  1. That was for the 13' pipe..they purchased a new one for the 22' pipe, which is still yet to be delivered. But they won't have enough snow to use it for a couple weeks anyway, so no rush.
  2. They will probably blow snow for a couple weeks straight to cut the pipes, same as they did last year and it worked out well. Plus once spring rolls around you can plow the pipe and cover all the bare spots on the park. It's not impossible. They had a pipe last year they will have one this year. Sno is in contract with Planet. Therefore they have a cutter. They have paid the cutter. The cutter will be there. Don't worry about the cutter.
  3. Sent the planet guys an email about the 22 footer and got this response: "We are planning on having a 22-foot pipe at Sno this year. The Zaugg is on its way! Mike Langdon Marketing Manager Planet Snow Tools "
  4. They taught one of the guys last year...every time he cut the pipe there was a trench at the bottom of the walls. http://planetsnowdesign.com/movie.html And some reading material if you are interested... http://planetsnowdesign.com/media.html?target=36 For the trails...one of them is on the far side of fast track, and Rattler is at the bottom of the iron horse lift.
  5. Snake (square), Sidewinder (square), Rattler (diamond?) :banghead
  6. But to be serious on the issue over the whole mess up there..from what i understand they will be opening the upper half of mainline and shuffling the mainline traffic over to the top of the bunny. Running lifts 2,4, and 5. No 3. Which would mean you have to skate across the top part of the mountain if you want to hit the pow pow on mainline. Once again this isn't set in stone, so don't bash me if it doesn't happen and welcome to the area and the boards!
  7. A lot of us have been stuck back there, unless they get rid of some of those boulders they are most likely going to have to go around them. But looking at google earth and similar tools, it looks like rerouting around to the skiers right of the "knoll" wouldn't work out too well. Taking that route would bring them to a grade sloping away from the resort, unless i'm mixing up the picture of the terrain and the way it actual is. The last time i was back there we found a hole that looked like a bears den...we booked it out of there just to be safe Refer to my quick paint depiction: As for the new trail...I am with the majority of the people wanting better lighting and a high speed lift over new trails. But as Ski pointed out i could see where the reporter could have read this from the Sno site: "New Trails - Sn
  8. And those seven trails include the one actual trail, plus all of the [multiple] crossovers involved with it. Also they cut out an area of trees where the half pipe is supposed to go, that's another. And so on and so on... One "actual" trail for this season.
  9. I hope you aren't thinking that 7 new trails means 7 trails that are top to bottom/ half mountain trails.
  10. I'm going with the 8th.
  11. have to plug for Sno... http://eastcoast22.com/
  12. The terrain park page (eastcoast22.com) looks pretty good. They should steer the main page towards that direction...maybe they could get the planet guys to design snomtn.com too...
  13. From what i understand..snowtubing is staying where it was last year..a pipe is going next to it though so that it can be accessed by the magic carpet. Snowtubing and the halfpipe sharing the same magic carpet is brilliant too by the way. Then since the racing seems to be moving towards smoke, i would assume that would mean a pipe would be going onto switch. There was never a pipe on switch.. I don't even think they know what the plans are at this point, so i'd take everything with a grain of salt.
  14. Smuggs has nice terrain, and the trees were fun as hell. But like the others said, the double to the summit seems to last forever. You come to the top of a hill and think you are ready to get off then you round the top and see another. If you snowboard, you have to have a leash to ride the lift at the park (at least that's the way it was when i was there). Usually get one ride without it, then you either have to put on a leash if you have one, or they were selling them for $5 at the lift.
  15. http://www.planetsnowdesign.com/ Sno might be in the running with their pipe(s) in a couple of years, but i'm guessing this year it will just be a quickly thrown together 13 footer just like last year, didn't appear to be anything special to me. We'll see if that 22 footer develops.. Straight from the Planet website: So Which Mountains have the New 22
  16. Sunday November 18, 4 - 6 inches of natural snow plus man made Sn
  17. I lap the bunny all day. The magic carpet should be fun, granted i can get on it without falling.
  18. Last year they didnt call me until the 28th of December.
  19. Apply for the lift department, they'll take you.
  20. pipes are laid for snowmaking
  21. Where do you work at? Any inside info for us ? Just want to throw a quick disclaimer in regards to my last post so i don't get my ass chewed up... I fully support the buying of the mountain by the Sno guys, don't take my last post the wrong way. I just think they could make some smarter decisions up there.
  22. getting to the topic...this is a good sign sno
  23. Like what? According to the poll that one of the members did in this forum, their customers want a high speed lift the most of all. Are they supplying that like they said they were going to do? Not yet... I wonder if they even contacted the right people to get plans rolling for the lift..doubt it, but again i could be wrong. So because they are hosting a "prestigious" ( ) event, you are willing to let slide the late opening of the resort? ( this is what you seem to be replying to from my post, i'm not saying it's definitely going to happen) What's more important to you, hosting a tour that you won't even be competing in, or an early opening? I'll take the latter. Hopefully i'm proven wrong and they are among one of the first resorts to open, believe me i want them to rub that in my face...but like i said i'll believe it when i see it.
