Son was up last night, said the glades, particularly Lazy's, were in good condition and a lot of fun.

Skiing or Riding - what is more popular among kids/teens now?
indiggio replied to Ski2Live Live2Ski's topic in General Chat
You wouldn't think so if you spend any time at Blue... More and more seem to be getting into tele nowadays. -
Wonder just how many injuries there were back then without the binding technology that exists now??? Guess you had to have noodles for legs!

Harking back to my conveyor company days, I think they've got the soft-start miscalibrated, probably due to the excessive load cause by the number of riders and insufficient or improper load testing during setup (if they did any at all...). It felt like the soft-start was starting the movement, but with the excessive load my guess is that an overcurrent was tripping and shutting it right back down. Bob, the psychedelic liftie, said they were having some type of sensor problem, but didn't (or couldn't) elaborate in the few seconds it took to get on the lift. -
Not to mention that it makes the bumps fabulous!

I would use the term "fixed" pretty loosely. Reluctantly rode it later in the day, 2-3pm'ish and it stopped a number of times pretty abruptly on the ride up. Then it would start to go, but only for a couple of feet, then stop again and slide backwards a bit. It did this a number of times before it got going good, only to stop again. Luckily we were near the top and swore off it for the remainder of the day. The quad gave a better feeling of security... That's Barb trying to recoup all the enhancement expenditures in a single season... -
Indeed, the troughs at the bottom of Barney's were swallowing short skiers whole! See? You mean you're supposed to look where you're skiing? Actually wasn't bad as they had the guns pointed towards the park, so was just a light flurry on Main Street side.

Wait until OSHA gets a load of that! Maybe they'll finally put a roof overtop where the liftie stands, so they don't get dripped (or dropped) on all day. -
Especially the F'd up scanner they use for the VIP line! The thing beeps and flashes the green light, but the bar doesn't move for like a minute. If you back out, you're hosed as then the system thinks you're trying to use your pass multiple times and locks you out. The same scanners have been broke since the valley has opened. You'd think they'd get the company out there to fix em, but I guess Barb won't pay for support/maintenance.

I have to agree that Lazy had the best snow even until 4pm. They blew in the bumps yet again which only served to make them even bigger. Skiing them was like riding a roller coaster. Did a lot of runs through Sleepy Hollow which also had some excellent snow, but since the guns were still going nobody was skiing it.

Bumps on Main Street were wonderful in the morning with snow blown into them. By late morning, they were getting big and deep, but there was still firm snow in the troughs, so you could still get an edge in. They opened Razors around 2 and that was the run of the day, as the snow on it was ground pretty well with some firmness underneath. Razorback had a pretty good lip to it off of which some nice air could be obtained. Hopefully they reset the bumps for tomorrow. If they don't, hope they at least blow into them for a repeat of today. Both glades were being blown into, so hopefully they come into play pretty soon. -

From Valley webcam, it looks as though they're blowing on Dreamweaver. -

Surprising that they've started on Switchback, typically it's left until the very end. Perhaps because it's supposed to get wicked windy and Switchback is quite protected in there? Nothing on Sidewinder and/or Nightmare/Dreamweaver? -
I went to Action Park a few times, it was a death trap! There's stories all over the Internet about how dangerous the place was. They had the Cannonball Loop which was pretty wicked and also I believe a 90' water slide that sent you into freefall until you finally got near the bottom when it started flattening out. Needless to say it gave you the most wicked wedgie you ever had.

90%, you're way too kind! I'd think it's closer to 99.8% I agree that natural bumps are better, but with the advent of snowboarding, natural bumps aren't what they used to be. IMHO, the vast majority of snowboarders that ride at Blue are snowscrapers. Watch them go down any of the steeper runs, and you'll see them just pushing the snow down the run, exposing the boiler. Back in the day when there weren't snowboarders and/or Ray didn't allow them at Blue, natural bumps were far more prevalent and much easier to ski. -

Seed Chute because it's short and narrow. Can't put too much work to the groomers. Leave Midway ungroomed, just blow on it periodically. Can't run it all the way down past Chute and Midway (unless you mean after letting them bump up too). Imagine people flying down Chute and/or Midway into a mogul run? Would be entertaining though! QFT!!! They should also seed Widowmaker from top to bottom. -

I don't recall them ever seeding falls?? They do seed the entire left hand side of Challenge though down almost to Crossover. -

Yes, that's what I meant, force beginners onto Vista chair. According to the trail map, Burma isn't open yet. Don't know why they're being so slow to open trails. Typical Blue mentality, I suppose.
