  1. I'm all for bumping up Falls, which by then end of the day it typically is anyway... We saved a girl the other day from being pummeled as she was laying on Falls just below the top. We stood at the top so nobody came flying off the lip to land on her. Why is Crossover a black??? Why doesn't lower Razor's have a name?
  2. Bumping up both Midway and Chute would force people to use the Vista lift to get over to Lazy and down instead of being on slopes where they don't belong in the first place! Supposedly it's why they put Barney's on the left hand side of Main instead of the right side where they used to be. They say it's to prevent collisions on the connector coming down from Come Around and also Chute and Midway. Unfortunately for us bumpers, the sunlight disappears quickly these days and makes them hard to see. They'd be much better on the right side of Main Street to get more of the afternoon sun.
  3. They really need to bump up Chute to stop the out of control crazies from coming down into lower Main Street. Can't wait for that!
  4. Pretty much everywhere but the trails...
  5. Top half of Razors was pretty thin the other day after they spread out the whales.
  6. I think 10am start would be good.
  7. Not extremely long, perhaps halfway between quad and 6-pack. I didn't go back down after hitting it once. Big batch of rain headed for Blue now. No point in getting there at open as it's going to be a drenching.
  8. Bumps were great all day from seeded open until early afternoon, then switched to skiing the edges on Main Street and Chute. Since the racers had the right side of Main Street taken over, once they pulled the gates the snow to the side was nice and soft. Ended up skiing that until the rain drove us out. Also the 6-pack was closed for the afternoon. Rumor was that too much ice was forming on the towers, but that made no sense as the quad continued to run.
  9. Today was a total shit-show on Main Street later in the day. We witnessed a number of Asian, high-speed bombers screaming down Chute into lower Main Street with absolutely no idea how to turn or stop. One guy literally came off the top of Chute, down into Main and took out the skis of a little kid (who really shouldn't have been there anyway, but that's besides the point) and then ended up in a show explosion a few hundred feet down the slope. Someone from the kid's group went down to the guy and gave him an earful. The entire afternoon was full of this type of crap going on. If you're out there after noon, be wary skiing down the center of Main, as you may have someone barreling down behind you!! Barney's had no love today at all. We surmised that Blue only had a skeleton crew on last night, so it didn't get any snow and they were left from the other day (hard and icy). As usual, the best snow was along the sides of all trails. To close out the day, Tarpon and I took a couple of runs down Widowmaker which was really not worth the effort. As typical Blue grooming, this was a load of 1-2" marbles with boiler mixed in. I think I still have all my fillings... The jibhonks were making a good sized jump on flat below connector. At least they were having fun with it, so long as SP doesn't shut them down. JADAB (Just Another Day At Blue...)
  10. Yes, I don't think they've acclimated to this crazy, cold weather. They were spoiled by all the 50+ temps.
  11. Right! Also the memo that says to stop and have a conversation immediately after being scanned at the 6-pack in order to stop others from coming through... SMH! QFT!

Glorious snow today, save the bumps. They were not set and just blown on top...hard as rocks. However lots of blowing going on all over mountain. They'll be done within Widowmaker, FWIW., but doubt anything will be opened before weekend, if that. Cold has made for much better snow conditions though.
  13. Seems like they put a fresh coat on everything that's been open and then started full bore on Razor's. Unfortunately they seemed to have missed giving Homestretch the love, as thin spots were still around early. Bumps were reset and blown over which made them wonderful until the early afternoon when the ice started coming up in the troughs. Anyway, once the shadows hit them, they're difficult to see and harden up fast. Main Street was truly a shit-show, with pretty much every beginner in the universe out all trying to make their way down lower Main Street. There were families walking down Midway. Women walking back up Chute. Yard-sales galore. Girls sliding down Falls nearly taking out her father along the way. Lazy probably had the best snow overall. Upper and Mid Paradise were decent, but lower was not as good and the grooming was lousy. Main Street, first thing in the morning, was excellent chalky, carveable snow. Unfortunately it gave way to the granular and the piles formed. By late morning, the 6-pack lines were back to the readers. They finally got a clue and fired up the quad and the lines disappeared. Overall a pretty good day at Blue today.
  14. With races upcoming and how much sway BMR has over the mountain, I'd bet they start hammering Razers soon.
  15. Good way to put the fear of skiing into the kid's memory. Idiot! Yesterday I saw some moron carrying their child down Chute and Main Street which was a total mogul field of sugar piles.
  16. Although I sorta feel bad for those who can't ski/board and "accidentally" go down Midway, most think they're way better than they actually are and thus make for quite the entertainment.
  17. Seems like everywhere is getting dumped on except for this area, unless you consider being dumped on by rain...
  18. Have to get it on video!
  19. Nobody that I recognized and it looked like he was wearing rental boots...
  20. So, if you didn't hang around until, oh say, 2:15ish, you missed the excitement under the 6-pack. Tarpon and I were riding up and the 6 and it stopped near the top for an extended period of time. On the chair with us was some neo-snowboarder who was making cracks about my old-school Full Tilt boots, that he said were something his Mom was skiing way back in the day. Regardless, we were stopped for more than the usual "somebody fell" time. The snowboarder seemed to be getting worried as he kept asking us why it stopped and we kept up the farce about having to get lift-evaced by ski patrol. Eventually it started again and Tarpon and I skied down to the 6, only to find it stopped yet again. Tarpon asked the gate lady, but she didn't know anything. We got up to get on the chair and Tarpon asked the attendant who replied that "Someone fell off the chair up above"!!! Sure enough, a little above the SP cross-under, there was a gaggle of SP tending to someone lying on the ground. They had a neck brace, blanket and face mask ventilator on the guy, who looked pretty out of it. At that point, we estimated the fall to be between 15-20'. No reason not to put down the bar...
  21. Some would be quite amusing. http://semi-rad.com/2014/12/11-ways-to-make-that-chairlift-ride-awkward/
  22. Guns on at the summit at least... Doesn't look like they've groomed the valley as of yet.
  23. They need to blow every minute they can!
  24. Longer term (after Christmas) predicted temps seem to be better, but we all know how predictions can go...
