It coulda been hit or miss Root. Luckily it didn't really get "scratched off" since there hasn't been much freeze thaw up until today, but with the amount of traffic on it yesterday, and the almost certain increase in skier traffic today, you definitely would have spent more time in the lift line than on the slopes, and conditions would have been scratchy quick. I'm sure some people got in a run or two t2b, but with no more uphill lift service, it had to be a zoo.

The picture quality and quality of the shot are both excellent. Looks like mid winter... Must have been an awesome experience, even if it was a hell of a drive. I used to being a separate camera, but now that the iPhone 4 rocks a 5 mp, and the 4s and 5 rock and 8 mp, it's becoming less and less necessary... It's also quicker to post and more user friendly... Pic came through perfect!!!

I'll try to keep this one a little shorter. After recording my earliest day on record by one day yesterday, I decided to follow it up with another day before I head back south. Although I left Sugarbush earlier than yesterday, my whole schedule was off about 10 minutes from yesterday due to road construction. It was already more crowded with many people taking advantage of turning a 3 day weekend into a 4. Temp was about 31 at the base and snowmaking was on at 9:25. Got to the top where temps were 25. Took a run down Great Northern to the NRT. I was pleasantly surprised to find the lower middle section of GN that ends behind the NRT was open. It's not any spectacular terrain, but it was nice to have a longer cruiser. It was mostly groomed with some snow guns on near the bottom. Those guns were dry. No lift line after the first run, but that would be short lived. Every run after that the line grew until it was about a 10 minute wait and they had to put the lift corrals out about 10:30. They made a singles line which cut the wait to about 3-5 minutes so no complaints. As it was yesterday, Rime was groomed. Reason had been groomed out and made into the typical early season terrain park with 6 rails. Temp was 28 at the base of the NRT and 26 at the K1 after I walked the stairway to heaven. I was there got about 3 hours again, but only logged 12 runs due to the lines. All in all, another fun day. At the bottom, the guns had been turned off, but they were still on Bunny Buster about 200 feet further up. It was in the upper 30's at the base. As small as it is, you have to love the elevation up top. I talked with a snowmaker who was out free riding, and he was surprised that they weren't t2b considering they had been on the connectors for 48 hours. It looks like all the intersections are ready to go, but some of the places in between were thin. The rumor was that they would be t2b on Saturday. However, after checking the report today, they are not. However, you can opt to bushwhack to the bottom instead of downloading if you so choose. That option is only opened up after the morning hours, and wasn't available when I left yesterday. It's a shame they couldn't truly go t2b today. Considering the crowds they had yesterday, they could have really used the extra space and uphill capacity. Here are some pics...

Unfortunately, the foliage up here is shot... There are very few leaves left on the trees... However, there are a bunch of leaves on our porch... I can take some pics for stoke?

Floyd's is very much like a unicorn... Still haven't found it yet... I don't think anyone else had problems with the pics... I post them as I normally would... The stairway is a pain in the ass, but for some pretty decent early season turns, I would say it is an acceptable sacrifice... It is a pretty big workout for you... It's no parking lot pimping, but it's tough work regardless...

I had seen it before, but you don't really get the gist of it until you actually walk it. Only takes 8-10 to walk if your trucking, but you will get gassed by the end of it. If it means me riding earlier in the season, then so be it lol That's why I apologized beforehand... If I had seen them at the time, I would have retaken them...

