This is actually brilliant... the trail name should 100% be "coming soon" -

Maybe Saturday, maybe Sunday or maybe not at all. Btw its 4th weekend of the ski season in PA.... -
True true. Also, id imagine the person who runs their social media isn't exactly "in the loop" with the snowmaking progress.

Blue said on Instagram that they aren't opening the 6 this weekend. I posted this pic on the last page. The pic either didn't work or it got lost in typical b*llshit posts.

So my cousin asked me earlier this week if I wanted to go to Hunter with him this weekend... ahhh h*ll yea I do and what a day he picked to go. No wind, 40 degrees and sunny, an amazing day weather wise. We got on the snow a little late at around 945 but no worries as we were in no rush and planned to spend the who day up there. Lift lines from 945 till about 1145ish were somewhat significant, maybe 6-8 minutes for a few runs but overall not too bad. After 12 for the rest of the day lift lines were less than 2 minutes off of the Kaatskill Flyyaaaaaa Since my last visit here they opened a couple new trails, one being a blue from the summit to mid mountain which turned out to be the run of the day. We found some really fun glades at the top of the mountain and we also quickly found out that a lot of 420/chilling out takes place in these glades. Some by us and some by others, but never the less some good camaraderie was had. We spent a good amount of time riding in there thru out the day. While not very difficult glades it was good for me to get some warm up in there and good for my cousin to get experience in the trees. Hes a pretty decent rider and I never have to worry about him keeping up. He just doesn't have a lot of experience outside of Bear Creek and Blue so it was fun seeing him ride a more challenging mountain and he had a blast in the trees. Spring like conditions pretty much all day until it got overcast around 2 and hardened the snow up a decent bit. Unfortunately no real park is set up, however they did add a couple small features. I noticed that they had about a dozen rails/boxes in one "holding" location so im suspecting they will do an actual park build this week...just a guess. All in all an absolute great day on the mountain! Its nice to finally have somebody that im close with that wants to ride as much as I do and is willing to drive, wake up early and just go along with where the day takes us. A+++ day.

Good on you for trying to shop local. I worked retail in a hockey shop for 5 years so I always try to shop local too. I might get some heat for this and I do regularly shop at Buckmans for small items but I often find it hard to shop there for "big" purchases because of how high their mark ups often are. They had a $120 pair of pants on Burtons website, marked for $160. That's a 25% markup....come on man. I ended up buying the same pair of pants from a local shop at the base of Hunter for $140. That's at least reasonable IMO.

Just kinda thinking out loud here... I always assumed that local mountain's snowmakers are year round mechanics and general maintenance men. Maybe hiring a couple temps if needed. Obviously mountains up North and out West would need much larger crews so maybe they hire actual snowmakers?
