  1. Most high end boot liners (double check beforehand) can actually be placed in the oven at a low temp and molded yourself. I use the heat of my foot and 100 plus days on the snow to do that myself.
  2. Just saw on Loveland's website that they will officially open for the season on October 17. They've had cooperating temps and have been blowing around the clock, so its not surprising. I expected it to be earlier, but they offer a quality t2b wall to wall 1000' vertical run opening day. It will be nice when we are posting these announcements about eastern resorts.
  3. Old news it was sold. The buyer is new news.
  4. Ah, should have seen that coming. Same thing that Boyne does with Sunday River, Loon, and Sugaloaf. They own the operating rights but not the property itself. The real question is whether or not they still plan to construct the hotel?
  5. Roasted!!!
  6. In the words of the great Andy Samberg, Roasted!!!
  7. Trails look trimmed and ready for snow. Only 6 weeks or so until snowmaking kicks into gear.
  8. I don't think they market them very well either. It's definitely a deal with a good amount of savings if you utilize the tickets, but I wouldn't even know about it if I hadn't seen it here. Ski Vermont sells the 3 and 5 tickets (albeit to top tier eastern resorts), and they sell out within hours. There is hype all year for those. They could do better on these. They are also in a less spread out geographic area. These are spread out all over PA and NY. There's lots of driving to save those $
  9. Hit me up! There's a Shaw's supermarket in Waitsfield for some sweet parking lot pimpin!!!
  10. They haven't made any major changes in 15 + years, and there's only so much you can do to hype the existing mountain. It's tough to get excited.
  11. Is that the new lodge that is complete, or some new addition? Is that currently under construction? A PASR day at Gore would be sweet. I'm in!!! I just can't imagine GSS being there since it isn't Steaux...
  12. Nothing wrong with that. We've said from the beginning that happy feet make for a happy skier.
  13. Didn't realize that much went into it. Snowboard boots are so much easier and cheaper.
  14. For me, half the allure of the spring is the sun and parking lot brews. It's nice to be able to get some runs in, but I go for the whole experience. I think I went to CB my senior year of college on the 7th or 8th of April, which was pretty sweet, even if the snow wasn't.
  15. I am aware of the ASC days, but the new management team operates differently. They have repeatedly stated that their goal isn't to be an early season powerhouse. No point in talking about the past when they say they won't do it again.
  16. The course of action over the past few years has been as follows: -if it isn't cold enough at the base to open t2b, then they will open the Wednesday/Friday of Thanksgiving week with uploading/downloading -if it is cold enough with t2b snowmaking temps, then they will open as early as the weekend before Thanksgiving or the Wed/Fri of T-Day if they need an extra day or two Their stated goal has been to open t2b. If they can't, they will upload/download. Last year they had excellent early season temps and were able to open on the 19th of November t2b for the first time since Win bought the place in 2001. They will try again this year. I have a discount card to Killington, so that will bridge the gap.
  17. Another month and that's all we will be saying. Hopefully it will all be snow in VT. I'll be there waiting for it lol
  18. How many sessions does it take to get your boots fitted?
  19. Ski Season begins on Sunday!!! http://www.aspentimes.com/news/8477117-113/season-ski-basin-tickets
  20. One of those people that thinks a lot. In other news, lift served skiing and snowboarding for the ski season will begin in North America on Sunday. A-Basin is the lucky winner this year. http://www.aspentimes.com/news/8477117-113/season-ski-basin-tickets Loveland, the other early season player has yet to announce an opening. They shouldn't be far behind. Loveland's opening day terrain is approximately twice the vertical of A-Basin's, so it takes them a little longer to cover it.
  21. If I were a philosopher, I would think somewhere in the east will blow snow by the last week in October. There's still plenty of time for the temps to drop.
  22. When did the alpine slide stop operating? It wasn't operating in 01 when I first went, and it had already started falling apart. The concrete is significantly degraded today.
  23. Looks like the pattern is finally starting to change. The temps seem to be approaching seasonal averages at the end of the 10-Day for New England. It doesn't look like it will be cold enough to make snow for an opening, but give it another week, and somebody could be open for business by the end of October.
  24. That's as far as they got I'm assuming?
  25. Did they try to build a village?
