  1. Does it surprise you that Doug is hating on a mountain with marginal snowmaking and slow lifts? Haters gonna hate. They've relied on natural so long, it just takes them a little longer. Chilly up there this morning Moe? So, the winner of the Blow for Show contest is in. Your winner is... Bretton Woods http://brettonwoods.com/activities/photos_and_cams/enlarge/2394
  2. Thanks for being supportive!!!
  3. I'll be up Wed/Thurs, so I'll miss the real cold stuff, but I will be happy with 50's. So stoked that winter is just around the corner.
  4. We will see if the forecast holds through the day, but if they do, I wouldn't be surprised to see Killington blow for show. Forecasted low of 27 not factoring in elevation. It's almost that time of year. In another month everybody up there will be looking for when to light them up.
  5. Fog inversion?
  6. While I wish this were so, it's not possible. Nowhere close to marginal. Thanks for adding a little to the stoke market. I was interested enough to open the thread.
  7. I never know where to look online for actual temps at the mountain since Georgetown is always significantly warmer, but even if you adjust those temps downward a little, there's nothing close to snowmaking temps in the next 10 days. I'm always game for the start of snowmaking, but it's not looking promising.
  8. 8 more days of drinking?
  9. I have a knack for being able to remember really dumb shit... It's a curse and a blessing I guess lol
  10. I'm assuming it had more to do with having young children and commuting than it did purposefully ending his season early. Or maybe he only got out 6 weeks over the course of the season? I would bet now that they have rented a place seasonally, that he will have a much longer season.
  11. I still think back to how lucky you guys were the year they opened on Nov. 9. It could happen again.
  12. No ridiculous 3 feet of hail for you?
  13. I'd take Elk in my back yard and be happy with it... Thrilled even... Back to BC?
  14. I wasn't let down, but I was surprised lol
  15. Agreed, but it is still skiing. Back to BC.
  16. Camelback always has the outside shot of opening earlier than Blue and recently has stayed open up to two weeks longer. A whole season wouldn't make sense, but as an extended season or change of pace pass, $199 is a great deal. #microclimate
  17. Duly noted...
  18. That's a bummer! I never was in a position to take advantage of it, but the discount was pretty significant. Thanks for your work Saurus. It doesn't show the price for the unlimited adult, but for the longer season and bigger mountain, it may be almost as good a buy to go to Blue? I know that doesn't work for everyone, and not everyone wants to see GSS every day, but hey, its food for thought.
  19. Took a hike to the top of Lincoln Peak. Posted it on my blog. For those of you who don't check it regularly (who knows why you wouldn't), Ill post the link again. http://greenmtnsnowboarder.weebly.com/blog.html

  20. Fall and Spring are incredibly inconsistent, a true temperature roller coaster. Who doesnt want to see consistently downward trending temperatures right now? After Wednesday, it looks like we return to long term averages. I'll take it, its September.
  21. And I believe the owners of Boton sold the land of most of the backcountry to a conservation group in recent years.
  22. No problems with Hall's. Everybody that talks about Hall's loves the things. Apparently they are very efficient, easy to swap parts from lift to lift, and still relatively easy to find replacement parts.
  23. I'm always game for trying out new mountains. I usually don't buy the hype. If I bought the hype, I wouldn't go anywhere but Killington opening day, Stowe every once in awhile, Sugarbush on a powder day, Blue any day I'm not selling tombstones, and Jackson Hole once a year. I take in the whole experience and then pass judgment afterward. Considering I like everything about the resort, all the way down to the always ambiguous vibe, I usually find something about most resorts enjoyable. Hell, I thoroughly enjoyed my trip to Big Squaw, and that mountain only boasts 600' vertical on a slow lift with no snowmaking. It was also a 3 hour drive each way out in the middle of nowhere, and thanks to Google Maps, I got lost. I have no doubt that I will enjoy Bolton for what it is when I finally get there.
  24. That lift looks ridiculous. A quad with two by two double chairs? What?
  25. I had Sam Adams Octoberfest and Wolaver's Pumpkin Ale up in VT. Its time to put away summer and prepare for winter. Fall is overrated.
