  1. this is not a if you build it they will come thing...these are jumps. Mainline has been getting neglected because of another park being built and and half pipe being built by 1 cat operator. we can only do so much. As soon as the weather gets cold enough to move snow around mainline will be rebuilt.
  2. -In response to clauss...The jumps are not too big. maybe too big for some but not too big for all. I watched a 11 year old boy on skis clear that jump saturday. These jumps are very easy to make. -The small park has been somewhat neglected but only because of having to build another park on spike. -Our park crew is not big, therefore we cant always up date everyday. -Alot of our rails are not in good running condition and this is the reason for some not being put out. -The picinic table was just pulled out last night to be reset as a NORMAl picinc table. -The small park has all the beginner features we have to offer. -As of ppl complaing about the park crew not doing any work i totally disagree. I think maintance wise we have some of the best. Our landings are rarely ass cracked and the same for our lips. Ive ridden alot of places around that have nice features with piss poor maintance. Not everyone is going to be pleased with we have but alot of others love it. Did you not forget that its been 45 degrees outside the last 2 days? Its tough to keep everything running well in this kind of weather. -Also just for your information and not like it is any of your business but this year is not last year when everyone just sat around did abs nothing. If were not out in the park theres a good chance were fixing one of our rails or maybe helping out another dept. Or maybe taking a break. We deserve those every now and then. -For anyone who says the parks in previous years was better than what we have now... well they are out of their minds because right now last year there was piles of snow for a 22ft pipe, a couple turtle back lousy table tops and a few rails stuck in places where there was no flow at all. The park was closed half of the time and mainline was a disaster. -Dave im not trying to call you out in any way but your bitching about something you dont really do. Your not a park rider and your bitching about stuff you don't know anything about. yeah you were on park crew last year because beaker needed guys to work not because you actually have any skill in building anything park wise or coming up with your own designs, hell i read in a post a long time ago that you admitted to copying off of how others ride..you don;t even have your own riding style. your a POSER!...BUT you did work hard which i respect alot but you also had a chance to set rails in and you set them more crooked than ive ever seen in my life. Oh another thing on the jumps...if they were "true" table tops no one would say a thing but because they are "real" jumps that you actually have to make the landing you bitch. These style of jumps are not only better but save a bunch of money in snow making rather than blowing out big true table tops. I don't know if you rode here when it was montage but THERE WAS NO PARK! If this was not sno right now you would be riding shitty fall line rails and boxes shitty jumps all on 1 trail. There would probably be no new lights there would be no new trails and the snowmaking would not be nearly as good. I think anyone who really bitches should take a look back 3 years ago and realize how far this place has come and that were actually pretty lucky. As far as you trying to call out DJ.. well hes in our park like every day and yeah he was throwing some big sevs saturday on our 50...also maybe you should pole all the kids saturday that were tearing these jumps apart..or ask john skalansy what he thinks who threw a double back off that 50 saturday. This is not dave clauss park therefore everything is not going to be set up just how YOU want it. Ride the stuff that you like and the things you dont well maybe muster up some courage and try them. Im sure if you were more capable of riding the features you would not be bitching at all. BTW Where is there a battleship box because i would love to ride it. All in all Im not here to argue or fight..Im just here to answer questions and give updates about the park. But i will defend our park when i think it needs be. Im not scared of criticism and i actually appreciate it. ps stop saying im trying to make this place boulder. You have never even been to boulder because if you did you would actually see these parks are nothing at all like theirs...They have 5 parks. We have 2 as beginner and an advanced. thats it.
  3. course set up flat down or urban down 35' change boot flat, down, or DFD rail rain bow or battleship 50' money boot
  4. bring you tape measure if you don't believe
  5. first jump 35' second jump 50'
  6. No it's not roped off that way although maybe we can do something like that and it might eliminate the gapers or it will just catch their interest more who knows.
  7. Boulder has like a 65'..this jumps not that big. I'd say they have the biggest I've seen. But I'm very happy with this jump. No spike is not roped off. It's open to riding. It's only roped off sometimes during the day if we're doing cat work in the park. But even if it is roped off we always open it by 4:00pm
  8. Spent about 3 1/2 hours dialing the first jumps lip in today. It had a nice tranny now with tons of pop. Some dudes were whaling on it tonight despite the super slow snow. Good things being said about the second jumps also. A couple skiers bombed it from way up and made the knuck by about 8-10 feet. There's potential for some serious tricks to be thrown down on this jump. Tons of time in the air and a deep landing. The only issue is speed. Hopefully when the snows normal and faster you won't have to bomb from way up to make it. If it stays an issue I may just cut it shorter like 5 feet. But I don't want to do that. I'm still coming up with Ideas for the third hit. and possibly a fourth if we can get some more snow. for those reading this who are not really a park rider or if you just a park rider with out any etiquette...PLEASE DO NOT STAND NOR RIDE ACROSS THE LANDINGS OF JUMPS! There was almost a very serious injury tonight. A woman skied across the first landing just a another skier took flight. He had to spread eagle so he didnt put put his skis through the back of her skull. He still clipped her with his shin but she was ok. When riding in the park ALWAYS pay attention to what you are doing. Thanks