So, my family and I decided to come up to our condo at Sugarbush this week to do some work on it before the renters come in. I had been at Sunday River for some training before heading over to Sugarbush and hadn't brought my gear. When the weather turned for the better, and several mountains decided to open, I had my parents bring up my snowboarding equipment for me. I finally had the chance to go riding today, and I hopped in the car at 8 for the hour long ride to Killington. I pulled in just before 9, scored my ticket for $39, and was on the K1 for uploading by 9:10. I would say that the first parking lot was full, and there were maybe 300 patrons there. It was 26 degrees at the top and snowmaking was going t2b. There were roughly 5 trails that combined to make up 2 runs off the North Ridge Triple and the Great Northern was a separate run from the K1 to the NRT. Unless you wanted to hike up the Stairway to Heaven to lap it, then it wasn't really skiable. I ended up taking 15 runs total. No trails were listed as groomed, but I was pleasantly surprised to find Rime groomed in its entirety. ROTD was East Fall to Rime. East Fall wasn't groomed and had some nice whales and side snow. Lower East Fall was pretty treacherous. Massive wet whales with huge pits that were marked, but very few safe routes. It will be fine once it is groomed out. Base depths were plenty deep and should hold through the warm up this weekend. The only lift lines were when there was a lift stoppage. Very few empty chairs, but no lines. As I stated before, snowmaking was t2b when I got there, with some snowmaking ongoing on open terrain. The guns on open terrain were getting wet and were shut off by 10:30. Middle Great Northern was closed with snowmaking, and it will link to Mouse Trap and Bunny Buster to make a t2b route off the Snowdon Quad. Rumor has it that they will be t2b on Saturday. It's a little thin at the base, but it should be doable. Here's some pics. Hopefully I can make it back tomorrow. Two pics caught the corner of my glove. My apologies.

Seriously, WTF is with this Weather?

Can you say that again with a sober man's translation? -
Back for the season? I'm hoping to hit up Jay sometime in January or February...

Is that all you ever give your Hoes? -
I didn't realize my new car had one until a year or so after I had it... It's hidden under the arm extension on the center console... Since it only has one "cig" outlet, it was useful for charging a phone and GPS at the same time... Now I just have a GPS app... Now that I have heated seats, they are something I would hate to be without...

Hopefully that will be the last one for awhile... It's tough to see that far in the future, but hopefully the weather will turn just before T-Day!!! -
Electric Outlet?

It sucks, yes... But people raised generations of children without power, and people in some areas of the world will continue to do so... I just hope the ones with serious needs made plans ahead of time, ie going somewhere outside the path of the storm, or getting a generator...

Word on the street is that LBI is going to be closed for at least 3-4 days... They really took the brunt of it... We have some pretty massive flooding down here, but it's receding quickly... Wind damage was minimal from what I've seen... IR Inlet Bridge is closed for another 48 hours due to dune breaches and sand covering the road... Sugar Mountain open tomorrow... I doubt it's t2b, but I would even take a midstation lift ride... Don't know how much snow they got... Some places in WV got upwards of 40" with it still coming down... Snowshoe said they won't open tomorrow, but they have had the guns on and say they may open ahead of schedule... Opening day is scheduled for Dec. 8, so I think they will beat that... Looks like this cold air coming in may allow some NE areas to fire up the guns by the end of the weekend...

http://business.transworld.net/114143/features/hurricane-sandy-shuts-down-trading-generates-epic-surf-snow-conditions/ 6.5 inches at 3 PM, snow guns running, and an estimated 3 feet not including lake effect/upslope... Go get it Moe!!!

Sounds alot like a friend of mine... Did they have a son that went to Lehigh?

We've got nowhere to go... I wouldn't even imagine evacuating... I know the consequences, and if they had a waiver saying "if you don't evacuate, we aren't coming after you," I would sign it... Models still aren't in agreement as to where it will make landfall, but it's not going to make much difference if its right above us or 50 miles either way...
-
Looks like H Hour D Day could be Delaware... But unfortunately, it's a huge storm... It's going to hit hard regardless of where landfall is...

I'm right at the beach in Delaware, and it's looking eerily similar to Irene, although it's taking a weird path this time. Although Irene passed directly over us, it actually did very little damage. I hope this is also the case with Sandy. I don't think you are going to need a generator or shovel for this one. Looks like the air is dipping south along Lake Michigan and enough won't invade far enough East or North for snow. However, if Moe still has the Moetel, it might be worth it to dust it off and head back to WV. Snowshoe might have some good turns to hike for this weekend...

I thought that too, but on the first post outlining the pricing details, there is indeed a 6 pack mentioned...
