  1. I also can't believe I'm saying this, but I agree with this within reason. If I am driving up to VT, I'm more than willing to take the extra hour from Okemo to Killington. Since I have a place at SB, that makes it irrelevant, but I would also drive an extra 40 minutes past Bell to get to Platty. When I'm in the car and driving 8 hours, an extra hour for better skiing and riding is negligible.
  2. Shockingly enough, I look at the Weather Channel forecast. I have followed many sites through the years, and it is usually the one that is most inline with the actual weather. They don't skew one way or the other like accuweather...
  3. I would hardly call myself affluent. I might be able to afford one trip a year out west, but it would make the rest of the year a little tighter. When I take over the business, I'm sure I'll be much better off. It's not like I'm complaining now. I went to Stowe in April and it was pretty awesome. We had freshies and I hit some amazing wood lines. I'm not complaining at all. I've hit Okemo at least 8 days, and I don't need to go back either. I also wouldn't not go back. There's just no point when Jay is closer than Okemo from my place in VT.
  4. POC, you have to remember that GSS is like the ski snob of PASR. For the longest time, you were the biggest idiot on the planet if you didn't go to Stowe or Jackson Hole. I mean, nowhere else is suitable for human recreation. Go where you want in VT. Okemo, Stratton, or Mt. Snow are all a little mellower and would probably be a great stepping stone for your girls skill level. Killington and Sugarbush are a step up in terrain and steepness, while Stowe and Jay offer fairly well rounded offers in terms of terrain, lift infrastructure, and natural snow. None of them are cheap, but they are all worth exploring. Haters gonna hate.
  5. I believe you will be quite wrong. I would be shocked if we didn't see openings at Killington, Stowe, Sugarbush, Okemo, and possibly Jay. Killington will be able to make some snow tomorrow night and possibly Tuesday. They will weather this warmup better than the last. I would be shocked if Killington wasn't t2b at that point. Temps Thanksgiving week are looking promising and nobody will want to download with the type of volume Thanksgiving will bring on limited terrain/lift ops.
  6. Haven't you quoted Bolton as the flattest before?Okemo is great for what it is, but you'll be bored after 2 days...
  7. Haven't you skipped the last couple times?
  8. Switching them all over to Acme's down here...
  9. What if it's Freedom and Boulder Park?
  10. BB by Root Friday? Could POC get his wish?
  11. And that sir will be next week in New England...
  12. Looking good for VT. Maybe the first week of December for PA. Depending on this blob and ridging, mid season could still be chilly. I'm just looking to get on the snow...
  13. The forecast has taken a turn for the much better. Instead of 7 straight days of 50 with a day of 60, we are now looking at every day in the mid 40s with some serious snowmaking opportunities starting in a week. Looking real good...
  14. Love me some Skillz...
  15. You should be able to get some t2b turns by then off of Snowdon...
  16. Forecast has really taken a turn for the better. Looks like things are more moderate this next week with winter weather setting in the week of Thanksgiving. I think you'll see lots of places opening on Root Friday in VT and ME if temps hold.
  17. I still think this is beyond optimistic POC. Still looks marginal for mountains in VT with downloading...
  18. Finally looking like we are going to get some temps to work with in New England the week of Thanksgiving. Hopefully that colder air spreads south quick...
  19. I don't think Root Friday will be the same Friday as usual this year...
  20. This "blob" is really throwing off the long range forecasts. Are these blobs normal?
  21. I'm guessing that I will be driving North on Black Friday, but I may opt to go earlier if Sugarbush opens with downloading. I don't see a point in downloading at Killington when I can do it fo free at the Bush.
  22. Do BB's temps look conducive for that, or are we wishcasting?
  23. The places with a shot at opening for Thanksgiving (if the current forecasts hold), are the ones with downloading. I don't know any outside of Killington, Sunday River, and Sugarbush that can...
  24. I have friends in Denver, so it wouldn't have been solely to ride, but that would have been what booked the plane ticket...
  25. Starting to look more and more promising that temps will drop after this week long warmup. Outside chance of some places opening up for Thanksgiving in VT.
