it can work that way and does every once in awhile - i had a gold/14 or something silly hc day a few years back at greek. i had a good run - not quite that good tho it works pretty well most days

the pacesetter concept is that in any given race your racing against the national pacesetter - us ski team member darron rhalves in the past, not sure this year - based on a mathematical formula determined by the local pacesetters performance on the course. If my times give me a 25 handicap it basically means i'm running it 25% slower than the national pacesetter's theoretical time if he were on the same course.

last year was a little frustrating, mike meyers was the pacesetter most nights and must have been bodie'd up or something during the national pacesetting trials then would come out and kill it thusday nights - somewhat skewing the handicaps. add on top of that what i thought were some pretty difficult course sets most nights resulted in higher handicaps for hacks like me one of the fun things for me about racing and nastar is you typically see a real quantitative result/progression as your skiing improves. last season i felt i was skiing better but the result were going the other way. still a good time any way you cut it though

from bode's blog on universal sports... ouch So here's what happened. The top of Levi has these rolls in it. I was going really fast forward into this off-rhythm turn and was focused on absorbing this big bump and being ready for the next gate. It's quick up there. The gate slipped through my hand then got on the inside of my shin-guard. The gate went down on top of my thigh. It sort of wrapped around my thigh then sprang up really hard and whipped me right in the face. So it was a series of things. It can happen but it's really not that common. It's not common to hit the gate right in that position where it can work that way. It hit my nose and lip and cut the bridge of my nose in a couple little spots. I was lucky I had my goggles on because it was a really, really hard hit. It was pretty intense. It almost knocked me out. I couldn't see for a second and slalom is so quick that I was out of the course before I had a chance to do anything. It hurt really bad for about five minutes, then it went numb and felt OK after that. It wasn't that big a deal it just sucks I didn't finish obviously. My face is still sore today but the swelling has gone down a lot. It was just massive and swollen at first.

no need to worry about that - along with us hacks theres a few gamers too. i'd say they might embarass you but i've seen you do a pretty good job of that on your own
