Thanks for all the tips - I look forward to keep plugging away Thursday nights! After 30 some odd years skiing it's alot of fun and a great challenge to actually THINK/feel/REACT to the snow/equipment/body differently - I even see a change in my free skiing over the last few weeks!
-
Some Old Fat Alcoholics (SOFA) is wher Bode is headin unless he gets it together soon and RASTA is an offshoot of the Jamaican bobsled program - in other words I really don't have any aspirations other than to go out and ski as fast as I can once or twice a week and could use a few pointers!
-
Ok, I want to tap all you racers brains. Running NASTAR I'm trying to keep it simple...wider stance, stay forward (shins against the tongue of my boots), lay the skis over more and link arc'd turns - that's it! Last week it was interesting that my first run - relaxed basically just scoping out the course - was my fastest of the evening! I have some equipment limitations but really can't do much about that right now - any ideas? I want to build a strong foundation so I can use NASTAR as a stepping stone to RASTA and SOFA!

Jeff was definately dialed in! '99 and Metz fared pretty well also, nice job! Best conditions/set to date and tons o' fun!
-
You got to go by me to get to Jeff! Tonights the night its all gonna come together! Then we can close the gap on Atomic Man!
-
Considering what they did a few weeks ago for the biker-cross it shouldn't be a problem...
-
Sounds like a great event! I've never been to Greek Peak, any mountain reviews or comments, how far from the Lehigh Valley? I'd like to check it out it we we can't get to the Relay...
-
Shaped is definately the way to go, I did check my 13 yr old daughters settings - she is the same size and a conservative int skier and they are shop set at 5 (they are atomic bindings with a range from 3-10) Good Luck!
-
I'm hoping to get up there again around 6-6:30

Did she hava sister in NY named Mulva?

Good time and GOOD TIMES. I know where I'll be Thursday nights, trying close that gap! Definately liking the all mountain experience - from gates to the booters and everything in between! Who went faster?
-
I really do want to see him him do well. Last year and at the beginning of the season he was the greatest thing since sliced bread (or the Mahre Bros any way) and it seems like he (not the media or nike or anyone else) is turning himself into toast quickly...
-
What did he think they were going to do with that tidbit - they're job is to sell commercial spots with "news"? He should of known that going in - he could have spun it any way he wanted ("I f'd up and kids don't try this at home") or just say F it, I ams what I ams, but don't whine about the media now. I think he'd be better off laying low with the media for awhile and let his skiing do the talking..
-
I'll bet he would get some boos (not booze) if he did, then after the game said he might do it again!

Hey skiing and drinking are two of my favorite past times, but they definately don't go well together, especially at his level. I read Bode's book and was a little dissapointed as I did'nt come away with a whole lot of insight. I'm comparing it to Lances book where I was amazed and inspired. I think the the whole nike campaign of bodeist philosophy is more hooey than substance and I liked him alot better last year - I knew less and he skied better! Do we have a smiley for jack@ss?

Sounds like a good day?!?!?

Any news from Tangledupinblueswood? They had a primo day!

Congratultions!!

I needed to work on my turns. Oh yeah... I hear ya! Had a great time any way, something to build on! Great meeting and skiing with you guys, look forward to next time!
-
Anybody else running in the shadows besides the MAIN EVENT? I hope theres someone beside me in the old fat guy division. Any body know if there will be two courses for head to head racing or single against the clock?
-
Atomic did you race NASTAR last year? I was looking at 04-05 results to see if I should bet a light beer or an import and didn't see anything posted?
-
Nah I was thinking about it - it looks soo cool - but last year a pretty good racer landed short on the step-up and cracked a vertebrae - I'm too old to abuse my body like that anymore - just a spectator
-
I'm gonna try to make it up (doubt I'll give you too mcuh competition tho) If any body missed the mens downhill at bormio yesterday on OLN its quite a show with Rhalves win and some nailbiting finishes/DNFs I think they rebroadcast today at 5. Also I know there are a few other mtn bike entusiasts out there - this Saturday at Blue is snowcross - its pretty wild to watch - you can check out the video on blues site

My big issue was ventilation, I need to keep cool as much as i need to be warm. the Giro fuse seemed to have the most vents that can be opened/closed easliy and its really light, also the ear flaps come off easily
