  1. Your best bet may be Belleayre again if they stick to a semi aggressive snowmaking strategy. They don't seem to be projecting the early November opening anymore, but they have been aiming for T-Day the past couple years. Hunter seems to have gone the way of Powdr's Killington. They haven't really pushed the past couple years.
  2. You planning on the Skillz for your Black Friday trip again this year? I'm also starting to hit the gym again today to get the legs rock solid before ski season.
  3. Glad to see my source wasn't flawed. Always good to have corroborating evidence.
  4. I'm interested to see the progress they make. There weren't any guns on at the base, and the temps look rather marginal over the next week. I think it's going to be awhile...
  5. I haven't been able to find any online articles pertaining to the sale, but I had some random firsthand info today that I thought id pass along. I had a meeting for work today, in Delaware, and the person I met with happens to volunteer at Alpine for the ski patrol. He told me that his ski patrol director contacted him recently to let him know that the mountain would open for the season. He said that an out of towner bought the mountain at the auction. Not much more info there, but it seems that he will continue to run it as a ski resort, so that's welcome news.
  6. Is there space for expansion? I don't know the lie of the land very well.
  7. Will they open the first phase before everything is completed, or is the anticipated opening 2016? The slow construction speed is probably their doing and their plan not to disrupt their main revenue stream this winter. It makes sense to do the major road work when the traffic impact is less, and concentrate on the sure work next season. Once the site work is completed, it will be quick and easy to place attractions.
  8. Sometimes that is an option. I already have a discount card to Smuggs for this year, so that will be my change of pace resort for now. Maybe next year will be Stowe. The card discounts at Stowe didn't really add up to much, so that was another reason for Smuggs.
  9. Maybe I ended up picking the right year to switch to Sugarbush after all. It would definitely be cool to see all the VT mountains return to their average snowfall my first year there.
  10. But that means a greater chance of upslope in VT right? BB by Halloween?
  11. And lately they have been getting in the habit of fencing the real young ones in, so you can't even break the rules. Although, one year they had one fence so low it was pretty easy to hop.
  12. Link or it didn't happen... Looks like Loveland will fire up the guns sometime this week. A Basin should follow shortly. Temps still look too warm, but we keep getting closer. Temps are trending on the seasonal averages in the Northeast. I saw the Old Farmer's Almanac, and when you compare it to the other months in the season, it says November is going to be cold and snowy. Just over a month away. Should be riding in 6 weeks tops.
  13. I'm sure they could use one, but I don't need one to make my day there worth it. With the path the owner is on, I don't think we will see a major lift project there in the next 10 years. So, would it be nice? For some people. Is it necessary? No. Will it happen? Doubtful.
  14. According to you, every resort without an HSQ needs one. Elk is fine without it. Elk is an all day affair, not a see how many runs I get in after work affair.
  15. The only place they ever list improvements is on the wall in the lodge beside the ticket entrance. I think they also send out the improvements when they send out season passes? Outside those two options, the easiest route may be to call and ask. I send ranting emails every year about their terrible website and lack of information, but after the second one, they stop responding.
  16. Nice!!! Definitely some color... BB by mid November?
  17. Fall is definitely coming quick... Lots of leaves starting... It's going to be primo in two weeks...
  18. Actually hiking time excluding midstation break was about 1.5 hours... Not a bad haul...
  19. Thanks guys, glad they are appreciated. Last set from the top:
  20. Supposedly the only mid-station with upload, download, and offload ability...
  21. The much talked about single chair lift line... I'll take another pic farther up...
  22. Whitefish Chainsaw Massacre?
  23. Didn't you just get the new car?
