I'm thinking the on mountain terrain and natural at Sugarbush outweighs the MILFage at Windham... I guess it's all priorities lol
-
Windham could be aptly renamed Cougar Ridge... There are MILFs running all over the place there...

Johnny Law has been everywhere... I have some smaller mountains on the radar this year, but West isn't one of them...

This probably doesn't interest anyone around here, and I would imagine that even fewer of us have ever been there, but I figured I would post this in the lull between summer and fall. Wrote about this on my blog last night, but figured I would pass it along. Earlier this season West Mountain, a 1,010 ft vertical mountain with 3 chairlifts in the shadow of New York's Gore Mountain, declared bankruptcy. Apex capital a private investment and development firm stepped in on August 17, paid off the debt, and expects to be open this year. Its always nice to see a mountain stay alive. I hate seeing any mountain disappear. http://poststar.com/news/local/new-operator-of-west-mountain-has-big-plans-for-ski/article_f0e91742-077b-11e3-bc4b-0019bb2963f4.html

It's something slightly related to the ski season in that it means it's getting closer and the weather is getting cooler. Don't worry, I'm not freaking out about there not being any good snowmaking weather yet. Didn't know you instructed, but I guess most of PCs reports allude to you guys instructing, so I guess that makes sense. I haven't had the best luck in getting up with the patrol director at the Bush to get my volunteer status solidified, so I guess I need to work on that too. Funny you guys closed the windows because it was too chilly. This is the first time we have opened the windows in two months because the low has hovered around 70 and humid each night. It was definitely brisk this morning, and felt great!!! -

Not quite used to seeing reports this early, but saw several pictures from central and north Vermont of select leaves beginning to change. Leaf watchers up there say it's the earliest they've seen in years. -
Alpine Mountain to be Auctioned

Is there a reason it doesn't have a bar? Is it a town ordinance? Too much money? Goes against their niche family market? -

I could see from the pictures that the chairs were old. Looks like they need AT LEAST a coat of paint. The article was a little cryptic, but they made it sound like the resort was relatively solvent, if not profitable some years. It doesn't sound like it is a bankruptcy auction, they are just looking to sell it and get into something different. If that's the case, I see no reason as to why someone won't pick it up. -
Did Musikfest get moved to Southside?

Less than 3 months until K-Mart and SR open!!!

Haven't had a chance to sit down and spend any money in earnest since I had to buy a new bed and fix my brakes earlier this summer, but I have a few things on my list. Last October the family ended up getting a condo at Sugarbush, but due to my employment at Sunday River, I didn't use it at all last ski season, and have only stayed in it a handful of days. However, we have upgraded all the sliding glass doors, bathroom, kitchen, and several appliances (washer/dryer and dishwasher) this season. There will still be plenty of little odds and ends to work on over the next couple off seasons, but Im super excited to get there and use it during ski season.

If any of us won the lottery, I would say lets make that happen. 2 tickets in New Jersey, and 1 in Minnesota. Root is from Jersey right? Any hope? -

I remember my Aunt, Uncle, and cousins going there probably 10 years ago on a weekend and saying it was decently crowded but fun, but honestly, it's surrounded by top tier Pocono mountains that advertise well, and unless something like this happens, I completely forget Alpine even exists... It's nice to know they put up a quality product. I hope this doesn't go the way of Tanglwood... -

10 Day forecast continues to look pretty mellow. Temperatures on the eastern seaboard continue to be several degrees cooler than their historical averages. Weather has been relatively wet. If it keeps this up, we could be looking at another good start to winter. Snowfall didn't kick up until right before Christmas last year, but it was a good snowmaking year up to that point. -
http://m.poconorecord.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20130725/NEWS/307250326&template=wapart Looks like another small mountain is struggling. I think it's 500' vert with minimal steeps and average conditions catering mostly to families, but I could be wrong. I've heard about it mostly in passing, but never even made an attempt to figure out where it is. I'm sure somebody here has been there, but I can't imagine it's been recent. Anybody got anything to say on the place?

It's not that I have low expectations, but the last couple seasons haven't been average... I'll be realistic and then hope it's better than that... -

Found this on SkiMRV: http://weatheradvance.com/home/weather/weatheradvance.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/snowfall-predictions-US.png Not sure who weather advance is, or if they are even remotely reliable, but the forecast looks sweet. I'm just hoping for an average winter. -

Chilly couple nights coming up... -
That just sounds creepy...

Your going to have to make an extra trip out there, cuz I can't see you skipping your annual trip to Jackson in order to hit Whitefish...

Depending on the lift, and it's accompanying space, it's not terribly unheard of to leave cabins on the lift, especially if they have some summer activity that uses them. Weddings? I know Killington built in storage areas for theirs, but Sunday River has a booming mid mountain wedding business and bike park business that uses the cabins, so there is actually no place to place them should they want to take them off the line unless it's on the ground. If your referring to "downhill" as in reverse, then yes, most modern high speed lifts, gondis included, can run in reverse, but I'm sure you knew that. I'm probably missing the point here lol

We weren't going in the water. It was relatively low humidity and there was little sweating. Dry cotton insulates relatively well. I hope I was wearing cotton. Wait, I was wearing cotton.
