski resort signs? I'd be interested...
  3. They reopened the bridge on schedule, so I have faith that the powers that be will have the trail open on schedule...
  4. I didn't read it that way. I thought Ski was simply saying that the system is terrible. If you make the sale, regardless of whose "customer" it was, you should get the commission. I think that then translated into him saying that if you are restricted to that system, and feel noble enough to let them have the commission even if they aren't making a sale (which I would also feel inclined to do as long as I were making my nut), that you would have to be there all the time in order to make those sales. Personally, I'm a pretty moral guy. If someone wasn't there and it was their customer, then I would make the sale for them and give them the commission, assuming the same would be done for me. However, if they are going to dick me over, and the managers don't care, then I would proceed to dick them over. Isn't that why our society is where it is now? Because some asshole always has to ruin a good thing?
  5. It's a long time to build a trail. No way to get around that. Pats Peak and Waterville Valley are going to be able to open up entire pods in 1-2 years with a lift included. Id imagine it took them awhile to plan it out so that the addition of the future lift and those trails are seamlessly integrated.
  6. It comes from kinetic energy. My watch collects energy from my walking which gets transmitted to my phone which is then transmitted to the local power plant energy collection station.
  7. I'm sure the new trail will be completed, but you have to wonder if any of the rest of it will be...
  8. Wow that is disturbing...
  9. Must have been that time of the month for me. I was expecting to have a much better season that year than I ended up having...
  10. I want to know when the base area build out will be completed and what it will contain...
  11. Is the water park permanently shelved or is it just on hold until the hotel/condos/partial ownership is done?
  12. That's awesome Rummy. Is that discount because of age, or is Elk actually dropping prices? You own a ski cabin up near Elk? Always thought that was your permanent location. I'm definitely going out west this year, but I also need to make the Eastern Townships a priority. I've already got a buddy lined up for Snowshoe, so maybe I'll make my triumphant return to where it all began for me as well.
  13. Remember when all "hell broke loose," but really it was just GSS being butt hurt? Winter is definitely coming. Woke up early Friday and it was Schfifty five... Had to put the heat on in the cah...
  14. That was before I was "wintering" up north. I was getting real testy all the time and didn't really have the time/money to up and go. I was in the middle of a major development project. Now I can actually make the things I want to happen, happen, if the weather cooperates. No Doug, no October 1. However, I will aim for October 31 if it's available.
  15. Looks like seasonal temps start to return later this week. With any luck, I'll be riding in 6 weeks.
  16. I've always wondered why people continue to negotiate with workers on strike when they bring in replacements. If they strike long enough, the replacements will be trained enough to take the positions permanently.
  17. Just heard something to the effect that NOAA has dropped their probability this season for a La NiƱa to 40%...
  18. And we know that's all I really care about...
  19. I think the standard average is the past 25 years...
  20. I guess I didn't get how an Eastern Township reference turned into an Afroman throwback...
  21. Is that considered to also be an Eastern Township?
  22. I'd also like to make it to the Eastern Townships, but there's always more things I'd like to do than I can actually pull off.
  23. I'll do the typical routine. Ski patrol at the Bush. Post 30 + days at that. Hopefully snag a VT 3 pass on Oct. 1 to hit some other mountains on the relative cheap. Plan to hit K late Oct/early Nov per usual. Also hope to go out west for a week since I missed last year. All of it is weather dependent. Had a down year last year with the weather being so bad. "Only" put in 60 days.
  24. Ive stated this 500 times for you before, but since you like to repeat shit like this, I'll state it again. The rules for patroller comps are incredibly different from mountain to mountain. Some mountains don't comp. Some give discounted "industry" tix. Some comp with just a employee pass from another mountain. Some comp with an NSP card. Some require an NSP card and a letter of recognition from your patrol director. It is always assumed that you bring a case of beer along. Sometimes it is easier than contacting a mountain and their patrol to just pay the fee (I wouldn't pay full price anywhere). I oftentimes don't know when I am going until the day before, so it's tough to get a letter of recognition for that day. Just like anything, you don't want to abuse the system. If you do, you ruin it for yourself and for others.
  25. I had my first "major" injury in 2008 when I had an MCL tear in my right knee from pre Thanksgiving snowboarding at SR. We road tripped up there and there were about 30 trails open pre T-Day. They were making some wet snow and I hit a patch and wiped. My knee twisted, and I flipped over and ate it hard. The next day it snowed 18" at the Loaf and despite not being able to bend my knee, I went anyway. Did some online research and hit the gym hard. I dropped about 20 lbs and strengthened the knee. Still had some minor knee pain, but by the time I went and got an MRI, the knee was basically healed and pain free. In early 2013 while working at SR, I flew into a tree and partially tore my achilles and the ligaments in the outside of my ankle. I was taken off snow for two weeks and put in extensive PT. That ankle was sore for close to a year before the inflammation and pain went away. Last year I partially tore my posterior tibial tendon while in the ocean. I got slammed hard but landed on my feet. Heard a pop. I was put in some extensive PT for that, but the ankle never seemed to fully heal. I still have joint inflammation in the outside, and sporadic swelling/pain/tightness around the tendon when it gets extensive use. It has really flared up since my backpacking trip. I am looking at seeing the doctor after snowboard season if it continues on this way. When I was 25, I also tore both of my quads playing softball. I played a Tuesday/Thursday set in one week, and my quads still had that "day after soreness" on Thursday. I stretched, but it wasn't enough. I hit a ball to the fence, broke out of the batters box, and they both locked up. The left was worse than the right. It bruised down my entire inner thigh for two weeks. Yellow/black/blue. I've never had a non impact bruise before then. I stretched a lot, drank lots of protein, and made sure to do lots of muscle strengthening. I haven't noticed any issues except my quads are always really tight and they sometimes twinge when I do leg lifts.
