  1. Uh NO! A binding is not just a binding. You definitely get what you pay for. Stay away from low-end, cheapo bindings.
  2. Moment Bibby's, yes drilling. They most likely used a Look jig to properly mount them (no guessing, searching for a pattern, etc.), set the DINs to his specs and test the release. All in a couple of hours, while we were out skiing. $72 for a couple of hours time, seems to make sense to me. If you mount them yourself, you've got nobody else to blame but yourself! It probably would have taken that much time just to find the drill pattern. Paying a reputable shop to mount bindings properly is definitely worth it IMHO. YMMV.

It truly is a zen-like experience, with a beer or two and some tunes on, meticulously putting and edge on while the iron heats up, dripping on the new wax, ironing it into the base to perfection, scraping and brushing to completion. One of the few things that keeps my ADD in check for at least one ski at a time. Merry Christmas to all!

I don't like when they're too active, I can't keep up and then my ADD kicks in and I have to go do something else until my OCD kicks in and I have to come back and catch up on all the posts I didn't get through the first time.

Every time I'm bored, I just jump on these forums lately and start laughing!
  6. Yeah, at least a 4 pack of World Wide Stout!
  7. Well, the year's coming to an end, so I have to get the final dings in. I'm also drinking Arrogant Bastard at the moment. Also, while we were waiting for the quad to get going, George calls Blue to ask them if the shuttle is running. They told him "No, it won't start running for a few hours, why?" George tells them, "Well, both valley lifts are down right now", to which the Blue person replied "Really?"

After you meet Sally, you won't confuse them anymore.
  9. Mashed potatoes? It didn't get warm enough today to have any mashed potatoes around here.
  10. I saw Jim out boarding/patrolling later in the day. He should have been down there micro-managing the repairs!
  11. I'm actually surprised they didn't delete the post.
  12. Ditto! I won't drink vodka anymore for those very reasons.
  13. Yet another cluster-fuck of a day at Blue. They had to have known the 6 had an issue and should have had the quad up and running for the open. Then they just got the quad running and were waiting for clearance, when they got the 6 running again, so everyone made a bee-line over to the 6. Early runs down Sidewinder were superb, with soft snow, but the temps seemed to drop and later runs were not as good, plus it was getting scraped off. Also early runs down Challenge weren't bad before the racers took it over. The sides of Lazy had good snow, I thought. With the rain and temps predicted to the in the 40's with sunshine, I was hoping for much better snow conditions today, but they never seemed to materialize. Barney's bumps were icebergs that made my knees hurt skiing them and the ridges were frozen solid from yesterday's rain. Thought they'd get better after a lunch break, but the shadows were already covering them by the time we got back out. They never softened. I dinged Blue on FB. Hopefully they'll take heed and get their lift ops act together by this week or else.
  14. You had pontoons on today!
  15. Mountain closes early today anyway.
  16. If you're going to Vermont, you'll have more opportunity to demo skis from shops up there. In the meantime, read more, ask more questions, seek the truth in all the fake news. Also, don't skimp on cheap bindings as they're what are going to save your knees after you get on whatever new racecar skis you choose.
  17. You have to recite the magic beer incantation just perfectly for him to appear, otherwise you're just wasting your time, money and breath.

I skied a few runs with Sally on Friday, she skis well and is an all-around cool cat. She just has to get a little more aggressive on the slopes and attack the mountain; show it who's boss!
  20. I think he may have thought that first cliff landing was a bit softer and not as flat. Looks like it would have hurt. Then run into a marker pole to boot. Guess it couldn't have been too bad, as he went back for seconds.
  21. I'm wondering how you know so much about that?
  22. Any mashed potatoes to go along with the lashes?
  23. Write some reports from down there as well!

    Pick me a ski

Need em that wide for all the Pocono powder days.
  25. He needs to tighten his GoPro screw. Maybe Salty can give him some pointers.
