  1. The Bush is a wanna be Stowe in terms of the resort and $$$, but Waitsfield is much smaller and personable and not super glitzy. Real estate at the Bush is also about half the price of Stowe. When you bringing back the annual spring Stowe trip?
  2. Killington has Pico which is massively underrated and has fewer crowds than Killington proper. Sugarbush is nice, but I spend most of my time over at Mellen to avoid crowds as well. Kinda the same deal as KMart and Pico. Bolton is fun as hell and has a bunch of hidden woods that are really fun. Smuggs is awesome but definitely has some dilapidated infrastructure. The farther north you go, the better the snow, terrain, and mountain size. But your definitely driving way further. My condo at the Bush is 2.5 hours from some of the southern resorts, so you better be prepared to drive.

The lack of crowds is always nice, that's for sure...
  4. Very odd lift out of the base area setup. Definitely not a fan of that. Jackson Gore was fun, but 2 days there is enough for me.

And don't get caught. It's good for what it is, but like most mountains, it has its flaws. We don't have many skiers there on weekends because our main demographic is the Pocono area south, not the Endless mountains north.
  6. Trails are mowed, ready for snow, and the lifts look like they are ready for their annual chair checks. Looking pretty good.
  7. He's ridiculously insensitive and most of the time says the dumbest shit ever, but I mostly enjoy bullshitting with him. No real beef, and his video blog was pure gold. Rack it!!!
  8. No, talking about the active posting...
  9. It was insane. It crossed so many high speed trails. I watched a 5 year old get tackled at 30 plus miles an hour halfway down a black/double black high speed cruiser one of my first trips to K-Mart. I couldn't see if he was still alive. That being said, it was definitely a lifesaver to get back to the base. Even on a snowboard I could appreciate that fact. I believe they covered the entrance with trees and did the same on the crossover trails. I tried to find it last season, but I had no luck.
  10. Great Eastern hasn't been fucked with since they removed the deadliest trail ever, the Snowshed Crossover. Camelback revised their trails a couple years ago, getting rid of the double green/blue rating and going to Blue for Nile etc...
  11. This is TP4... He's back...
  12. I feel like George is the second coming of Rajeev...
  13. I think all us snowboarders should band together and answer every gear question on skis with "Mantras".
  14. It is still there. Changed hands. Renovated the lodge and are working on getting their liquor license back.
  15. One of the best dedicated park trails in PA... Or so I've heard...

He's just trying to start a flame war. That's not really an accurate statement at all. Lots of us like Elk for what it is. It's got good intermediate cruisers, slow lifts, and a long run out. It gets a bad rep for its slogan and the ridiculous drive to the middle of nowhere. It's got solid conditions and solid grooming. But the park is basically non-existent...
  17. And GSS isn't there...
  18. I'm just going off my personal observance. Then again, I ride mainly at mountains that don't put much stock into park, which may be skewing my assumption.
  19. I think nationally the park scene is on the decrease. Very few mountains in the northeast have a mega park anymore, and even fewer are boasting a pipe. Killington, SR, and Loon are the only three that come to mind, but I haven't been to Okemo or Stratton in awhile, and both of them used to be players as well.
  20. I thought we were missing one area. Attitash is definitely a cash cow. Mt. Snow probably is the winner in terms of revenue. I think they had to buy Wildcat with Attitash. Does anyone know the land agreements on any of their properties? Did they buy the land under JFBB? I'm fairly certain Wildcat is a lease, but I'm not sure of the others. Using Wildcat as their early season mountain is probably a pretty smart call. Even if they don't get the skier visits, the temps there are much colder than at Snow or Attitash and the snowmaking efficiency and cost savings for not blowing in as marginal conditions is huge. If they put together a t2b run by the end of next weekend, they will easily have the best run in New England this early in the season.
  21. Mt. Snow and JFBB are probably their only cash cows. Wildcat hardly does any skier visits and really lacks that resort aspect in any way shape or form. It's a day trip area close to SR. It really lives in a shadow. White Mountain National Forest also restricts the development potential. That IPO is strictly for restructured debt. Not a fan with its current assets.
  22. Looking like snow in VT this weekend. Can anyone confirm?
  23. Temps are trending down now about a week from now. I wouldn't be surprised, if the temps hold, if somebody made a late Saturday opening...
  24. Looks like a turn for the better at the end of the 10 day. Lots of people talking about a nice blast of cold air, but no talk of duration. JLaw? Any info?
  25. Next 10 days look pretty terrible up and down the East Coast. Doesn't look like anyone will have October riding this year.
