  1. Most bike fatalities result from body trauma. Most car fatalities result from head trauma. Wear your bike-belt and put on your car-helmet. Or use your head for more than an apparel rack.
  2. Honey and I took a ride to look at the mt. They seem to be widening and straighting the Susquehanna. Both sides of trail are now parallel, as in "no more hourglass shape". The trees are too thick to see the jct. of Susky and the West slope, so I can't tell if they have moved that snowgun back out of the trail. The tower guns on the Susky will have to be moved or they will be in the trail next year. This should make the slope alittle more skier friendly and alot easier to groom. I'm not sure if this will compound problems with "green circle" beginners sking across "diamond" trails. (Tioga crosses both Tunkhannock and Lacawanna, both diamonds). BTW. Their trail map doesn't accurately depict trail shape or size. I'll see if I can arrange a fly-over, then we'll know more. Remember, it's still early and it's been raining hard almost everyday (here in Pennsyl-tuckey), so, no doubt their work will be delayed. Hope this helps to get you through the summer.
  3. And the tow in the park is new. ALL their stuff is in great condition. I'm just pokin fun at them, they run a pretty nice mt. but, we all have our favorites. I'm still going to ride over and try to see what they're doing on the Susky.

  5. Yep....read the first line in the first post............. nuf said?
  6. They don't have horrible "Public Relations", it is exactly how they chose to operate. They are elusive so as to create a "buzz". Just remember, last years "big" improvements were paveing the lower parking lots (easier to plow) and fixing the roof on the lodge (cuz it leaked). Their idea of an improvement has nothing to do with skiing. Now with that said, I can tell you they are doing some sort of "dirt work" on lower Susq, skiers left. I know it has a bottle neck in the middle of it that makes grooming it a real hassle. Maybe more snow gunz(?). You only assume you are alone in your efforts, because of the lack of response. You're under-estimating their ability to ignore the customer. Many, many customers have tried to help them. They are so conservative, they think stuff like "snowboards" and "rails" and "jumps" are radical thinking. Their niche in the market is for slow rollers, easy, consistant terrain. Don't expect anything too "big". Maybe I can "spy" a little closer and get back to you. And keep in mind, a lot can happen b4 sno flyz. (cross your fingers)
  7. Killington from main lodge to upper lodge. The ride didn't take all that long, but add in the long line and butt nasty conditions.......first impressions are lasting. I moved across mt. and had some sweet skiing. The whole "lift thing" doesn't really bother me, I just gawk or scope out my next pass. It's all good !!!!
  8. Wow, now that's a nice post. Thank You.
  9. I rode a detach once, stood in line 10 min. , had to take all my gear off, climbed in a little box with seven total strangers whom were sneezing, coughing, hacking up flem, blowing their noses, talking to their buddies on the cellphone (all but me, I was holding my breath) with 99% humidity that fogged my glasses and goggles. Windows were totally fogged up, too. At some point I just got feed up with breathing other peoples "sneezes", I almost puked!! Took 22 min. to get up a slope I came down in less than 6 min. So much for speed, I'll never get in one again, Thank You. Now, I'm not hateing on them, but there isn't a hill big enough around here to justify the absolute pain-in-the-ass to ride one. IMO. It's cool some places have that type of bling, but like E-bar said, "Who cares?"
  10. It's interesting to see differing points of view from different regions. I went to VT to ski some "big" mt. stuff and couldn't believe that with all the nice slopes, customers would stand in line to ride the high speed detach up the shortest run through glades skied down to the dirt!! Maybe they didn't want to ride a "slow" lift (going too fast for them to get on?) up to the top of a huge run with perfect untouched snow...... go figure. I don't like any skied-out conditions, including glades, diamonds or lift ramps. At Jack there is HUGE snowmaking capacity, so, when it gets ugly, they fix it. (of course, some wind and temps. help) At the end of the season there were areas of untouched terrain, you can ski anywhere at Jack. I'll add that there is an element of the boarding community who go straight for the rocks at every opportunity. They jump off them, scratch down them, smash into them. Probably not the same as you and I would use our time and equip. If you get bored at Jack it's because you're a boring skier, not from lack of terrain.
  11. That's cuz it's the JF/BB blog....... I think(?) I talked to the "guys" the other night.....we are going to be REEEAL Happy next year!!!! Nuff said.
  12. Let's see..........cleaner, nicer, bigger Glades..........an Elevator...........nicest Employees............convenient.........best Groomers........First 2 open,last 2 close.......ONE PARK............AND.......The Finest Manmade Snow on the Planet !!!!!!! Buying a pass to this place is a "no-brainer"
  13. Maybe we could get Jack to buy their beer. Let's start a thread called "Groomers and Snowmakers Bottomless Mug Program"...........Not sure if it would help with conditions, but it would make them "identifiable". Just kidding, I know all these guys and I'll pass on the Kudos. Everything they do is done for you and the recognition will make their day!!!!! (the beer thing is a good idea, too) From all of them to all of you, THANK YOU!!!!!!
  14. Ya mean like "Poop"?
  15. I'll say "Hello" if I ever see you, the diamonds are where I play. Usually dressed in black and bombin' the steeps. I've looked for you guys, but seems our schedules don't work. I never know when I'll be able to hit it. I'll see you on the Elevator next year, if not sooner!! Hope to be on the slopes a few more times before they close. Keep up the nice work.
  16. Just Another Day In Paradise
  17. Serendipitous........pinch me, I must be dreaming.......beautiful conditions for any month and it's March!!! If you like skiing (or ridin'), be there tomorrow, bring sunglasses.
  18. How does it keep getting better everyday? Do these guys have "magical snow powers" or what? Is it really March?
  19. You gotta check up the Keystone Kops. They're old school silent movie stuff, like Charlie Chaplan. Find some of their shows, you'll understand the reference!!!!
  20. Just got in, it was nice spring conditions. It's supposed to freeze every night this week, so you could expect frozen cord in the AM that will soften as day goes by. Should be super nice.
  21. There was a snowball fight. 3 drunks in the parking lot were asked to leave. (happens with this many people) No state police. (?) You need a new source of info. I was there all day and it was a great time had by all!!!!!!
  22. All I can say is "WOW". Thanks for the warning about CB.
  23. There you go ladies and gentlemen, straight from the "Oval Office". Is this place too cool or what? Can you imagine being treated this good everywhere you do business? If you think this year is great, wait 'til next year!!!!! (get them passes now) I checked, it's 43-45 with one spot I got a 47. Be a good week to call in sick.
