  1. I looked it over and my guess is an honest 45 with a few short spots that are maybe 50. Check it out and see what you think. Looked like 4 maybe 5 possible lines. (anybody have "Carhartts") I was thinking........ with Jack's "Sno on it, Go on it" policy, isn't this thread evidence that the "Elevator" is back!!!!! (We don't need no stinkin' signs!!)
  2. Thanks for the correction about which slope we're talking about. The area between Rivershot & Floyds is being cleared for use, It's just that with the extreme steep it's really difficult to work (you need to hang from a rope while working not to mention the "Death Brairs"). If you look up there you will see the tree stumps where they have done some cutting. I wouldn't be surprised to see snow blown on it for next year.
  3. The area you're talking about is being cleared for cliff riding. It's definetly steeper than 45. (Good Luck!!!) The Old School maps of the Mt. show "Elevator" I guess they got tired of pulling cats out of the woods and dropped it from the line-up. New cats can do awesome stuff, so you never know. They do aim to please the customer.
  4. As you ski (ride?) down Floyd's it's on skiers right. Take a few passes and look this over before you commit. They're NOT joking about the pickers, they will destroy whatever you're wearing! I'll take an angle gauge over there and try to get an honest guess for you. If you like steeps that are covered in loose packed powder, then stop up and give Jack a try. Check out One Park WebCam, it's on their website. You can check conditions with it anytime. (seeing is believeing)
  5. If you have 5 pumps and you can only use 2 of them because it's not -5 degrees, how many more would you go and buy? The situation that you are talking about requires more air, more compressors, it has absolutely nothing to do with water Clearly you are confused on the process of snowmaking and I was trying to inform you so that your frustration level would go down. You're right on about the great season and you'll get at least another month. (at the right mt.) After seeing those pictures of the lights I can understand why this thread was started. Ride on!!!!!
  6. Just a quick FYI Rooms available all over the place up here Arlo's country store Candlelight Inn Chet's Place Mt View Inn Stonebridge Inn Vacation Inn About half of these are within sght if the slopes, so come on up and stay a while. All except Vacation Inn have food and drink on site. Enjoy!! Stop and try Jack Frost on your way, you'll be pleasantly surprised.
  7. The only time a system can use full water capacity is very low temps. 0 degrees F. So, to have extra pumps for early season start-up just doesn't compute. Most snowmaking decisions have nothing to do with system capacity and are more weather related. Until you are on the side of a mountain at 3am with a 30 mph east wind then you really should trust the judgement of the pros. No one cares more about snow than a snowmaker!!!
  8. It's not snowmaking firepower, it's the type of guns they use. They have convinced themselves that Elk is in Vt., as a result the system they have doesn't work well around here. (not cold enough early season) They have a hard time with employee retention, so, as a result, their snowcrew is relatively inexperienced. I also say "give you a shot at running the place"............. doing something beats doing nothing
  9. They don't own the land