  9. MAD PROPS to our Park Cat operator Seth. He's a building machine!

  11. Ok so today at sno we rebuilt some jumps. The "step up" jump is 100% different. Its more of a straight jump now with still a tad of a step up. Its longer with a taller lip. Id say its close to 30' The conditions were slow so you really had to come in hot at it to make it but that happens. With the exception of having a short landing because of being built on a flat grade its still a really good jump! Now for the "jump line" Well its no longer a jump line but only for about a week. We squashed the second jump so it could be moved farther to the bottom which will give alot more time to set up for it...now to the actual jump. The lip stands at about 10' tall with a really nice transition not too poppy to send you back seat but enough to throw you high. Its currently sitting about 40 to 45' to the knuckle. This jump is sick! The landing is alot bigger and longer than it was, you can def take this jump 50 to 60' deep and still have landing left. Hope everyone enjoys and gives some feedback. Ill keep everyone posted with the construction of the second hit. Ill also get exact measurements on the sizes of the jumps. I'm sure im a little off. -sno park
  12. Loki's slopestyle contest sponsored by the ski corner will be held Saturday Feb 7th on spikes terrain park. When I get more info on prizes and times I will post them so keep checking back.
  13. urban style double barrel rail was added to spike at the bottom. set up with a mellow down. long take off...good rail to learn and practice new lip tricks.
  14. I mean that judging the height of the roller before the jump line and the distance between it and the first jump, There is a slim chance to make the knuckle of that jump from starting on top of the roller. The roller is used to pump after hitting the rails before it so you can still make the jump to keep the flow of the park without bypassing a hit. Also I'd like to add that myself and another cut about a foot and a half of the knuckle of the step up. It is def more friendly and you should not have to flat the landing to make it over. Im hopefully going to be able to get our cat operator to add about 10 feet to the second landing in the jump line so its not as bad to over shoot. A "C" rail got added to the top of mainline but the top sheet was broke in 3 spots when i saw it this morning. It will be closed unfortunately until i fix it. Which will hopefully be tomorrow. An up single barrel is now in at the bottom of spike and we set our bigger "A" frame rail today right next to it...Its not open yet but should be tomorrow. I'm going to try to get more features out everyday if possible.
  15. rastasquid, mainline has 6 beginner rails and a small table top a small wedge jump and a medium wedge jump. All of those jumps are beginner jumps also. Im not trying to build rome Im trying to build a park.
  16. Dave i sincerely apologize for repping myself as the park manager. I should have just put my name but i made a stupid mistake. Sorry I don't have a "REAL" job like you! I just like to do what I love.
  17. Im The park manager at sno and I do agree with your thoughts on the first step up jump. Its a trial and error thing and It is a little sketchy so it will be fixed..as for the other 2 jumps the Mound of snow in front of the jumps is used as a speed holder not a start ramp. That being there lets you hit the rails before the jump and still make it instead of bypassing the rails to make the jump. Anyone with any sense would know that you cannot make that jump from the top of that roller. As for the lips they could be a little more poppier but not really that much. They are built pretty high so in all reality it evens itself out being semi mellow. The jumps are kind of close but there is not much room on that head wall to spread them out...Ive been freestyle riding for a decently long time and those jumps are pretty fun and I know alot of ppl who have been hitting them who think the same. They're quick and a little more challenging to setup but just feel them out a bit. Things are slow on the park building but we only have ONE cat driver in the park and he does a pretty good job! There is no more planet snow tools where there was 2 or 3 guys in cats pushing snow around all night. I appologize for not meeting your needs but it is very hard to please everyone. I also appreciate your criticism and hopefully improve the park some more.
  18. oh and btw those 2 new jumps are awesome! Just come into that roller before them with some decent speed, pump it, take a setup check and your golden for the first one then after you land take another speed check or 2 and your fine for the second. Also I see alot of people just going for jumps with out checking how big they are, this is a big reason why alot of people get hurt in parks. If your not familiar with the features or when something new is built roll up to it and check it out before you hit it. Know how the snow is too...some days its quick some days its fast. You have to put all those perspectives in before you go for a big jump...it could determine making it or not. Tonight there should be some small boxes and a small rail being put out on mainlines park. Enjoy.
  19. Clauss your baby and you should go ride elk where they dont care about park..Im trying to bring progressive riding and skiing back to sno mountain. 2 years ago when planet snow tools first came to sno there were so many people constantly riding in the park because our mountain had never seen an actual park before. Bad news is Planet never kept the park progressing and people got sick of hitting lame ass true table tops and the typical set ups for rails. Well that time is over and I'm trying to bring that progressive edge back to sno mountain! Those jumps are not really that big. Have you ever been to any real resorts like bear mountain or mammoth lakes? Their jumps tower these at sno. See the thing is not everyone is a pussy like you and alot of kids want big jumps so they can have the time in the air to throw bigger and cleaner tricks rather than a hucked out 720 over a 20 foot table. Alot of good riders and skiers have left sno mountain because of these reasons and hopefully we'll start getting a good park scene going here where kids can progress off of each other because i know now there is none of that. As for beginner features...Im trying to get some flat boxes back out that were just recently fixed. See 97% off skiers and snowboarders do not realize the abuse rails take esp after being beaten on for 3 years. Top sheets are constantly breaking and its very expensive to fix them. The rail jam set up next to tubing has been removed for the 13 foot pipe. Ill get those rails set back in the ground hopefully next week. Also there will be another jump after the 2 that are on spike Im not too sure which way im going to go with it. Id really like to put a nice hip to quarter set up at the end, we'll see what happens tho. The flat after the jumps will be filled with rails soon it just takes a little time. We don't have a 20 man crew at sno so things may take a tad longer. sincerely, - Sno Mtn Park Mgmt
